~Amolet

I back away from the door, looking at it as if it's going to let in a plague.

"Let him in," Amolet says, as he knocks on the door again. I shake my head, looking between her and the door. I'm the one who killed Noah. I'm the reason he is here in the first place. If he is going to be angry at any one of us in here, it's going to be me, and now is not the time for me to be wrapped up in his revenge plot.

"Seriously?" I gasp, slowly distancing myself from the door. Noah sings out again, making it very clear he knows we are in here, and isn't planning on walking away until we reluctantly let him in and confront him.

"It's not like he can kill us," Abella says with a shrug. How can she be so casual about him being here considering everything that he has done to her?

I rear back as she approaches the door and cracks it open.

Noah pushes it the rest of the way open, revealing himself. He has a sick smile on his face, although his eyes simmer with anger. He looks over Abella first, and then turns to me, eyes narrowed. My back touches the wall, pinning me into one spot. He may not be able to kill me, but surely he can wound me greatly.

"Well well, if it isn't the bitch who killed me," he mutters hands balling up into fists. There isn't anything around for me to defend myself against him, and I can't be sure my powers are going to work in this realm, now that I'm dead.

I grit my teeth. "Think Abella could say the same thing."

"Hello mate," Noah greets, finally turning his attention to Abella. I feel sick. I can't believe he still calls her his mate. Whatever goes on in his head must be seriously twisted and dark. "What an interesting turn of events, huh?"

Abella moves forward in a flash, slapping him straight across the face with enough force that it twists his head around. I gasp, unable to smother smile at the sight of Noah's stunned face.

"I can do that now, since you're dead too," she snaps, smoothing her shirt down as she steps back, looking as if she didn't just slap a dead Alpha across the face with no remorse. I can tell by her expression that she enjoyed that a lot. "He used to visit me when he was alive, to extract my power."

"What do you want, Noah?" I demand.

"To visit," he says simply, although my eyes narrow doubtfully. "To get to you before Abella did, although it seems I was a moment too late."

Abella and I exchange uncomfortable glances. I'm not sure how either of them managed to find me, but if they can, it means anyone else would be able to, if they wanted to. There's not many people I can think of other than Noah who I've crossed in death, however I'm wary that I'll come across someone else on my path to get out of here.

"I'm leaving, so it doesn't matter." I inch closer to Abella, hoping that if Noah decides he wants to attack me, she will be my back up. I mean, she looks at Noah as if he is the furthest thing from a threat right now, which is silently pleasing.

Noah rolls his eyes, still as verdant green as they were when he was alive. "No one gets out of here."

"Her mate is Immortal, if anyone is going to get her out of here, it's him," Abella sighs.

"And what will you do, Abella?" Noah questions, taking a step toward her. She doesn't match it back, not giving him the satisfaction. "Cian was always your true mate, and yet you are going to reconnect him with his true one?"

My blood goes cold, as I slowly look toward Abella. Her expression doesn't change. She hasn't seemed hostile toward me, nor has she acted with any hint that she is harbouring resentment for me to taking her mate, which she has been down here with Noah seeming to haunt her constantly. I can't help the guilt as it creeps in.

"Cian is not my mate. You made sure that bond was severed," Abella explains slowly, sounding more like she is trying to convince me then make a point to Noah. "And I want to help Amolet."

"Thing is, I'm not the biggest fan of Amolet, so I'm not going to let her out of here." Noah rests back against the door, as if he literally doesn't intend from moving to let me leave. I shouldn't be surprised, he always seemed vindictive.

Abella steps in front of me. "If you hurt her, I hurt you. Now leave."

"I think I'm perfectly okay here," Noah exclaims, examining Abella's apartment quietly. Does he seriously expect us to let him stay here just to keep me trapped? I'll throttle him with the nearest heavy item the moment he closes his eyes to sleep. "I'm not letting Amolet out of my sight."

"And how long will you be perfectly okay here?" Abella questions irritably. She isn't actually thinking of letting this slide, does she?

He smiles. "As long as it takes."

"I'll just kill you in your sleep," I snap. Or right now...

I concentrate my thoughts, imagining stepping forward to wrap my hands on his neck, imagining squeezing hard enough to restrict his breathing. Yet no matter how graphic my imagination is, I can't seem to bring any power up within me to direct it at him. Which means it doesn't work down here, or it's gone forever...

"Can't kill someone who is already dead," Noah says with a shrug, shaking his limbs as if to prove it.

I let out a long sigh as Abella steps forward. "Cut your arm off, maybe?"

"If there is anything I know about you, Abella, it's that you're not capable of cutting anyone's arm off," Noah says triumphantly. "So if you don't mind me, I'll be here, waiting it out."

Looking toward Abella doesn't seem to be much help. Even if I hate him, and could use my magic against him, I don't think I have the stomach to physically cut someone's arm off. Which means now we have the man I killed that killed Abella in this apartment with no intention of leaving.

Abella motions for me to follow her into her bedroom, leaving Noah to stretch out on the couch, keeping his eyes trained on the front door. We are a few flights up in this apartment building, meaning our only way out is through the front door.

I'm not sure how long Abella and I spend in the room, taking glances out the door at Noah, but soon say shifts into night, and fatigue stats to tug at my limbs.

"I should get some sleep, I'm exhausted," I yawn.

"It's not over yet," Abella whispers, glancing at the partially open bedroom door. She gets up, approaching her closet, pulling out two coats. One, she tosses my way. "We are leaving."

"He will notice if we go through the front door," I remind her.

"Not if we don't go through the door," she exclaims, walking toward her bedroom window, which she slides up, trying to keep it as quiet as possible. "He will wake soon, so we have to hurry."

"Where are we going?" I question, following her to the ledge. A fire escape leads all the way down to the street. The ladder might be narrow, but it's our one chance to get out of here and put as much distance between Noah and us as possible.

"To someone who knows how to get you out of here." Abella clambers out and onto the ladder, heading down swiftly.

I follow her silently, closing the door tightly behind us. My nerves don't settle until I'm onto the street and around the corner, giving us enough space for Noah to struggle to track us without knowing where we are heading. Abella doesn't supply me with any more information as we sneak down the street, no one about still, with the hour being late.

We walk for awhile, through many similar looking streets, leaving me to wonder how Abella knows how to navigate this maze that seems never-ending.

Eventually though, we make it to another building which looks no different to the others. She nods assuredly at me before she knocks, stepping back to wait.

After a few moments, the door opens, and an unfamiliar woman peeks out.

"Abella, what's going on?" she asks softly, glancing at me with warm eyes. I don't know who she is, but she's beautiful, even if there is nothing about her that would openly suggest she is capable of getting me out of here.

"This is Amolet, Cian's mate," Abella explains, gesturing at me. "I need you to help to get her out of here."

The woman looks out onto the street, before she props her open some more.

"Quick, come in."

I step inside first. This is far more homely and lived in then what Abella has, with many paintings, books and other personalised items scattered about the home. Whoever she is, she has been here for awhile.

"Can I ask what your name is?" I ask softly, looking over her. Her light brown hair is braided prettily behind her head, her eyes soft and welcoming. I'm not sure what it is about her, but I feel like I can trust her, just like I can trust Abella.

She steps forward, holding out her hand. "I'm Thea."
