《Bestfriend as a Mate》T H R E E

It was the dreaded Monday. The worst day of the week. The start of a another terrible week. Monster Monday.
Mine was even worse as I woke up with sore eyes from crying the night before. My body ached from the lack of moving and just wasting away in my bed. Lately I had had much of a appetite but I ate to not worry my parents.
Augustus or Mr. NGA short for need to go away as I like to call him in my head has been frequent and consistent in his coming over uninvited to my home. Its disturbing and whats more is he keeps bugging me. But sticking to my Squidward quotes 'If I ignore it, it'll go away", has led to many futile attempts to leaving me alone.
Getting ready for school, I dress in a pair of dark jeans, a plain white shirt and my tan Nike Manoa boots. Grabbing my backpack and phone, I head out my room to see as usual Mr. NGA setting the table for breakfast.
Ignoring him, I go in the kitchen not seeing mom only a note on the door.
Dear Yoshi,
Me and your dad have decided we need a little time to ourselves. There is money on the counter for bills, food in the fridge. At the most we'll be gone for a few weeks. Augustus will be staying with you until we get back. Please be nice to him, he's trying.
Mom
"Breakfast is ready baby boy." I hear Mr. NGA call from behind me making me jump in fright. "D-don't call me that." I grumble as I walk to the table taking a seat away from him. Augustus sighs lightly as he places a plate of french toast with powered sugar on top of it and maple syrup.

I wanted to jump for joy as I saw them but I kept in restrained as I grabbed my fork eating silently. "So baby boy, I was thinking I could walk you to school. I can pick you up so we can go get lunch if you want." Augustus says eagerly as I eat my french toast.
"I can walk to school by myself. I'm not some little kid. I'm not eating lunch today." I snap at him not in the mood for his attention seeking attitude today. "Oh. Okay. I understand." He says sounding a bit disappointed and I'd be a heartless monster if I said it didn't pull at my heartstrings.
Standing up, I grab my bookbag. "Thanks for breakfast." I say clearly before making my way to school.
Arriving on time as always, I make it to my locker with no problems. I was going to go into my AP Calculus class until I felt someone snatch me into another classroom.
Glaring at who is was I come face to face with Nathan who was sporting a bruise over his left eye. "What happened to you?" I ask trying not to seem frightened. "You fucking ratted me out to the Alpha!" Nathan whispered yelled at me.
"I don't know what kind of drugs your on Nat but I don't know what your talking about." I say making a move to leave but Nathan snatched me back tossing me into the wall. I tried not to cry in pain as I felt the air being forced out of my lungs. Coming over to me he sent a hard kick to my ribs and a swift punch to my cheek.
"That'll teach you to rat me out runt." Nathan growled at me in anger as I lay crumpled on the floor.

I tried to get up but I fell from the pain in my body. I started thinking, when did Nathan start to hate me. Why did he bully me? What happened to friends forever Nat?
***
Somewhere along the way, I fell unconscious as I started hearing voices around me. Words like "mate bond", "damage", and "internal bleeding" came up as I woke.
Looking around, I'm in a hospital sort of room, everything was a blinding pristine white, machines were beeping around me, and my hand felt weighed down. Looking, I see Augustus holding me hand as he fidgeted around nervously.
"W-what's going on?" I croak my throat dry. Augustus almost fell out his seat as he heard my voice which made me laugh a little. "Thank Goddess. I was going crazy without you. I swear, I'll protect you better okay. Promise." He said quickly as he pulled in a hug that took me by a shock.
"Can I get some water?" I say awkwardly. With a all to eager nod, Augustus got me some water and called the doctor in.
"Hello Lu-Yoshi. It seems you have a minor concussion and a two fractured ribs. Your going to have to take it easy okay. I don't want you to go to school for the next three days. Now will you tell us how this situation occurred." The doctor instructed.
Glancing at Augustus for help, I noticed how tense he was. "I don't remember. I'm sorry." I say to the doctor. "That's okay. I will get you discharged, then you and Alp-Augustus can be on your way." Doc said as I looked at him weirdly.
Nodding, I close my eyes before I heard a deep almost feral growl come out of no where. Jumping, I shiver in fear as memories of growls come back.
Gus and I were taking our usual walk through the forest. I was only five at the time but Gus always protected me. Like how daddy protected mommy.
We stopped at a small clearing where there were no trees only grass. Bumping into Gus, I look to see he had stopped making me grab his fur in my hands. From out the bushes stepped another dog that was dark brown fur and weird red eyes. It growled at us and Gus growled back standing in front of me.
Suddenly the dog lunged at Gus making him bite back at the dog's shoulder. Whimpering in fear, I held tighter to Gus's fur as the dog jumped at Gus again biting his neck. Soon Gus, beat the other dog and carried me back to my home. Mom and Dad ran outside at Gus's bark. Mom checked me over as Dad ran to Gus telling him something before gray dog came out the woods. I wanted to run to Gus to protect him but the dog carried Gus away.

That is, until a virulent strain of ebola swept through the city. With his immune system strained as it is, the odds don’t look good for Charles. With no other option but the dark oblivion of death, Charles chooses to make a deal with the spirit of a distant world that's seeking a wild card in its battle against the gods, monsters, and mortals that threaten its existence. Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent

Living in the slums of a city that hangs on the edge of an abyss, Aidan thought he knew the track his life would take. But on his last screening for magical powers before setting off for training he’s found to possess the abilities needed to be a Mage, the male counterpart part to Witches who fight the creatures of the abyss. For Aidan though, it’s a way out of a life he was trapped in. But as things get underway he realizes that his new life may be a different kind of trap. Updated Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tales of a Grim World.
Ancient prophecies say that once every thousand years, one shall rise to bring about a new age of darkness. A harbinger of evil, a being born for the sole purpose of sowing misery and disgrace. Through them, the world shall know of war, famine, pestilence and death— the four seals that herald the end of times. Besieged by the maws of evil, humankind shall suffer in agony as they watch everything they once knew be unmade before them. To oppose such a being, the whole world has had to stand united, in the battles that came to be historically known as the Great Holy Wars. Guided by the Saintess of Irithel, brave heroes coming from the four corners of the world had to sacrifice their lives in order to fight against the Harbinger and cast away the darkness. Our story begins in the year 578, a bit over six hundred years since the end of the fifth holy war. In the kingdom of Valtia, a small nation belonging to the Union of Western Kingdoms, an urgent missive bearing the royal seal arrives at the hands of Earl William Taylor. Though it might still be almost half a millennia too early for another Harbinger to be born, dark clouds already loom over the northern continent of Gram, as many bizarre events start taking place. Follow the story of our main characters as they struggle to survive in a grim, unforgiving world. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Warning: This work is intended for mature audiences and contains adult scenes and heavy descriptions of violence and gore. If you are not over the age of 18, turn back right now. You have been warned.
