《Alpha Klayton | ✔️》15 |

I'm still a little disoriented from waking up, and I sputter to find words.

He looks at me expectantly.

"W-what do you mean?" I slightly cower, embarrassingly.

He glares at me harder. I want to shrink away and evaporate into dust at the way he's looking at me. I shove my duvet off my body and prance out of bed. Klayton stalks my every move, following me at an arms length as I get up to make some coffee. Shouldn't he be getting ready for lecture?

I peer at the clock and nearly drop my freshly brewed cup of coffee in shock. It was 1:47pm in the afternoon— I had missed my class.

Suddenly everything started to piece together. I turn to Klayton and look at him sheepishly.

"Look, I'm sorry I missed your class. Honestly I just slept right through it,"

"I don't give a fuck if you miss my class." His glare only slighted relented. "I was worried sick about you. When I saw you weren't there..."

"What?"

"I thought you had left."

His angry demeanour quickly shifted into a saddened one. Although I couldn't feel his emotions per-say like he could mine, I could read his face like a book.

He was sad.

"Klayton, I couldn't leave even if I wanted to." I placed my mug down and drew him closer for a small hug. "I live here now. I have friends here... and you," I smiled at him. He instantly beamed at me back, as of hearing this was the best news he has ever heard.

"I'm so glad you feel that way. I want you to be here always."

"I mean plus, I already paid my tuition," I joked.

Way too ruin a moment Addy, I mentally scold myself.

Klayton finds humour in it and bursts out laughing before hugging me even tighter.

"I just thought, with all of this information, you would be scared. I mean, you should be," he says to me quietly while we embraced.

Klayton learned down and inhaled the scent of my hair. I found comfort in the feeling, and I know he does too.

"I know I probably should be, but I think I've had enough time to adjust."

We spend the remainder of the day lounging around my apartment, talking and getting to know each other better.

I found out he has held the title of Alpha for quite a while within this pack. I knew well enough about hierarchical societies to understand the terminology.

He was the leader of his pack.

Right now, Klayton and I are snuggled up on my couch watching a movie. I have a popcorn bowl sitting on my lap as Klayton's hand is resting gently on my thigh. My head is leaning against his shoulder, and all I feel is content.

I guess Klayton had ordered some wolves to clean up my apartment, and everything seemed to be going back to normal —as normal as it could be, under the circumstances.

I reach into the popcorn bowl and scowl when I come up empty handed. Klayton is hardly paying attention to the movie, instead he is focusing on the laptop in front of him.

I can feel his fingers gently rubbing soothing circles on my thigh, and I wonder to myself if he even realizes that he's doing it.

I peer up and gaze upon his face. I look at his beautiful features and think about how perfect he really is. His jet black hair is styled neatly as always, and his lips open slightly as he is reading a paper on his laptop. I watch his eyes flicker side to side as he reads every sentence.

I'm mesmerized.

I bring my hand up and lightly trace the side of his face, my fingers dipping under his chin to feel his sharp jaw. His eyes close contentedly at my movement.

Right now, Klayton looks so relaxed. So carefree, and youthful.

A thought suddenly strikes me and I casually snatch my hand away. I lean back to look him square in the face, confusion etched all over mine. He looked stunned at my quick action.

"How old are you?" I couldn't help but ask.

His eyebrows shoot up at the question and he looks visibly tense. He scoots a bit away from me on the couch and looks sideways.

"How old do you think I am?"

I almost scowl at his witty reply. I continue, "I saw the red book, remember?"

He clears his throat at my statement.

"Yes I do recall," he says. "I'm 247 years old."

My jaw drops open.

"Holy fucking shit," I say to him— my mouth still agape. I mean, I shouldn't really be all that surprised. He is a werewolf.

Being that old isn't the craziest thing I've learned thus far. I close my mouth and look at him perplexed. He looks almost nervous for my next words.

"So, you're into younger women eh?" I teased, aiming to lighten the mood.

He looks at me in shock, before we both burst out in laughter. Klayton laughs so hard he almost falls off the couch, although catching himself before he does.

He looks at me and wipes a small tear out of the corner of his eye; his face alight with sheer happiness.

"You're more perfect than I could have ever imagined," he says to me quietly. He brings his hands up beside my face and leans down to kiss me gently. We both smile as we pull away from one another.

Another thought plagues me.

"How come you are so old?"

"Due to my Alpha blood, I live longer. I'm built to out run, out kill and out live every creature." He says it proudly, but I can sense a small token of loneliness at his words.

"Were you ever lonely?" I whisper the words so quietly I wasn't sure he could hear me. Of course, with his werewolf hearing, he could.

"I was," he whispers back. "Sometimes so lonely I wanted to die. I lost my closest friends, my family... everyone, over all the years. I would watch them find their mates, fall in love, grow old and die together. Honestly it was agonizing. I never thought I would have that."

My eyes swell up with unshed tears at his confession. Klayton looks torn, and I wish I could console him somehow. He looks at me and wipes my eyes, smiling slightly.

"Do not feel bad for me, my darling. Now that I have found you, my life is complete. I can truly live now,"

At his words, I crush him into a hug. I put all my warmth and affection into this hug and Klayton squeezes me back equally.

"I'm glad I found you too," I couldn't help but announce as well. "I feel like I've known you my whole life, it's crazy."

"Well, in a sense, you have. We are half of the same soul; we belong together."

I'm not sure if it was the words he said, or the way he said it, but that was the cutest thing I've ever heard. I melted at his words.

I'm not sure if I really believe in the Moon Goddess, but if she was real, I sure am grateful she paired me with such an exceptionally sweet gentleman.

I think I'm starting to fall for him.

And it was driving me crazy.

After we cuddled a bit more, and after a very heavy make-out session, I say goodbye for the night. Begrudgingly, and after a few convincing kisses, he relentlessly left and went home.

It was around 7pm, and I had texted with Lenna earlier agreeing that we could go to the library and study for our classes.

Isaac was going to join us as well, and there were a few things I wanted to discuss with the pair of them.

Once I had arrived, Isaac and Lenna sat almost stiffly as I reached them. We were in a small corner of the library, and no one else was around us. This place always seemed so vacant.

"So," Isaac is the first to speak between the three of us. "You know we are werewolves."

My jaw almost drops at his statement, but I am quick to recover. How did he know that's what I wanted to discuss? As if sensing my thoughts, Lenna speaks up.

"Alpha Klayton told Isaac, and Isaac told me," she says casually.

"Why would Klayton tell Isaac? Are you guys friends or something?" The confusion was laced into my voice as I peered at Isaac once more.

"Oh," Isaac scratches the back of his head anxiously. "I mean I'm not too sure how much the Alpha had told you, but, I'm the Beta of his pack."

"How old are you?"

Isaac just laughs at my question and I laugh along with him, finding a slight amount of humour in our situation. Another thought strikes me. I turn to look at both Lenna and Isaac.

"Are you two mates?"

Lenna and Isaac both look at each other wide-eyed and then burst out laughing. I scowl at the two of them, waiting for them to pipe down so I can finally get some answers. Lenna wipes a stray tear that had made its way down her cheek due to her laughter.

"No, we aren't." She says with a small smirk. Isaac jumps in to reply as well.

"We aren't mates, but we have fun with each other. It gets stressful not knowing who your mate is, so we enjoy each others company," he says with a small wink my way.

I make pretend vomiting noises while Lenna rolls her eyes at the two of us.

"Plus, we're werewolves. We have a lot of pent up energy and it has to go somewhere," She says with a slight shrug. Suddenly, Isaac leans over to whisper to me.

"I wonder how Alpha Klayton deals with all his energy."
