《Danganronpa ocem》Chapter 1 Part 5

After saying goodbye, Chloe left my room and I lay on the bed, having no motivation to do anything else. My mind filled with thoughts.
Is Crysty the Mastermind? Was everything she said so far a lie? Why am I here? Why me?
Why me?
For the first time since I got here, I broke down. It's not a rare occasion that I cry, but this time it just felt different, because this time I really might not get out of this alive. And I know I've been waiting on this for my whole life, but it's not the same when you're not doing it willingly, you know what I mean?
You probably don't.
I fell asleep, tears still pouring out of my eyes.
...
...
...
Speakers: Good morning students! It is now 7am! Get up and have a beeaautiful day!
I got out of bed and headed to the food court to meet the others for breakfast.
Chloe: Oh Ash, good morning. I've told everyone about what we heard yesterday...
Ashlyn: Where's Crysty?
Chloe: She's... Not here.
Ashlyn: Oh.
Sophie: I've got something to say.
Everyone turned to face her. And she pulled out five white cards from her pocket.
Sophie: I found these cards in one of the boxes in the clothes shop, I thought maybe they could be used to unlock the secret room. I think we should assign five different people to use these cards on the scanner, at any time they want, and report their findings tomorrow morning.
Chloe: That sounds good to me! Who should we assign?
Sophie: I've already decided before hand. Ashlyn, Randi, Kendric, Hanako, Yu Xuan, you've literally been doing nothing since we got here, so take these cards and go try them at the scanner. Tell us your report tomorrow morning.
Chloe: Excuse me? They haven't been doing nothing! At least Ash hasn't!

Sophie: Just take the cards, you literally have to just go scan it, it'll take you five minutes.
The five of them took turns taking the cards.
Sophie: Anyway, since Crysty could be the Mastermind, please try to stay away from her, as she might murder you, and use the fact that she needs to kill the Mastermind as an excuse.
After saying our goodbyes, we went our separate ways.
I was almost at my dorm when-
Crysty: Hey Ash!
On instinct, I backed up.
Ashlyn: Oh uh, Crysty! What're you doing here?
Crysty: Oh, I was just going to grab something for my Mastermind hunt and I saw you!
Ashlyn: That's nice, well I really gotta go in my room now, I'll see you soon!
Crysty: Oh yea sure! By-
I closed the door on her and sighed in relief.
Hm. I don't really have anything to do right now, I guess I'll go find someone to hang out with.

Rachel: Hey Ashlyn!
Ashlyn: Wanna go grab something at the food court?
Rachel: I'm not doing anything right now, so sure.
Rachel and I spent some time eating and chatting in the food court.
Ashlyn: I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to spill that on you, I'm so clumsy I'm sorry!
Rachel: No it's ok, it was an accident.
Ashlyn: But the soup just so happened to land on your shirt!
Rachel: Yea, I'm not the luckiest.
Ashlyn: But you're the ultimate lucky student, aren't you?
Rachel: Yea, but that just means I was chosen by lottery. Just because I was lucky one time doesn't mean I'll be lucky forever. Luck is limited, and each person is only given a specific amount. I guess mine ran out the moment I was chosen.

Ashlyn: Come to think of it, this situation isn't really 'lucky' in a sense...
Rachel: You never know what's going to happen in this situation, it might be lucky after all, you just don't know yet.
Ashlyn: How will a killing game end well?
Rachel: Think about it, you've met people you never thought you would meet, doing things you never thought you'd ever do. I don't know how this will end, but I do know that we all have a little bit of ultimate lucky student in us, and if that's the case, anything can end well.
Ashlyn: That's... Very smart. I guess I'll go now, see you later.
Looks like I got a little closer to Rachel today!
I headed back to my dorm.
Hm. I don't really have anything to do right now, I guess I'll go find someone to hang out with.

Ashlyn: Hey Ashton, wanna walk around together?
Ashton: Sure, I could always use some company.
Ashton and I spent some time walking around together.
Ashlyn: How do you feel about this whole... Situation?
Ashton: I- I don't know... I get so scared every time I'm reminded of it... Whenever Monokuma appears, I start shaking and stuttering... A lot of times it sends me to the verge of tears.
Ashlyn: That's understandable. But you're a detective aren't you? I've never heard of such a shy detective before.
Ashton: I'm really only the ultimate detective because I solved one case on my own. It wasn't that big of a deal but everyone made it seem like one.
Ashlyn: I see.
Ashton: I'm really not worthy of being the ultimate detective, aren't I?
Ashlyn: I think you are.
Ashton: Thanks.
Looks like I got a little closer to Ashton today!
I headed back to my dorm.
Hm. I don't really have anything to do right now, I guess I'll go find someone to hang out with.

Ashlyn: Hey Kendric.
Kendric: Hi.
Ashlyn: Wanna hang out?
Kendric: Sure.
I spent some time watching Kendric play on his Nintendo switch.
Ashlyn: Do you bring your switch everywhere?
Kendric: I'm the ultimate gamer, I think I need it.
Ashlyn: You haven't said much since we got here.
Kendric: I listen, I just don't like responding.
Ashlyn: When are you going to go scan the card?
Kendric: Soon I guess.
Looks like I got a little closer to Kendric today!
I headed back to my dorm.
Speakers: Attention students, it is now 10pm. Therefore, it is now night time. Please note that the auditorium is off-limits during night time, so please exercise caution. Also note that sleeping anywhere other than the dormitory will be seen as sleeping in class and punished accordingly. Sweet dreams, puhuhuhuhu!
Ashlyn: Night time already. Before I go to sleep, I should go scan the card at the electronics shop so I have a report for tomorrow morning.
I left my room and headed to the electronics shop with my card.
Hanako: Ash! Are you here to scan your card too?
Ashlyn: Oh Hanako, Yu Xuan, yea I am.
Yu Xuan: Nice, you're just in time, we can be witnesses.
We took turns scanning our assigned cards, but none of them went through.
Hanako: I guess we'll have nothing to report tomorrow. I hope the others manage to open it.
Having discovered nothing, the three of us returned to our rooms.
I guess I should go to sleep now.
I flopped into my bed and...
...
...
...
Speakers: Good morning students! It is now 7am! Get up and have a beeaautiful day!
Alright, time to head to the food court.

Red Street Daybreak
August Samuel Hatch was born under an inauspicious pattern of stars. It's granted him what is widely considered the most unlucky of inconveniences: becoming host to a powerful but pernicious spirit that will act as his guide and protector--and one day end his life. Sairne is sworn to stand by August's side and, when the fancy strikes her, advise him, all in the service of atoning for a past life she can’t remember having committed a grave enough offense to earn her soul indentureship in the mortal realm. Bound by a celestial contract neither one can negotiate, their fates are all they've ever known. But in a city ruled by religious right and where magic runs deep as bedrock, their search for a missing friend leads them to a dark conspiracy that could transmute the very magic that binds them to their fates, and that might grant them the ultimate choice: do they save the city or save themselves? Cross-posted on Wattpad and Ao3. For fans of fantasy YA story beats if they starred adults instead, 1920s inspired setting, lots of banter, larger cast of characters, somewhat soft magic system. Completed, but being actively edited prior to posting! I'm the only captain on this ship, so mind any errors.
