《The Two Billionaires》Chapter 31

"Did you see Jesus?"
My jaw dropped at the question Alec just blurted out, who even asks that? Talk about comforting a person who is out of an attack.
"No, Alec. You and I are reserved a special place in hell." I grumbled. If only my hand was not hurting, the guy would be nursing a black eye take my word for it. You almost loose your life once and these people decide I'm not fit enough to set foot on the ground.
"Don't you dare think about it. I'm promised a miserable death if anyone even catches you walking." He yelled pushing me back on to the pillow.
I glowered causing him to sit on the couch like a wounded puppy. Darn it, now I feel like a horrible person. Lying on this bed refused to even walk is unbearable but everytime I say something firmly they give me kicked puppy looks and shut me up. They're lucky I don't have my boxing gloves.
"I'm hungry?" I smiled sheepishly.
"So, what?"
"So, you cruel human get your ass up and go get me something to eat."
"I'm not supposed to leave you alone."
"If you don't get me food, I will walk down to the cafeteria and even cheer when you are given a lecture."
"But I can't leave you alone."
"It's either you or me."
"You promised not to move or walk, and call for someone if you need anything." Alec summarised waving his finger threateningly and sauntered out.
"Get yourself a pastrami sandwich while you are at it." I yelled at his retreating figure.
As I was scrolling through my phone when Dave trudged in looking like a stray cat. His clothes were disheveled, his hair looked like a mop and face was tired but as his eyes fell on me he gave a bright smile.
I lifted my arms expecting a hug and maybe some nice words only for the idiot to crush all my hopes and whack the back of my head.
"Ouch! What was that for?" I pouted rubbing the back of my head sulkily.
"You ever pull a stunt like this and land up in the hospital, you don't even want to know what I'll do to you." Dave's eyes darkened, as though he would do well on his threat.

"Has your mom not told you to smack injured people on the head." I asked irritated that he mentioned my precious chocolate.
"Gwen you didn't remember you were injured when I caught you threatening Alec with a broken jaw ." He shot back settling a gentle kiss on my head.
"I have to ask you something?" Dave enquired sitting on the chair beside me.
"Whatever you think it is, I didn't do it." words tumbled out of my mouth, instantly regretting it as his eyes narrowed.
"We will talk about that later." he promised.
Wow, talk about digging up your own grave.
"How did you track down the hitman so fast?"Dave questioned suspiciously.
"I have my sources." I tried to appear casual.
"I'm gonna need more than that." he didn't accept it.
"Rachel helped track him down." I mumbled not meeting his eyes.
"With the way things ended between us, I don't know why she bothered."
"You were injured Dave, did you really expect her to let it go. Rachel was all set to come in and show Liam what messing with you meant. But you know how important her job is, she's held back for the moment, the least she could do was help in tracking him down."
"I didn't think she'd care." he insisted again.
"Do you actually believe that?" I questioned holding back a smile.
"The confusing female makes no sense. Once she tells me to stay away and now she has the urge to act like my knight in shining armour. She drives me crazy." Dave sounded so confused, at that moment it made me want to hug him.
"Maybe she's as confused as you are."
"Rachel doesn't have everything figured out in that devious head of hers, that will be a first." he scoffed.
"You should talk to her." I suggested hiding back a smile.
"Maybe it's time I pay her a visit." Dave said, as though he was convincing himself more than me.
"I need to take this call, I'll be right back." Dave gently kissed my forehead and marched out barking orders at someone.
"Why are you alone?" I heard a deep voice causing me to smile wickedly, he will be a nice person to bug. Hey I'm stuck in bed because of him the least he can do is tolerate my sarcasm.

"Don't you know, we come into the world alone, we die alone. What is so surprising about me sitting here alone when mean people like you don't let me go out." I rambled really spoiling for an argument.
"First your rambling, it means your hungry and stop with the dying shit. I hear that word again I will let mom baby you, trust me that is thousand times more embarrassing." Chris said sitting next to me and tucked hair behind my ear and gave me a candy bar.
I broke the candy bar into two halves and pushed one into his mouth and the other into my own savouring the sweetness. Guys I'm sharing candy with him. If that doesn't mean I like him I don't know what does.
"Why are you whining like a bitter old lady with too many cats?" He asked wiping chocolate from the corner of my mouth.
Cause that is what she is.
Shut up subconscious, no one is asking you.
"What's with that look? Tell me everything, don't you dare leave something out?" I ranted, not liking the worried look on his face, I missed his smile.
"I almost lost you." Chris whispered in the most dejected voice that it pricked at my heart. I slid my hands upto his chin and made him look at me.
"I'm safe here. Don't worry." I soothed ruffling his hair, Chris let a contended groan and crushed me to his chest, as though I would be running for the hills if someone let me go.
"When you passed out, your shirt and hand was dripping with blood, I was so scared, I thought I was too late, I didn't get to tell you how much I adore you, how much I respect you. I felt like I lost that chance, for the first time in my life I felt helpless and I didn't like it one bit. I failed you, maybe Liam wouldn't have cut you up so much if I came a little early." Chris mumbled, holding me tightly.
I buried my face in the crook of his neck, Chris pressed a kiss to my hair. I tucked my hand on his chin making him look at me "It was not your fault, and you were not late. Everything is fine, let me be happy. Stop this brooding act. I don't plan on leaving so you don't have anything to worry about." I smiled letting him see the honesty in my eyes.
Chris crashed his lips against mine, I fisted at his shirt, trying to meet his lips. He slid his hand to the back of my neck and kissed me, as though he was communicating all that he couldn't put into words. He gently bit my bottom lip and let out a playful growl when I tugged at his hair. It was kiss to reassure ourselves that even though we were stuck in the worst situations, things would be okay because we had each other's back.
"Well, well look what we caught here." An amused voice cut us off. Chris pecked my blushing cheeks and turned to see Alec, Luke and Dave standing with their jaws practically dropping to the ground.
"You and ... Him. How? When? I thought you wouldn't notice a man unless I somehow changed the course of time." Dave said blinking stupidly.
"Ok young man we have some ground rules."Luke announced dragging Chris and pushed him into a couch where the three surrounded him threateningly.
"If you ever hurt her I will make you wish you were never born." Was Luke's statement.
"If you hurt her you are no longer my brother." Was Alec's threat.
"If you make my best friend cry, I will tie you up as her punching bag." Dave warned flexing his biceps.
"And what if she hurts me?" Came Chris's small voice.
Alec looked at Dave and he in turn looked at Luke "Nah she can stomp over his heart." The three agreed causing me to burst into laughter and Chris to huff loudly.
I never planned The Two Billionaires in a series, but if 'many' of you are ready to give their story a chance I will think abt writing.

Love Of Baybur [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
The Sultanate won a huge battle against their enemies of different religion, and now left them with only a piece of land surrounded by Sultanate's forces. Baybur, a yerliyya from a backwater place, is hailed as a hero after the war for his past contributions in a strange manner and is, thus, invited to a banquet prepared by the Sultan and attended by many Great Nobles. To Baybur, who had dreams of stepping on a higher stage in Sultanate's politics, and in his Orta's ranks, this is a chance for him to shine and rise. Yet he, and many in the banquet, knows that victory is far from over. And this presents a chance, with greater risk than before, to impress the Sultan and the Pashas of the Sultanate. Sanjak-beys and Aghas of the Janissary Corps all seek to devour their enemies, both in and out of the Sultanate. And Baybur, in the midst of this brewing storm, is no different from a fish dreaming to be a dragon. But a woman he meets at the banquet changes everything; his goals, his dreams, and his fate. After all, love, without expression, is a deadly curse. As a note, Cover is not mine obviosuly, and I write this both for NaNoWriMo and Writathon. To some history lovers and nerds who specialize in it, I know you might be angered quite a deal with some things I've written.(I get the feeling when someone talks wrong foolish things in a study I know, no hate) But this is a historical fiction written by a seventeen-year-old, don't expect much from me to know every single detail. Much of my research is surface level and some things are, well, to fit plot, are changed. So bear that in mind. For schedule/chapter thingt, there will be at most five chapters until I pass the 55.555 words mark. Each chapter will be around or above 10k+ words. It is also not edited, and probably won't be unless I find a great deal of time in my hands after November to see what I lack in where. That's all. Now go read, or leap to another fiction. Enjoy!

The Sleeping Prince
Most stories start at the beginning. There's an understandable logic to that. This story, however, begins at the end.The Prince is dead, or sleeping. The armor is magic, or haunted. The castle is abandoned, or cursed. The faeries are sleeping, or mourning.Time stands still, but only there.
