Sitting at the dinner table, I groan mentally as I feel the stranger staring at me once again.
"Thank you May for dinner." He said acknowledging my mom before continue to stare weirdly at me. "Can you stop staring?" I ask quietly eating my broccoli.
"Sorry. Your just beautiful to me." He says making me slam my hand down on the table. "Who are you?! Why are you here? And why do you keep staring at stalker!" I yell at this mystery man who winced rubbing his ear and strangely I wanted to kiss it better.
"Yoshi, calm down and let him explain." Dad grunted out with a soft look to his eyes. Crossing my arms with a huff, I turn to Mr. Mystery beside me who was rubbing his neck nervously.
"Lets go outside." Mr. Mystery suggested as I huffed getting up and going outside with him following me.
Taking a seat on the stoop, he takes a seat very close beside me making me uncomfortable as I moved over but he followed behind me.
"Im Augustus Hill. I'm 36. I can't tell you why I'm here yet. But just know your very special to me Yoshi. Your the most precious thing to me." He says creeping me out as strange emotions flash through his eyes.
Staying quiet I grumble as I bite my lip in thought. "Why were you in my room the other day? And how do you my name?" I ask not bothering to look in his direction. "I just wanted to be there and I asked your parents. Yoshi, will you stay with me the weekend? I already cleared it with your parents." He said looking excited.
"No. I don't know you Augustus. For all I know, you could be a murderer, a stalker, or a rapist. You could hurt me for all I know." I say firmly before a beast like growl comes from his chest scaring me as I jump up and away from him.

Augustus took a step forward was I stepped back, he kept stalking towards me like a wolf on the hunt. My back met cement as he corned me against the house. His eyes kept switching from dark brown to almost honey color as he looked at me.
"I would never, ever hurt you baby boy. " he rumbled out as he pressed his chest against mine. My heart began to beat dangerously fast as I felt him sniffing at mt neck like some dog. Pushing him back, I glare at him as I try to slow my heart.
"Stay away from me Augustus, you pervert." I snap at him as I move to go in the house but he grabbed at my wrist.
"Call me Gus." He says as I feel tears come to my eyes at hearing that name. "I will never." I grit out snatching my hand away as his facw goes to one of shock. Stomping into my house, I say a quick goodnight to mom and dad before entering my bedroom. Locking the window and locking my door, I reach under my bed pulling out the small metal box. Opening it finding numerous picture of Gus and I from when I was smaller.
God, I missed him so much. From his curious eyes to his thick golden brown coat. He may have been a dog to everyone else. But to me he was the only thing I felt a connection with. He was there when I cried about Nathan bullying me. He was there when I came out to my parents. Hell, he was there when it seemed no one else was. Gus, was that dog that even if he left and came back it was like he was always there.
Hearing a small tap on the window I turn wiping my face of tears as I see Augustus standing looking sad. Not wanting to be bothered, I closed the curtains. Putting the metal box back under the bed, I get in bed and soon fins myself reliving memories.

I was 10 and I was at the park playing with Gus who was rolling around on the grass as I rubbed his tummy.
Once I was done, I played in the sand box, making sand castles, you know minding my business as Gus had went to do his. A shadow suddenly appeared over me as I looked up seeing this older kid and a few other boys behind him. They couldn't of been no more that a couple years older than me.
"Aye runt. Get off our terf." One said. "But I just got here." I say to them. "I don't care. Move." The ringleader said before kicking at the dirt making it go in my eyes.
"I can't see!" I yelped as I rubbed at my eyes, unknowingly making it worse. They started laughing as the wind started to blow before I heard a loud bark.
Opening my eyes as they stung I see Gus, standing in front of me growling at the boys. I guess they backed off, as I felt Gus gently bite my shirt tugging me to the water fountain. Clearing out my eyes, I whimper at the slight sting.
Right then and there I knew Gus would always protect me like I would him.

You've woven in enough goodness in the first 5 chaps to warrant a deeper dive." -RaccoonMage "A well written Isekai." -TaxReligion "When I saw it was an isekai I expected the same old tropes. The Choice of Twilight
Growing up has always been difficult. It's even worse when you have to do it all in one night. On the eve of his thirteenth birthday, Ty awakes to find himself in a dreamworld, one-so he is told-that exists to pit him against his greatest fears and insecurities. And to ready him for a final choice. Luckily, Ty is not without friends. He soon meets Gentry, a wooden puppet his grandfather made for him years ago, walking and talking, ready to help Ty learn what he needs to return home in one piece. But that won't be easy when a cruel and abnormally tall skeleton dressed in mockery of Santa Claus and his suit hates Ty's guts. San wants nothing more than to best Ty and do what none of his kind has ever done before: defeat a child that has made "the choice." But Ty will stop at nothing to fight back against everything San's got in order to face his fears and grow up. Because, if he doesn't, he will end up a kid forever. Or, worse...never wake up again. This story is perfect for you if you are a fan of Coraline and Kingdom Hearts, both of those stories greatly inspired this one. I have recently added the Isekai tag after being unsure if it counts or not. I've decided it fits the description of what it is but not the current trends in the genre. If you go in with Coraline in mind I think you will have a better idea of the kind of Isekai this is. And I've also added the Slice of Life tag, that is only for the first five or six chapters though, then Ty enters the dream world and it pretty quickly becoms a progression fantasy, a mix of more traditional fairy tale like trappings alongside more anime action and acquisition of slowly increasing powers. With all that out of the way, please enjoy! Updates every Tuesday and Thursday! What time of day? It's a mystery! (For now)
