Prime Minister Latuperissa has bags on his eyes. For days he had less sleep than usual thanks to the increased security alert and needs to be updated on the situation by his generals, and the attempted attack on the National Monument in Jakarta and the invasion of India are the last straw he needed in his new position.

On his way to the National Emergency Coordinating Room, also known as the Situation Room located inside the Ministry of Defense building, four kilometers away from the Prime Ministerial Official Residence in 4 Pancasila Street, he received the notification about the invocation of PPDU Article 5 from his generals in Manila, Philippines.

Then, inside his car, Barnabas quickly called for the top military brass and the National Security Council to be at the Situation Room, immediately.

Half and hour later, over 20 senior officers of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and federal law enforcement forces, in particular the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs, the new body formed in 2025 as part of Basuki administration-era military reform, had arrived.

The first to arrive was the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff/Commanding Officer of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Admiral Albertus Sugijono, followed by the chief of staffs of the branches; the Army Chief of Staff, General Deri Munardo; Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Lukas Kasenda and Air and Space Force Chief of Staff, Air Chief Marshal William Handjaja. After ACM Handjaja's entry to the room, the Commandant of the Indonesian Marine Corps, which in 2032 had been made a distinct arm of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Marine General Nono Sudrajat arrived, followed by two top leaders of the law enforcement; Admiral Setyo Wiratmojo, the Commandant of the Coast Guard and finally Police Director General Tikno Rahardian, Chief of the National Police.

Other senior officers present include Lieutenant General I Ketut Catur Setia, the Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad), Marine Lieutenant General Ricky Sastrowardoyo; Commander of the Armed Forces Special Operations Command, and Air Marshal Rudy Harahap; Commander of the Armed Forces Transportation Command.

Followed by commanders of the branches of each service.

"Call command coming online, sir, in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, mark." Said an Army Sergeant.

On the series of holographic projectors of the conference room, appeared three commanders from the Joint Defense Regional Commands and members and invitees of the government's National Security Council who weren't able to be in the capital.

Then the regional commanders reported their readiness.

"KOGABWILHAN I (Joint Defense Regional Command I/Komando Gabungan Wilayah Pertahanan I) reporting sir." said Lieutenant General Yakobus Pasaribu, Indonesian Army. His AOR consists of islands Sumatera, Java, and Western part of Borneo, along with the Indian Ocean.

"KOGABWILHAN II (Joint Defense Regional Command II/Komando Gabungan Wilayah Pertahanan II) reporting sir." said Air Marshal Ahmad Subarjo, Indonesian Air and Space Force. His command consists of islands of Bali, Nusa Tenggara, rest of Borneo (including Nusantara Special Capital Region), and Sulawesi. His command, along with KOGABWILHAN I, has concurrent responsibility for the country's military presence in the South China Sea area.

"KOGABWILHAN III (Joint Defense Regional Command III/Komando Gabungan Wilayah Pertahanan III) reporting sir!" said Vice Admiral Henry Matulapelwa, Indonesian Navy. His AOR consists of Maluku and Papua islands, along with the Western Pacific area.

Subsequently lower level commands from the Army, Navy, and Air Force report their readiness.

"Ladies and gentlemen" Barnabas breathed out as he sat at the head of the Situation Room's table. "First thing first I apologize for calling you this early, and many of you probably have guessed at the reason for being here. It's now 6.30 am while it's 10.30 pm GMT and 5.30 Jakarta time. On 10.00 Central Indonesia Time, which also the one in Manila, we will be officially at war with the United Caliphate Confederation. Ladies and gentlemen, I want to know the situation first before deciding."

"Mr. President" Admiral Sugijono pointed at several dots across the map of India along with the Indian Ocean displayed at one of the digital screens on the side of the room.

"Approximately one hour ago Caliphate forces had crossed the disputed Line of Control and the International Border in a massive and multi-pronged ground and airborne assault against India. They also extensively conducted air raids, ballistic missile strikes in which we had confirmation that chemical warheads has been deployed, and attacks by both regular army and Quds Legion commandos supported by local collaborators, against a number of Indian targets both military, industrial and historical."

"How successful are they?" asked Defense Minister Binsar Simanjuntak.

"Because this is still fresh and subject to further changes... mixed results so far. The commandos along with local collaborators had caused a significant damage, but the Indians had successfully stopped the rest or minimize the damage, to include an attempted attack on three of their nuclear plants; Rajashtan, Kovvada, and Kakrapar and their naval installations, with exception of INS Trata, one of their coastal missile defense base and two facilities in Visakhapatnam. Latest report indicates they had started the repair process. Mr President."

"Meanwhile, their air raids and missile strikes managed to knock out four of their air bases, in particular Pathankot AFS along with the occupation of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and several Northern Indian major cities; Faridabad, Chandigarh and Amritsar, but in the Western border, formerly known as the International Border the Indians hold firm despite casualties and air raids against the state of Rajashtan, Punjab, and Gujarat. PPDU had lost a significant number of aircraft so far as well as a number of ships. Also, the UCC forces in Bangladesh were also raided the eastern part of India, with their air base in Kolkata was hit."

Sugijono looked at his fellow admiral, Kasenda, which agreed.

"As KOGABWILHAN I commander, I have ordered the Majapahit carrier group, which was under my purview, to get closer to allied formation, namely, the Japanese Zuikaku, the Indian Vishal, and the American Saratoga, to defend and block the strategic Arab Sea." reported General Pasaribu.

"The situation is mixed, but the faster we deploy our forces here to reinforce the Indians and our own, the better." said ACM William.

"Now, we will choose the first unit to be sent to India. Also, I want to know any informations about any allied units disposition, if necessary" asked Latuperissa.

"As we already know the KRI Majapahit task force in it's routine deployment to the Indian Ocean, has already given permission since last three months to use force, and are currently engaging Caliphate forces in India, alongside the Vishal, Saratoga, and Zuikaku." said Admiral Kasenda.

He continued. "Under PPDU framework I had received request from the Singaporeans and the Malaysians to activate the plan in which they will attach their own joint naval squadron of frigates, submarines, and fleet oiler named Unity Squadron, under our command."

"We also confirmed the departure of the USS Lexington (CVN-83) from their bases in American West Coast, with their stated goal to reinforce the Saratoga task force along with their Marines on tow. Furthermore the USS Intrepid (CVN-85) had also been stationed in the waters of Guam. We also have two more allied carrier groups; the British HMS Prince of Wales departing from Australia, and Korean UKS Joseon, which has been positioned alongside the American mobile offshore base USS Dewey, deployed 70 nautical miles south of Maldives. I had also ordered the acceleration of the construction of our own floating base in the area."

"Last but not least, the Vladivostok Pact fleet centered on Chinese carrier Fujian (a Type 003 class CVN) and Russian Izmail had been there conducting their own operations, against Caliphate forces in the Bay of Bengal under approval of India." said Kasenda.

"As you speak, Chairman, I had officially ordered two fighter squadrons to be deployed to India. I planned also to send the 3rd Fighter Wing and 40th Air Mobility Wing, together with the 501st AEW&C Wing." said ACM Handjaja.

"The first of my Army soldiers to go to India will be the Kostrad 1sy Infantry Division, which currently assigned as the Quick Reaction Strike Force as well as being part of the PPDU Response Force, followed by the Wirabuana and Siliwangi Divisions.". Both three units I mentioned has been trained in desert warfare in the United States and China and already in position to be airlifted to Bihta, Darbhanga, and Lucknow AFS in India. In fact our paras had already on their way with their support vehicles and artillery bound for New Delhi to reinforce the Indians. Udayana Division will then be the first to reinforce them (the paratroopers)." said General Munardo while also pointed toward the Marine Corps Commandant.

The latter speaks "My boys and girls are ready for deployment anytime. I've received report that the PPDU Joint Forces Command had planned an amphibious invasion of Somalia, with the endgame of a grand assault on the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula. They repeatedly requested us to send our Marines to join. Those confirmed participating in the invasion are the United States, Britain, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. And so we had designated the 2nd Marine Force (Divisin) that are currently sailing into their position near the coast of Bangladesh awaiting further orders."

"The more the merrier" said the PM.

Later, the Army logistics commander speaks. "As we know, India-Pakistan border are mostly arid, also the Middle East. The Levant area, such as in Lebanon, Israel, or Syria, can have snows in winter. Thankfully, Rajasthan and Gujarat area were still largely in Indian hands. Their Army managed to hold the Caliphate at bay; back to logistics, the forces will be issued desert camouflage. As I speak, when the Siaga 1 alert has been enacted, we in the logistics are quickly mobilizing first to prepare necessary supplies including appropriate camo and gears especially winter and desert one."

Army transportation commander also added. "After I heard whose unit will be deployed, can I contact the Ministry of Transportation to hijack some trains, rapid transits, and buses for us?"

Sugijono said "Certainly. Execute it immediately, I just want to recommend that action, but you seem to read our move well, good thing. And don't forget trailer trucks for the heavy equipments."

"After this, can I also activate the AUCN (Armada Udara Cadangan Nasional/Civil Reserve Air Fleet)?" ask the commander of the Air Force Air Mobility Command.

"Good initiative! I'll make sure the Commander of the Transportation Command know and authorized the activation." said Sugijono again. "I think the merchant navy also must be notified too" he said, pointing towards the commander of the Military Sealift Command of the Navy.

Army Territorial Defense/National Guard commander, General Eko Gunawan then said "I also planned to initially activate two combat brigades from the Guard. But for now, I will instead activate mostly combat support and combat service support units under my command to speed up mobilization and supporting deployment, along with units earmarked for internal security duty in support of the NPA and Coast Guard. Furthermore I'll start calling up the reserves in D+10, Mr. President."

Finally, the President replied "General, I suggest you began the call up earlier, D+5, in order to get them trained better. And we will need the ready-reserve combat unit from the Guard as well to be activated. Now when we are fully ready for deployment?"

"...for the airlifted component (outside the paratroopers), I can estimate we can start hauling our boys and girls to India within 48 to 150 hours" said General Munardo optimistically.

"For the Navy, the element of 1st Fleet not yet deployed had recently underwent maintenance for it's principal vessels and support assets, also their ordnance is being fully stocked. so, I believe they will be ready to sail in 24 to 48 hours for rendezvousing with our Asian allies and reinforce the flagship Majapahit" said Admiral Kasenda.

"For the Air Force, first squadrons will be sent to India in four hours." Said ACM Handjaja.

The Prime Minister concluded the briefing, "Understood, you're to have our force ready for deployment on December 6th. The faster the better. Get to work, we did not have much time. Yes, the Indians have large, well-trained, and battle-hardened army with high-tech equipment to boot, but they could be in an unsustainable position if we did not send our forces as fast as we can."

And so the nation went to the war footing; within hours, civilian flights were reduced, especially international one to free up aircraft for transporting mobilized troops and other military matériel to India. Ferries, buses, rapid transits, trucks, and trains, both regular and high-speed, were also commandeered for the same purpose. Some hospitals prematurely discharged patients deemed healthy enough to be outpatient in order to make room for any casualties along with wounded and sick refugees from the subcontinent and beyond who were expected to enter Indonesian territory. Random checkpoints were instituted nationwide by state and federal police and Army National Guard to catch and intern deserters and other potential subversives. In fact, many non-violent ex-NII and FDNI labor camps and regular prison inmates and those with good conducts were released earlier to make room for the internees.
