《Pen Pals {MXTX}》19- Wei Ying's supporting cast

"Wow, Wei Wuxian. This must be a new record." Hei Yinghua glanced at the old clock bound on the wall of the taekwondo studio center, "You are late by twenty-two minutes and thirty-three seconds."
The girl raised a brow at the younger boy. The boy had his arms behind his back looking as if he was hiding something.
"Wei Ying. What do you have to say for yourself?"
"Umm... That I will never ever accidentally break my wrist again so that I won't have to be driven to the local hospital to get a cast for my hand and therefore be late to my taekwondo lesson by twenty-two minutes and thirty-three seconds-?" Wei Wuxian blinked innocently.
Hei Yinghua stared at the boy. "You what now?" she asked incredulously.
"I broke my wrist, Jie." Wei Wuxian moves his arm to reveal a hand encased in a cast, "See? Well, it's not actually broken, I think Mu Yisheng said I sprained it or something, but anyway, I have to keep this cast on for a week or so," said Wei Wuxian as he knocked on the cast with his free hand.
"...Wei Ying, you never failed to amaze me."
"Wow, really? Thanks!"
"How did it happen?"
"I was trying to get an apple from a tree in my backyard and Jiang Cheng came out of nowhere and shouted, "Wei Wuxian! What are you doing??" As if he couldn't see that I was trying to get an apple from a tree and then I lost my balance and boom! I die and that's all." Wei Wuxian finished all this in a single breath.
"Okay, cool. Go change into your uniform."
Wei Wuxian blinked. "Um, Yinghua-jie, but I have a broken wrist here! I can't do taekwondo with a broken wrist!" Wei Wuxian waved his arm around as if afraid the older girl couldn't see it.

"I know. But that doesn't mean you can't listen, can you? Let's go, I want to show you how to do a 1080-degree kick."
"But, Yinghua-jieeeee, that's boring!"
"Stop whining, it isn't boring when you see it! And it's Master Hei or Hei Laoshi to you right now."
...
"Hey, guys!" Wei Wuxian ran down the school stairs toward two boys sitting on a picnic table, waving an arm and holding a basket of food in the other.
When the boy reached his friends, he plopped down on the bench. "I'm still mad at you guys." The boy announced.
"Can't believe you guys ran over to the hospital only to leave after a minute," Wei Wuxian complained, "Then you guys send me a photo of you two having lunch at the new nearby bakery. Without me!"
"Your own fault. Who told you to send us a text saying you're dying and you need us asap because none of your family members is with you?"
"I wasn't completely sure that I wasn't gonna die! Plus look, it's my right wrist that's injured! I can hardly do anything!"
"Hm, then what about the family member part?" asked Luo Binghe. "Both Jiang Wanyin and Jiang Yanli were with you. Jiang Yanli even brought you soup."
"Please, even if me falling off a tree didn't kill me, Jiang Cheng looks like he was going to murder me and then bury me in the backyard. I needed you both to protect me," explained Wei Wuxian patiently.
Then the boy decided to change the subject. "Anyway gang, look at what a girl gave me! I knew my cast would at least win some sympathy from some people!"
Wei Wuxian heaved the basket of food onto the table.
"Now, maybe if you guys ask me nicely, I might share this food with you! Ooh, look! Loquats!"

Hua Cheng glanced inside the basket. "Hey, Wei Ying. Did the girl say anything when they gave this to you?"
"Of course! Probably. I was a little busy texting Lan Zhan on Wechat, sooo I don't remember what she said."
Hua Cheng raised a brow. "Right. Which your 'broken' right wrist can't stop you from doing."
"Yeah, gotta learn how to type left-handed. I wasn't about to let a broken wrist stop me from using my phone," said Wei Wuxian with a straight face.
"You got your pen pal's Wechat?" Luo Binghe asked.
"Oh yeah. After he followed me on Weibo too," Wei Wuxian grinned.
Luo Binghe nodded his head, spacing out. Should he ask his pen pal for their Wechat?
Hua Cheng took a piece of paper from the basket.
"Hey, Wei Ying, read this." Hua Cheng tossed the letter over.
"What? You want me to read this? Ermmmmm, 'Dear, Luo-Gege, why are you so cute-' Wait what?" Wei Wuxian's eyes widened to the size of saucers, "This is for Luo-xiong?!"
"Well, that's just rude," Wei Wuxian huffed.
"Luo-xiong! This is for you!" Wei Wuxian shoved the basket towards Luo Binghe. "Er- Luo-xiong? Helloo?" Wei Wuxian waved a hand in front of the boy's face.
"Huh? Oh... What is it?" Luo Binghe blinked.
"This! It turns out to be for you," Wei Wuxian grumped.
"Oh...
Aw, don't feel bad, Wei Ying, remember that anonymous person who sent you a love letter last week?" Luo Binghe patted Wei Wuxian on the back.
"I'm not mad about that!" Wei Wuxian said indignantly, "Only why did the girl give it to me to give it to you?? I'm not a minion!"
"Of course not, you are our best friend, Wei Ying."
"I am?"
"Yeah! Right, Hua Cheng?"
"Sure."
"Thanks, guys," Wei Wuxian faked a sniff. "You guys are the best supporting cast anyone can ask for."
Wei Wuxian paused waiting for a reaction.
Which there was none.
"...Oh, come on! Neither of you guys got it???"
"Got what?" Hua Cheng asked.
"The joke!"
"Oh um, haha-?" Luo Binghe offered.
Wei Wuxian: "..."
"I'm going to eat those loquats."

A/N: if you didn't get the 'supporting cast' joke:
A cast can be a group of people. (The cast in a play)
A cast can also be something that helps keep a broken or sprained limb in place. (Hand cast)
Wei Ying has both a supporting cast and a supporting cast. Both are only slightly helpful. Double meaning 😛
Also- Mu Yisheng is Mu Qingfang from svsss. Yisheng means doctor.

8 389Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
8 187The Villainess Always Dies (I'm screwed!)
==Currently being rewritten== Thank you commenters for all the advice you've given. I decided to go back and rewrite and add several chunks to the first half of the story before starting the school arc. :) Update: Chapters 1-4 are edited. There will be an additional arc added later.... Not quite sure how that's going to work out with what's already there but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I'll get revenge on my own terms! After experiencing near-death from the plague, Lucina Maelle remembers her previous life as a teenage girl with a heart condition. That girl's favorite video game? Dragon Fantasy XXIV. And who is the wicked villainess from that game, who suffers a horrific death at the hands of the hero? She is! With that knowledge in mind, the solution is simple-- just don't become a villainess. Easier said than done, for even the gods protest her desire for a virtuous life. No matter how Lucina attempts to thwart her future, to ensure justice is achieved, she must go down the path of villainy. Thus, the only solution is to become the ultimate villainess! First, find Valerian, her favorite character who is voiced by her favorite voice actor. He's a part of the hero's party but so long as she meets him first, she knows she can turn him over to her side! Second, become so strong that the hero's party has no chance of defeating her. Third, await the events of the game to begin and spit in the face of gods and fate!Updates Tuesday and Saturday
8 166Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
8 55899 Dungeons: The Beast Lord
