《Alpha Klayton | ✔️》18 |

Isaac has calmed Klayton down enough to allow him to recite more information he found. It seemed to haunt him, as he didn't understand what the riddles meant.
Klayton had read another riddle which had sent him over the edge; his animalistic side wanting blood for whoever cursed me.
He had read it aloud once he settled down, and it was amazing how this old relic continued to
perplex the group of us.
I glance around, my eyes falling on everything surrounding us. We had been here for a while. The library had grown dim as the light faded from outside. The only source now came from the dust-covered lamps surrounding. The click of the door indicated that the librarian had left for the evening, and she didn't even bother asking her Alpha to leave.
I could essentially now tell who a werewolf was based on how they looked— even when they were older, their athletic builds and sharp features gave them away almost instantly. I felt pretty confident about this newly acquired knowledge. I grin at my own thoughts.
Myersdale was practically all werewolves anyways.
I went to a table situated in the back of the library; now the four of us sat amongst one another. We haven't said anything in a couple of minutes.
Of course, it was Isaac who broke the silence. He had yet to lose his goofy optimism, as I certainly had.
"Damn, I didn't expect that," he breathes. Klayton's eyes glare into his Beta's head, almost piercing his soul. He always pretended that Issac annoyed him, but anyone who looked past his tough exterior could see they were best friends.
A sigh comes out of my mouth involuntarily, and my head makes a thump as it connects with the wood of the table.
I suddenly feel his hand on my back.
Ever since I took off the necklace, I could feel that it was his touch, even though my clothes.
"Read it to me again," I say silently.
The ripped pages of the book lay on the desk. My eyes find Lenna, and I watch as she is desperately trying to flatten one of the pages with her hands.
Klayton sorts through the papers before finding the one, and he reads aloud for what seems like the hundredth time...
"All others to attempt to perform this magic,
Will meet an end that is tragic.
There is the sound of their death knell,
She is the only one who may bind the spell.
Those who are not the Goddess of the Moon,
Are sure to meet their doom.
Magic so strong that you must be an h—
To wear the mark, she bared."
I frown as Klayton dismisses reciting the words written. The second last sentence, had been obstructed by the aged paper. It was impossible to see the word that was supposed to be there.

The words made an ache grow in my head, my head starting to throb as anxiety fills me briefly.
Lenna sat back in her seat.
The meaning behind the words forced us all back into a stunned silence. Klayton said earlier he thought the missing word was human, but something inside me told me otherwise.
"I can't believe the Moon Goddess is the one who did this to you, why would she want to keep you guys apart?" Issac's voice rang out in the empty room, bouncing off books and shelves. Klayton growled under his breath. He didn't know why either, and he wasn't happy about it.
That part was obvious.
My hand brushed against his thigh in an attempt to calm him, and I could feel his muscles tighten under my touch. His lips lifted at the corners for the first time in hours.
I wanted him so bad, right here. I could feel my core warm at the thought.
Yet his eyes didn't meet mine, and I was sure he was resisting the urge to act on my thoughts.
Lenna's next words made me pull my hand away, snapping me back to reality.
"Didn't you know the Mood Goddess?" the question is directed at Klayton. He seems to think, the gears turning in his brain before choosing his words wisely.
"You could say that," he chuckled under his breath. It made me mad that this was the most emotion I had gotten out of him for the last several hours. Suddenly I am haunted by the words from my dream— a dream that seemed like a lifetime ago.
My dream of the Moon Goddess. Her angelic voice rang throughout my head and I remembered what she had said to me:
"The first one I made was my favourite, but his fate is not with me. It's with you,"
The realization hit me all at once.
She was talking about Klayton; he was the first werewolf she had created. I start to shake my head. My hands wrap into my hair in astonishment.
This was too much.
I get up so quickly that my chair knocks back. It doesn't hit the ground, as Klayton's arm shoots out and catches it in time. I'm mad that he hadn't told me this before, the concept of my 'curse' had just gotten a lot more personal.
I'm convinced the Mood Goddess did it to either to keep me away from Klayton, or to spook him away from me.
"Make her undo it!"
I sound like a whiney little kid as I cry out. I'm exasperated. I want to shed my own skin. Why would anyone do this to another person? I felt like I didn't even know who I truly was— was anything in my life real?

Klayton looks sad as he stands up and takes a step towards me. I hadn't noticed that I started to back away, and he frowns at my movements.
He quickly glances at Issac and I know what's happening. He's silently telling him to leave. I know what is coming is worse, whatever it will be.
Soon, it was only the two of us in the room.
Standing staring at each other. Not saying a word. We hadn't communicated anything with our words, but our bodies were speaking a different language.
You could cut the sexual tension with a knife.
I wanted to jump on him. I had done it once here, what is once more? I can see that his thoughts are similar. As he recalls the last time, mirroring my own naughty thoughts, his eyes grow dark.
It makes me want him more.
I can feel the bond inside me like a rope; pulling me towards him and twisting in bliss.
I can see him recover quickly when one of the pages on the edge of the table brushes to the ground unexpectedly.
"No one has seen her in years, she visits no one. We aren't even sure if she's in our world anymore."
I've never seen him so sad as when he thinks about the idea of her being gone. I wanted him to care for me like that. He always just angry instead, but I wanted this... No, I needed it.
"She came to me, in a dream— We just have to find her. I know she is here," I counter, crossing my arms. I'm proud of myself. I'm gonna prove him wrong.
Klayton looks at me and takes a step forward, his arms outstretched. There is pity in his eyes.
"Oh Adira, that's impossible. You are human."
But I know better. I know it was her.
"That doesn't mean anything, I know what I saw!"
Klayton sighs and walks past me towards the door, pulling it open.
"Let's just go," he says.
I walk towards him and walk through the open door. He catches my wrist as I'm almost completely out the door. However, I just keep walking, shrugging off his loose grip on me.
Of course, like every good drama cliché I somehow was involved in, it was raining outside.
I was almost instantly drenched.
And like any cliché, I turn and kiss him.
Hot and heavy. Our wet clothes make it feel as if his skin is on mine. I can feel every inch of his body. Especially the part I want to feel the most. I rub myself into him wanting to forget about earlier.
I thought it was going to work.
It does take him a minute to respond, but when he realizes I am trying to distract him, he pulls away.
"Adira stop this!" He jerks back on my hold, holding me in place in front of him. His anger made me furious. I could feel our bond feeding off his emotions.
I don't hold myself back.
"I know you were the first!"
He doesn't reply.
"I know she made you first!" I yell at him and his face goes blank at my words, and he almost pales at my outburst. The fury inside me is burning, and I continue with a steely tone.
"And that red book I found, that was your template? She was lonely, so she created you! The first wolf. Is that why I'm cursed? Because she wants you for herself? Is that it Klayton!?"
Pain strikes through my wrist. It makes me quickly flinch in small pain, but I aim to conceal it.
Klayton's eyes aren't the usual black eyes I'm so used to gazing into, but they shine golden and his teeth turn sharp. I shriek as I pull away. I'm surprised that he doesn't try to stop me.
His nails had transformed into claws and dug into my skin. I hold my bleeding wrist against my chest.
He snaps back when he hears my cry. His emotions are indescribable. He looked completely ashen and ashamed and reaches for me gently. He leans down.
"You don't know what you are talking about, it wasn't like that," he says as he grabs my hand, examining the damage with a face stricken in pain. "This is probably why she put this spell on you. Werewolves shouldn't have human mates. They are too... fragile."
"So, what are you saying?" I look up into Klayon's eyes and they are swimming with regret. I know he doesn't want to do this, but he isn't breaking. His eyes tear from mine and he refuses to look at me; his gaze focused above my head.
I wish this would stop happening between us. The ache in my heart at this point almost seems permanent. Doesn't he know this hurts me too?
I grab his chin and try to pull his face to mine. His hand comes to my uninjured wrist and pulls my skin away from his. This simple movement is what made me snap.
If he didn't want me than I didn't want to be wanted.
I turned and left.
I didn't want to feel anymore.
I walked quickly unsure of where I was even trying to go.
I was going to find her.
