《Bestfriend as a Mate》P R O L O U G E

Hearing the annoting sound of my alarm clock, I slam my fist down on it probably breaking it completely. Snapping my eyes open as I realize what today is.
My eighteenth birthday. The day I would take over position as Alpha over my pack, Silent Moon Pack. Of course I'm a werewolf and a pretty handsome one at that. With my hazel eyes that all the girls in the pack drooled over. Chiseled jawline with high cheek bones to match and slightly curly brown hair. All while standing at a good 6'4.
Hopping in the shower, I wash up as well as washing my hair. Drying off, I go to the sink brushing my teeth and washing my face in a hurry as I wanted to meet my mate already. Putting on a blue button down with a simple pair of jeans. I jog to the kitchen seeing everyone in the pack standing there. Girls giddy as they hope their the one. But just smelling all the pack, I didn't pick up any trace of my mate.
my wolf, Eli, whined. Emitting a slight growl I walk outside and the wind starts blowing. Slight traces of mango and shea butter come to my nose and I follow it.
It led deep into the forest and I grew worried. "Why would they be in thw forest, rouges are out here they could be hurt." I think and just that thought I hasten the chase to follow the scent.
It leads to a cottage that a new pack member had requested for privacy reason. Shifting into my wolf, shaking out my dark brown fur. Sniffing at the corners of the house, the scent gets strongers.
"Alpha, what brings you to this side of the forest?" I hear making me perk up seeing the new pack member, Gene. He moved here with his wife and new born baby.
You might be asking, why let human move into your territory. But Gene was born into a werewolf family. His mother was werewolf and his father was human. Though he should of been a werewolf,
"Smell mate here." I mindlink him as I smell my mate on him making me growl lowly. "Your welcome to search." Gene offers opening the door for me. Walking inside, my nose is filled with the smell of my mate and I have to control myself from not running through it.

Following the smell all over the house, I finally come to a living room Gene's wife, May, I think was playing with a baby who was sitting in a walker. Walking to them I sniff the air once more and the source of the smell was the baby.
"You have clothes, to borrow Gene." I mindlink him and he looks confused as he goes to get some spare clothes. "Hello Alpha." May says as she continues feeding my mate. Nodding my head at her, Gene comes back with a pair of basketball shorts in hand. Taking them in my mouth, I go to another room shifting back to my humanoid form. Slipping on the shorts, I walk back to the living room sitting on the couch beside May.
"Can I hold him?" I ask softly looking at my angel of a mate. "Umm...yes just be careful." May says slowly as she picks up my mate handing him to me. Making sure to hold him correctly, I can't help but cradle him to my chest.
"What's his name?" I ask softly as my angel looks at me in wonder as he grabs my fingers.
"Yoshi Shiro." May says a smile in her voice. "Yoshi." I smile as it rolls off my tongue. My mate giggles as he holds my finger.
"Yoshi is your mate. Isn't he Alpha?" Gene asks softly as he catches my attention. "Yes. We can work out a schedule. Whatever works for you. He's really beautiful." I say as I look at Yoshi.
"Well Alpha, you can come over anytime to visit Yoshi. But for now Gene and I have to go out of town for a few days. We were going to get a baby sitter but do you want to watch him?" May offers and Gus is practically jumping in happiness.
"Thank you. This means alot to me. I'll take good care of him." I say nodding my head to both Gene and May. May smiled as Gene arched a eyebrow.
"Alpha can I speak with you outside?" Gene asked. "Umm...yeah sure." I say hesitantly as we stand. Handing my mate back to his mother, I follow Gene outside.
"You don't have to call me Alpha. It's just Augustus or Gus." I say antsy to get back to my mate.

"I'm not going to keep you from Yoshi because I know how important a mate is. But I swear to you Augustus you hurt my pup in any way, I'm going to hurt you. Understand." Gene said firmly and though my wolf was growling I kept him down.
"Understood and I probably will hurt him but I just hope he forgives me." I say. Gene nods before he gives me a smile. Walking back inside, I instantly hear crying making me wince.
Gus growls out. Walking back to May, I see her pacing the floor with a crying Yoshi in her arms. "I don't really know why he's crying. We fed, he's diaper is still clean." May fretted as Gene chuckled.
Reaching for my angel, May hands him to me as I cradle him. "What has my angel crying?" I coo to Yoshi, who starts giggling as I wipe his tears.
"Unbelievable. Let me show you where everything is." May laughs as she shows me the house.
The cottage was actually pretty spacious. Carpet floors in the bed room and the living room so Yoshi could crawl around.
Settling in the kitchen as May starts cooking, I sit at the dining table as does Gene.
"Okay now to settle a schedule." Gene says as Yoshi giggles as he holds my finger close to him.
"As said before you can come anytime. If not we'll let you know ahead of time. But we would like personal family time on Sunday. Thats the rules. We are not going to tell him about werewolves, we would appreciate you holding off to until he is 18. " Gene says as I nod looking down at my mate who smacked my chest.
"Understood. But what form should I take when I come visit? It'll be weird if I'm known as a uncle then he grows up thinking its incest." I say looking at Gene as May sets down homemade chicken noodle soup.
"You could be his dog, we'll say your just your some kind of dog." May suggests shrugging her shoulders as she sits Yoshi in his high chair.
"That's demeaning, May." Gene scoffs at May. "Actually that will work perfectly but tell him my name is Gus. I don't want my mate calling me Max or Bert." I say as May laughs lightly.
"Deal." Gene says shaking my hand like this was a business deal. Nodding, I thank May for the food as I eat.
"Augustus Hill, where are? You've been missing all day?!" My mom mindlinked me sounding frantic. "It's a long story but I tell you when I get back." I mindlink her. I groan lightly before my eyes settls on Yoshi as he makes a fuss not eating his baby food.
"Yoshi." I say and his head turn to me. "Mind your mom." it seemed that he was behaving as he suppose to.
"You know its amazing that he's responding to the mate bond and he's only a infant." Gene remarks looking at Yoshi. "It's because of primal instincts. All babies have them and Yoshi's is strong seeing as you come from a family of werewolves. So it makes sense he's responding." I explain as I finish my soup.
"I'm going to leave for now. When do I have to be here tomorrow?" I ask standing as Yoshi started making a fuss.
"Nine at best. Good night Alp-Gus." Gene says as he finishes eating. Going over to Yoshi, I lean down kissing his head.
"If he cries to much, you can call me at the pack house. Thank you for today." I say before I exit the cottage. Removing the borrowed basketball shorts. I shift before running back to the pack house.
Arriving I see my mom pacing in front of the pack house angrily. "Where have you been young man? Do you know how worried I've been?" My mom said clearly upset as she pinched my ear and twists it.
Shifting back I sigh as I but the shorts on. "Let me explain. But lets get inside." I say ushering mom inside seeing dad sipping a beer on the couch. Going to sit in the living room, I take a breath.
"So did you find your mate?" Dad asked as I nodd before explaining the situation to them. How my mate is only a baby, and everything of that sort.
"Wow. Well, we trust your judgement." Mom said calming down. Nodding, I sigh as I hear the phone going off.
Time to go be there for my angel of a mate.

Rise of the First Necromancer
Asrael Nessarat awakes on a sandy dune with a mouthful of sand and nothing but tattered rags in his posession. As the High Magus of the school of Necromancy, he once aspired to prove to the Emperor that magic still held a place in their society. But that day came, passed and inevitably accelerated his kind's downfall. Now; they are hunted, strung up and burned on pyres throughout the Empire by the Emperor's holy Inquisition- an efficient and ruthless army hell-bent on bleeding every last droplet of magic from the lands. With nothing but a mouthful of sand and tattered rags; Asrael is determined to seek the one thing his cold, still heart desires. Vengeance. This story can, at times, get very dark. It is not recommended for the faint of heart. This is not a story of an overtly powerful wizard who can pulverize his enemies from across the world, nor is it in any way, shape or form a joyous tale. We follow Asrael as he and his companions explore and seek to change an unjust world, where kindness and acceptance are exceptions, rather than the rule. If you are looking for a story to inspire hope or joy, this is not it. If you wish to read about likeable, heroic people, turn around. If you wish to see good battle evil, where the cut in between is clear, then this is not for you.

The Heretic Legion
Cover Art: Undead Master by Changling Assassin. Located at: http://fav.me/dbm60ex Used under license Creative Commons attribution non-commercial 3.0 per bottom right of the linked page. Summary: Just the story of a necromancer and his eventual army. Currently, the only major thing of note is a pretty fleshed out magic system. No set list of spells or specific incantations. Just rules similar to the laws of physics, within those laws you can do whatever is possible. Updates: I work Sunday thru Wednesday and updates tend to revolve around my scheduled days off. Currently, I release content as I feel it's ready for release because that's what I myself would prefer from an author. Warnings: This story is graphic. blood/necromancy magic that requires self-harm to use. explicit descriptions of sexuality. (though fairly tame outside of the marked chapters, at least compared to said chapters) and is generally darker in tone. If you're concerned you might start to read only to be turned off by these elements. See 7. Teetering on the Edge for an example of the graphic nature of violence or 9. Explicit Content for a fairly self-contained example of the most explicit of the sexual content.

Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.

Knights of the Partition
We like to think there are no monsters. No magic, no gods, nothing waiting in the night but the stars and cold, hard science. It’s a comforting thought. It isn't true. Magic isn't common, mind you. Working forces is difficult in the Age of Man, and gods are limited in the ways they interact with the world. The great monsters of old have mostly been slain, or sealed away. But rare or not, the magic isn't gone. The great Working that protects us from the horrors of the past does not have the power to destroy such things. Instead, it created the Partition, a tapestry of worlds beyond the boundary of our own. There the magic roams, searching for a way to come back. I am a Knight of Avalon. One of the protectors of the Partition. How did I get this job? Poor decisions, mostly.
