"Brody, have you seen my blue hijab?" I shouted whilst I was still searching in the closet.
I have like a thousand hijabs and when I was looking for one, I could never find a single one.
"You mean this blue one? Because you have like a 100 blue hijabs." he said holding a blue scarf up.
"Yeah that's the one, thanks hun." I said trying to grab my scarf but Brody pulled it away and held it behind his back.
"Brody I can't be late c'mon!"
"And what do I get for finding your scarf?" He teased. He had his both hands behind his back and I knew what he wanted from me.
"If I have to." I gave in followed by a kiss. I grabbed my hijab whilst I pressed my lips against his.
"Thank you" I said walking away to the bathroom.
"You're very welcome." he responded following me into the bathroom.
I was doing my hijab in the bathroom and you know the struggles if you're a hijabi.
Brody stood behind me, wrapped his arms around my neck and was looking at me in the mirror whilst I was doing my hijab.
"You really think this is going to work huh?" I said giving up. I took off my hijab and turned around to face Brody.
"Well maybe you should stay at home." he said kissing my neck.
"I have a job interview, I wanna make a good impression and not be late." I said quietly.
To be honest, I wanted to stay at home. In bed all day, laying in Brody's arms. And he was doing everything he could to convince me.
Brody grabbed me more tigthly and continued kissing my neck and eventually moved to my lips.
We were kissing for a few seconds until I interrupted our moment.
"-Okay" I whispered pushing him gently away. "I really don't wanna be late." I added.
"You sure?" He whispered moving his mouth from mine and started kissing my neck again.
"Brody, we really need to get going soon."
"Okay fine, I'll let you do your thing." he finally gave in and released his grip.
"I love you." Brody said.
"I love you too." I kissed him one more time and watched him leave the bathroom.
Finally, now don't make this hard on me, be a good scarf and work with me.
"You ready?" Brody asked when I was finally done doing my hijab. One day my scarf was on in about 2 minutes, other days it took me 5 tries, and I had one of those days.
"Yes." I responded relieved and sligthly nervous.
"You took like 2 hours, in between then and now we could already h-"

"-Brody stop", I pushed him slightly in a playful manner. "You never stop do you?"
"Just trying to make you less nervous."
What a guy.
"Yeah sure that's why." I laughed.
Brody was going to drive me to my interview. I was too nervous to drive myself.
The interview was a few minutes away. The view from the car window immediately caught my eye. I was observing the green fields we were passing by. The trees were so full and green. The car was going pretty fast, and things were whizzing by my eyes. I also was thinking about what questions they could possibly ask me.
I just hope that they don't have a grudge against my religion because I really need this job. Brody and I are married for almost a year now and the bills aren't gonna pay themselves. Also Brody's mom is visiting us this evening so I was also thinking about what I could possibly make for dinner.
"Hey you okay." Brody asked as he saw how nervous I was. Brody placed his hand on my shoulder and began to rub it gently
"You're going to do just great, love." I took his hand and entangled my fingers with his.
We approached our first stoplight at a brisk rate of speed. The light turned yellow, but most cars didn't stop. Brody applied the brakes and our speed moderated, but we kept driving forward at a pretty good speed until we eventually stood still.
"Just scared they going to judge me you know." I responded. I'm a really nervous person so you can imagine how nervous I was at that moment.
"They will not, just relax." he kissed me on my cheek and continued driving as soon as the light turned green.
"Is it still-", Brody said but stopped in the middle of his question.
I looked at him but he was distracted by something else. I turned around and saw a distant hint of lights as another vehicle ignored a red light and approached the intersection. And within seconds, he hit us full force on the passenger side of the car.
..
"Miss-Miss" I heard someone shouting.
My head was hurting like hell, what happened?
"She's awake, she's going to be okay." the person then shouted again but in a different direction.
"Miss, c'mon stay with me"
"What hap- where is Brody?" I immediately asked when I suddenly remembered what happened.
I tried standing up but they kept me down.
"Take it easy, the car flipped over a few times and your husband didn't make it, I'm sorry."
"What? How? No!", I said, tearing up. I couldn't believe what just happened.
The car hit me at my side, I don't understand why I am still alive and he is .. he is dead. That's not fair.

"But how, no this can't be happening." I started crying.
As I laid there I tried to understand what was happening. I wasn't supposed to be here. It was all just a bad dream, and I would wake up soon and see Brody lying besides me at home. We were safe in bed, with another lazy morning stretching out before us. There was simply no other explanation.
But then it was right back to reality.
"I guess you and your baby have some gardian angel that doesn't want to see you both die." the woman responded.
I looked around me but mostly only saw the blue sky. I heard people shouting and talking which made my headache even worse.
Wait a sec..
"My baby?" I asked still upset and confused.
"Congratulations, you're pregnant." the doctor said.
Suddenly, two nurses were at my side. One was asking for my name and trying to get my vital signs while putting a neck brace around my neck. The other one was putting a leg brace on my leg. I just stared at them helplessly, hoping that they would stop and simply leave me alone.
"I WANT BRODY, WHERE IS HE?" I started shouting but it was like nobody could hear me. The doctor and nurses were just staring at me with massive smiles on their faces.
"What the hell is so funny?" I shouted again whilst tears were streaming down.
"You are!", the doctor said. "Wake up will you." they simultaneously kept repeating.
What the-
..
"Safiaaaa"
"Safia.. -babe, wake up you're shouting in your sleep again."
As I opened my eyes I saw that Brody leaned in over me and brushed my hair from my face in a featherlight touch.
Thank God.
"What- " I said confused.
"Did you have the same nightmare again?" He asked. "You were sweating so much." he added.
"Yeah but it was different this time" I sat up and rubbed my eyes to get a more clear vision.
I was having a light headache, probably because I haven't been sleeping properly the last few nights.
I laid back down next to Brody and was thinking about my nightmare.
Brody kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms around me.
"Try to sleep again love, I'm right besides you." he whispered.
Brody was fast a sleep but I didn't go back to sleep that night. I had the same nightmare before but I always woke up right when the accident happened. This was the first time I didn't wake up until after. I released myself from Brody's grip and went to the bathroom.
I looked at myself in the mirror and washed my face. I then looked at my stomach and placed me hand on it. What if my nightmare was telling me I was pregnant?
How do I tell Brody I was thinking that my nightmare was partly true. He's going to think I'm crazy. Even though I was scared for his reaction, I was still going to tell him as soon as he wakes up. We promised to tell each other everything so that's what I'm going to do.
As we were eating breakfast I was looking for the right time to tell him what I was thinking.
"Did you sleep after you woke up from your nightmare?" Brody asked.
"Not really." I responded.
"So still the same one where a car hits us from the side?" He also asked.
"Yes but this one continued until after the accident."
He stopped eating and locked his eyes with mine.
"What happened after that?"
"They told me I was pregnant" I said. "Oh and you died."I added.
"Really?" He said raising his eyebrows.
"Now I know why you're so quiet", he said. "You think you're really pregnant because of your nightmare, don't you."
"Yeah, is that crazy?" I asked.
Sometimes I forget how good Brody knows me.
"Of course not babe, I'll buy a pregnancy test later on so we can settle this okay?" He said, trying to soothe me.
I nodded and we both continued eating.
"But explain this, the car hits you from your side, but you live and are still pregnant but I die?" He asked confused.
"It's just a dream, weird things happen." I responded.
"Uhu or.." he stopped took a bite and continued, "you just want me dead".
"Shut up." I said kicking him under the table. "Not funny."
Brody kept his word and went to buy the pregnancy test. He came home an halfhour later and I immediately went to the bathroom to take the test.
As I was done I opened the bathroom door and Brody sat down on the bathtub, both waiting for the result.
"I know that we agreed to wait until we were at least married for 4 years and we've only be married for almost one, but are you going to be upset if you are pregnant?" Brody asked probably because I looked really nervous.
I took my eyes of the test and looked at Brody. "Of course not, I'll be happy no matter what." I said kissing him on his lips.
"Okay, ready." I said grabbing the pregnancy off the counter and holding it flat on my hand.
I smiled and looked at him, "What's the verdict?" He asked nervously.
I could feel tears stinging my eyes. I looked at the test once again, looked up at Brody and smiled.
"It's positive!"
