🖤 🖤
I gasp loudly, almost as if I had been holding my breath the entire time. I'm panting up and down and clutching my test tightly, trying to grasp what just happened.
Where the fuck did it go?
I start panicking and looking down towards the floor, knowing I must have dropped it. That was truly the only reasonably explanation. There's no way that the godly items absorbed into me?
After searching the surrounding area in a panicked frenzy, I stop as I succumb to the truth. The crazy concept that they had joined and melted into my body... was true.
The thought made my stomach churn and all the colour drain from my face at once.
I quickly sprint to my bathroom, throwing up all the contents from my stomach into the toilet. Sobbing loudly, I reach up for the sink and splash water over my face, staring into the mirror which reflected someone I hardly knew anymore. I looked awful, but I felt powerful. A new surge of energy had made itself known and lively for the first time in a long time, stirring within me.
A sharp knock sounds on my door and I walk over, not expecting anyone at this hour. Lenna immediately enters my apartment as soon as I open my door, and turns slightly accusingly towards me.
"I thought I heard some struggling or something, are you okay?"
I'm most definitely not okay.
"Oh— I'm fine," I say to her with an innocent smile. "I'm not sure what you think you heard? Maybe some other neighbours or something." Her eyebrows furrow slightly but she doesn't press me much further.
"Hm, maybe." She's still peering around my room, looking as if she is almost searching for someone.
"Um, can I help you?" I snap my fingers in front of her face; drawing her away from her own prying eyes. "What are you looking for?"
"Klayton," she says, huffing, and she turns to face me once again. She sniffs around the air. "Is he not here?"
"No," I shift uncomfortably under her scrutinizing state. "I mean— he was here not too long ago, but his scent may or may not be lingering. Why?"
"Who is here?" Lenna takes a step towards me and I take one back. I didn't like this side of Lenna; my best friend. She wasn't being threatening in anyway and I wasn't scared, but she seemed weirdly off at the moment.
I didn't like it.
"No one." I snap at her. "What are you trying to get at?" Lenna sighs at my response and grumbles in small frustration. I'm weirded out by her right now and I don't know how to handle it...
"It's just— he's my Alpha," Lenna says and pinches in between her eyebrows in annoyance. "You're my best friend. I heard weird groans and such coming from here and I don't want to assume anything but..."

Oh God.
How the hell am I going to explain this one?
My necklace was melting into my fucking skin.
"Honestly, nothing was going on," I tell her, smoothly lying right to my best friends face.
"But I heard groaning noises?" She presses. I shrug it off easily.
It's probably because I felt like I was fucking dying 10 minutes ago.
"It's probably a neighbour or something," I say to her reassuringly. "The walls are so thin, and with your hearing... it could have been anyone."
The lie comes off my tongue so easily, and it seemed that Lenna believed me. Shortly after, she left my apartment and I turned against the door, sighing exhaustedly. Instinctively, my fingers reach up to touch the necklace that wasn't there anymore, but I knew it was within me. I felt the power stir deep within me and a wistful noise escaped from the back of my throat. I was longing for the rest, although enjoying the new found energy soaring within me.
I felt different, in a good way tonight. I curl myself into my bed for the night, trying not to think of what my life has become since I've moved to Myersdale.
The good and the bad.
~
Starting today off, I step outside my shower with my towel wrapped tightly around me. My blonde locks are dripping down the side of my face and I wrap a loose towel around my head, aiming to soak up most of the water.
I drop my towel to step into the fresh pair of clothes I have, but before I do, I notice something different in the mirror. I gasp, leaning over my bathroom counter sink to inspect my body more closely.
My eyes... have changed colour.
A dark purple.
Like the way the moon illuminates in the sky amongst all the stars. A beautiful purple... one I hadn't seen coming.
This must be due to the soul I retrieved yesterday. Klayton and the others will surely notice this drastic change. How the hell am I going to explain this one?
Once I had gotten dressed in a rushed manner, I throw my hair up into a ponytail and leave my apartment. I know I've finally found a piece of the Moon Goddess' soul, however there's more out there. And since my eyes have changed colour, there's no way I can hide this from Klayton. There's no way he wouldn't notice.
I'm going to have to show him and tell him the truth about it all, or find a damn good way to cover it up.
Let's go with the latter.
Nervously, I walk all the way to Klayton's house. He's usually here, but sometimes he's at the pack house. Hoping for the best, I knock on his door and wait for him to open it. Right about now, I wish I had werewolf hearing to know.

Not a moment goes by before Klayton almost yanks the door open with a huge grin on his face. He pulls me inside and kisses my cheek, burying his face in my neck as he embraces me warmly. We hold each other close, before he gently pulls away.
"I'm so glad you came over. I was just about to call you," Klayton tells me while pulling me inside his house. I trail behind him closely as he leads us both to his enormous kitchen. I haven't said a word yet.
"Are you hungry at all?" He asks me, while grabbing a cereal bowl from the cupboard. I shake my head no and he hums a tune, completely oblivious to the butterflies going crazy in my stomach. I sit down on one of the stools he has placed next to the kitchen island, watching him pour his cereal into the bowl. Just as he picks up the bag of milk to mix the cereal, he pauses at looks towards me with furrowed eyebrows.
"What?" I ask nervously, tapping my fingers against the counter in a way to calm some of the anxiety I'm feeling right now.
"Why are you wearing sunglasses inside?"
"Oh," I start. "I-I don't know how to explain this actually." Everything I had planned to say right now completely blanked from my mind, and I was perplexed. How does someone explain this fucked up situation?
"Well?" he presses. The fun demeanor Klayton had previously displayed has vanished, and serious Klayton is now here. He knows something is up. Sighing, I decide to jump into it.
I tell him everything.
The next hour is spent telling Klayton everything I know about the situation that I have been placed in. I tell him about Artemis having all of the heirs killed —her own family— due to her own personal, selfish agenda. I also mention the fact that before Artemis' sister Theia died, she had scattered pieces of the Moon Goddess' soul around and it was my calling to find them all.
Throughout the entirety of my explanation, I had kept my sunglasses on. This was the sort of thing you need to leave for last. Klayton had been very understanding, nodding when needed and listening intently. He's mature enough to know the severity of everything I have said.
"So why you? What makes you the one to do all of this?" He finally asks.
"Well I am an heir to the Moon Goddess," I tell him. I reach my hands up to my face, pulling the glasses off and peering up at him through my dark lashes. "Everything has happened for a reason. Once I had absorbed that first scattered soul, I guess it was one of the first pieces of the puzzle... I am slowing becoming the next Goddess of the Moon."
Klayton stares at me with wide eyes, his jaw open slightly in fascination. I don't stop him when he reaches for my face, looking into my purple eyes. I blink, and he blinks, lost away in the unique colour.
"There's no way..." He says quietly, trying to peel his eyes away from but having difficulty doing so.
"I'm afraid so," I whisper back nervously. I hadn't asked for this life, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. If this is what Destiny had for me, if this what was meant for me and was written for me...
If this was written for me in the stars...
Suddenly it dawns on me what Destiny was aiming to say to me earlier. She is a Goddess of the Stars.
The Moon and the Stars, how they got along so well...
like Destiny and I.
A comfortable silence fills the room around us while we just hold eachother in the kitchen. My thoughts are swarming everywhere and I'm sure Klayton's are too. I look up to him.
"What now?" I ask the dreaded question.
"Well," Klayton tells me while caressing the side of my face. "Now, we find a witch."
~
"Remind me how you know her again?" I ask him as we stand outside the small hut that is supposed to be her home. Here we are, just outside of Myersdale in the forest. The journey hadn't taken us long, but did take Klayton quite a while for him to find her in the first place.
"She was supposed to be dead," he mutters. "Clearly, she isn't. All the stories of her passing must have just been rumors, I guess, which accumulated over a period of time. I spent days searching for clue after clue when Artemis dissolved our bond. Finally, I have my last clue."
"Which is?"
"Well, this." He says while pointing to the broken down shack we were standing in front of. I look towards the man I've come to love with a face of bewilderment.
"Are you clinically insane? This place looks deadly! No one could live here." I tell him sternly, crossing my arms over my chest. This is nuts. He's lost his actual mind.
"You're right." He says. Oh? "She doesn't live here, this is a false perception. I figured it out, finally."
"Do tell."
"The way in, is through magic."
I laugh.
"And where the hell are you gonna get that?" I smirk at him. This man thinks he's so smart —to have finally figured all of this out in a few days, after God knows how long he tried to find this woman priorly.
Klayton looks me deeply in the eyes —my now purple eyes— and my previously confident stance falters slightly.
"I think I have a pretty good idea," He says softly.
Me.
