《The Two Billionaires》Chapter 21

My vision blurred, the weight of my body sagging me down. I patted my cheeks unable to look at anything properly, my tears making me partially blind. I crawled up to my car, and sat up on my knees. Panic pulled at my veins, the unknown was a pool of endless possibilities, each more terrifying than the other.
The urge to pull at the strands of my hair, an intense desire to stab something or preferibly someone was too intense. The more I tried to clear my head unwanted thoughts and memories pulled and gnawed at my head like an unwanted pest.
Gwen, don't fall useless at the most important time, I scolded myself. The more you delay, more is the threat to Dave.
Dave the one person who is my rock, my
confidence, my strength, and sadly who became my weakness. Why does fate have a dirty habit of doing such nasty things. For once let me be happy. Moments like these made me terrified of happiness.
I pulled out my phone and dailed a number
with shaky hands. I tried to speak but my throat clogged my voice barley anything due to the rising panic in me.
On the third ring, I heard a small voice "Lisa did Dave tell anything about where he is going." I was surprised I could talk.
"Ms Carter, Dave might have gone home, he did leave early today." She whispered.
I cursed Dave, for all the days I forced him to take time for himself, he had go out on this cursed day. And that filthy peice of shit had taken advantage of that.
As much as I detested, I had only one option now. For Dave ,do this for him. The shaky promises of being best friends even after death made in the ignorant bliss of our childhood made me want to cry, to sob, but still it meant nothing because I could loose him.
All the happy memories I had with him were the most scary, because I feared it was the ending. I was scared I would loose the one link to my sanity.

That's enough Gwen, there is still a fight, you will not give up. I assured myself, believe in making your own destiny. Even if fate is cruel enough to take him away from me I will fight because it's my fight and it will end only when I give up.
I called another number and waited for the
annoying voice to speak up."Ross no matter which rat hole your hiding in, I want to meet you now." I said my voice steady.
"Ahh, sweetheart did you miss me." I heard at the other end of the line.
I took a deep breath and resisted the urge to hurl something at his head. This is for Dave, suck it up.
"I want to meet you." I said.
"Don't you think we should meet somewhere more romantic for our date." I heard him say.
Date, seriously this idiot will land himself in a mortuary if he doesn't keep his big mouth shut.
"Ross, for once do something in your life and listen to me" I roared.
"Geez, grumpy pants. Fine but you are the one missing out on an awesome person." I could imagine him saying that with a pout.
"I'm in my regular place, meet you in ten minutes."
"Make that five." I said driving at top speed.
Damn the speed my friend needs me.
I sent my location to Chris hoping and praying he would understand the urgency of my situation and help me out.
***
"Your even more beautiful than I remembered." The comment made me roll my eyes, this person will always be the same. Even if the world is ending he will ensure his hair is perfectly styled so he looks like the most handsome corpse.
"Track Dave's number now." I ordered.
"Say, please"
"What"
"Say please and I will do whatever you say."
"Ross please track Dave's number for me. I think he is in some danger, for once stop being a child and do it." I pleaded.

"It was fun when you were ready to kill me, but now your pleading. I can't do this now." He grumbled and took out his laptop, muttering something about me not being feisty.
Ross was a hacker, we met around a year.
He lived in a crappy apartment and had the most annoying personality. His hobby is to hit on me. So you can guess why I don't like him.
I heard a knock on the door, I hoped
somewhere in some other dimension Dave would come and tell me everything was a major misunderstanding. But that was wishful thinking.
"Are you expecting someone." Ross asked.
" Yeah I told Chris to meet me here." I admitted.
Ross eyed me suspiciously and went to the door making a dramatic flair of looking into the peephole like he was a super spy.
"Blonde hair, grey eyes. Tall and not that good looking." I heard him call out.
What, Chris and not good looking is the guy blind.
"Yeah, bring him in." I said.
Chris barged into the room and engulfed into a hug, he pressed his nose into my hair and sighed.
"Blondie, two feet distance." Ross warned.
Chris's nostrils flared, he pulled at his shirt and went towards Ross no doubt to start a fist fight.
"I don't know where Dave is, there is an massive chance of him being injured, I'm worried sick here, and if you both can't put your petty fist fights aside and help me out. Leave then." I yelled my voice firm.
"Using the location you just sent me, I used some of my contacts. They claim to have seen a black Bentley in the main Street Cafe, maybe you can find something if you pull up the security footage."Chris told looking into his phone.
"I just hacked into the cafe wifi, it shows nothing more than Dave walking out of the Cafe." Ross answers typing furiously into his laptop.
"See if you can hack into the traffic cameras." I offered.
"If I get caught Gwen, I'm gonna end up in jail." Ross said eyebrows raised.
"Then I'll bail you out, it's not the first time I'm getting you out of jail." I pointed out, causing him to give a sheepish smile.
"Can you track his car GPS?" Chris asked.
"The car GPS and his phone location both ping back to different locations, I'm not sure either of them can give you accurate details." Ross replied.
"Then I'll take one and Gwen can follow the other, it will save us more time." Chris offered.
"I'm sending you the location, follow it as I try to find him by scanning through the security cameras in surrounding places." Ross said, throwing a dismissive look.
Chris took my hand and led me out, he reassured me that Dave will be safe and got into his car and quickly rode away.
I followed the location Ross sent me, getting down I stared looking for any signs of Dave. I barely saw a few drops of blood following the trail what I saw stopped me in my tracks.
Dave lay there in a pool of his blood. His head was entirely drenched. The smell of blood was strong and intent reminding me he lay there for a long time. Tears spilled from my eyes, this is what happened to him for having my back.
I called for Chris, Ross for once in his life did something correctly and brought an ambulance. Dave was being carried on a stretcher, I could see doctors hovering over him and Chris saying something to them.
I collapsed onto a bench, no longer trusting my legs. I reached Dave, there is a chance he will live, a chance he can be my friend, that is if he wants to.
The panic and the stress pulled at my body. The last thing I remember is Ross yelling something and me falling into darkness.
