《I'm An Idiot》5

Sunlight filtered through the windows, bathing the room in a warm glow. Your eyelids fluttered open as you roused from your slumber, blinking away the sleep. Tears gathered as you let out a huge yawn, your tongue sticking out to wet your dry lips.

Your hands rubbed away the tears as you tried to sit up, only to realize that something was preventing you from doing so. In your sleep-muddled mind, you located the source that was trapping you.

Eyes landed on an arm wrapped tightly around your waist, slender fingers clutching your shirt. Tracing the arm upwards, you were met with the face of the owner that the arm belonged to – Jeon Jungkook.

You had forgotten that both of you had slept together on the same bed, wrapped up in each other warm embrace.

Lips curled into a soft smile as the corners of your eyes crinkled with fondness, drinking in the peaceful sight also known as your best friend. Bringing your hands under your head, (e/c) hues traced his features – the sharpness of his jawline, the way how his nose wrinkled like a bunny as he breathed steadily, brown tuffs sticking out in all direction.

Gone was the usual mischief smirk that donned on his handsome face, making Jungkook seemed more mature age-wise with the corners of his lips curled slightly at the pleasant dream that he was having.

Your cheeks flushed a soft pink as a hand reached out from underneath your head to trace the male's jawline. You didn't release you were holding your breath, afraid that you would wake Jungkook up and broke whatever tranquil you were feeling now.

If I only I can wake up to this sight every day, you hummed thoughtfully, the smile taking on a tint of sadness. But, sadly, it's a dream that will never come true.

So caught up in your inner musings, you didn't notice a pair of dark chocolate eyes boring into you, his gaze unwavering.

Jungkook laid there, his muscles not moving an inch as he watched the dazed look on your face – as though you were under a trance. Your eyes were unfocused, indicating that you were deep in thought. Yet, your finger didn't stop its ministrations.

The brown-haired male's lips parted slightly as he released a breath against your hand causing you to snap out of it. The light pink from before blossomed into full redness as you pulled your hand back quickly, eyes wide with shock.

"S-Sorry! I didn't mean to wake you up." You babbled an apology as you attempted to squirm out of Jungkook's hold.

The arm that had since loosened its hold on you tightened once more to prevent you from escaping. Jungkook reached for the hand that was stroking his face earlier on, his fingers wrapping themselves gently around the wrist.

You couldn't tear your eyes away from the intensity of those unwavering eyes as Jungkook brought your hand back to his face, holding it against his cheek. "Don't stop."

Those two words sent a deep shudder through you as your toes curled inwards. Both heads were against one another as you and Jungkook laid on your sides, facing one another.

When he had spoken, the grogginess in his voice caused his tone to be deeper than usual as they breathed against your earlobe. Feeling the heavy weight of his silent demand, you found your hand moving again as they stroke his face.

Jungkook's eyes fluttered shut as he leaned into the touch, a contented sigh leaving his lips. His skin felt coarse and rough against your soft skin, the tiniest of hair growing.

"You need to shave again." You murmured, your voice lifting barely a whisper.

Jungkook hummed in reply, his eyes still closed. Light chuckles escaped your lips, shaking your head at the peaceful look on your best friend's face. The two of you simply basked in the morning glow, the warm bed making it even harder for you to leave.

You wished this moment could last forever – just you and Jungkook, two best friends, nothing more and nothing less.

Noticing the way how Jungkook was going to fall asleep at any given moment, you redraw your hand and lightly patted his cheek. "Don't go falling asleep on me again, Jungkook."

You removed the arm hanging loosely on your waist and pull aside the blanket. You moved into a seating position, your legs dangling off the edge of the bed. Pushing yourself up, you left the comfort of the bed.

Jungkook whinnied at the loss of your warm body against his before rolling onto his stomach. The blanket tangled in his legs as he propped his arms, resting his chin on his palms.

He watched with soft eyes as you puttered around the room, getting ready for the day. There was an edge of familiarity at the sight of you, as though he had seen it many times ever since he knew you.

His nose wrinkled and frowned since he couldn't quite place his fingers on where he had seen it before. It was only when you had entered the bathroom with the door shutting gently behind you and the sound of water accompanied with your singing did the memory surfaced to mind.

The memory of you sleeping over in his dorm room surfaced to the forefront of his mind.

His chest burnt with an indescribable warmth as he got of bed. Glancing once more towards the closed bathroom door, Jungkook made his way downstairs for breakfast.

A smile still presents on his lips as he greeted his family with a cheery "good morning".

The sight before you were something that you were not prepared for. Seeing the bright grin on Jungkook's face as he conversed with his mother who was making breakfast while his father watched his youngest son and wife with a soft smile, the curled edges nearly reaching his eyes.

Eunha and Seokjin were in their own world as they discussed their wedding, their love for each other shining evidently in their eyes as they stared into each other souls.

You felt like an intruder, as though you didn't deserve to be witnessing such a sight let along be a part of it. This was something you knew that only a loved one of this family could truly feel belonged, not a stranger in their home.

Yet, when Jungkook turned his body towards the kitchen entrance where you were standing, his grin became bigger when his eyes landed on you. Your breath hitched at how beautiful he looked at that moment – the sunlight coming through the kitchen window making his locks glowed a rich brown like the fresh soil of the earth, his eyes twinkling with happiness.

Your heart ached with the knowledge that all this was just an act that your best friend had put up to fool his family members. Nonetheless, you pressed on as you entered the kitchen, greeting everyone a good morning.

Taking your place next to Jungkook whose arm immediately took their rightful place at your waist, his thumb stroking your hips. Ignoring the way how your heart jumped at the sensation, you glanced up as Jungkook placed a chaste kiss to your forehead. Musical laughter escaped between his lips when you blushed at his action, swatting his arm playfully.

"Morning (Name)," He breathed out, his eyes not straying from yours.

You leaned in, your ear pressed up to his chest, hearing the steadying thumping of his heart. Drawing comfort from it, you closed your eyes as you hummed, "Morning Jungkook."

You didn't notice the twinkle in his eyes as they looked at the contented smile on your lips, fingers loosely curled into his shirt, his heart beating in tune with yours.

Mrs Jeon threw an excited smile at her husband, gesturing to the sight of their youngest son and his girlfriend curled up against his firm chest. Mr Jeon return a knowing smile of his own, shaking his head before returning to his morning newspaper.

This morning, the kitchen was filled with love – as fresh as a newborn babe or one that had stood against time and trials. One might think it's a love of romance, but love comes in all forms and platonic love, a kind between friends also exists in the Jeon household.

"Alright, you lovebirds break out of it. Breakfast's ready."

You and Jungkook broke out of whatever spell was cast over between you two. While you spluttered with red cheeks, coming up with all sorts of excuses, Jungkook simply took you by the hand and led you to the table where everyone else was seated at.

"You know there's no reason to be so embarrassed being in love with me." Jungkook teased, ruffling your hair.

You swatted his hand away, sulking. "Shut up."

"Oh! You two are so cute!" Eunha squealed, causing you to blush at her words. "Ah, I remember when Jinnie and I used to be like the two of you – so young and so in love."

Seokjin let out a chuckle at the soft sigh leaving his fiancée's lips before giving turning his attention to the two youngest in the household. "Ignore Eunha. She's just jealous that she's no longer as young as she used to be."

Ignoring the hand that hit his chest and the protest by Eunha, he continued. "So, how was your first night here? I bet Jungkook snores like a bear."

"What?! I so do not! Tell him (Name)!" Jungkook protested.

You giggled at the brothers' antics before addressing the older one with a small smile. "Nah, Jungkook's a delight when he's asleep. Besides, if he snores like a bear, I'll have been used to it by now considering the number of times we've sleepovers back at our university."

Eunha and Seokjin glanced at one another, exchanging silent messages that consisted of raised brows and knowing smiles. You looked between them, brows furrowed in confusion. "What? Is there something I'm unaware of?"

Eunha turned to you, a finger to her lips as she winked at you. "It's for us to know and for you to find out."

You let out a sigh, shaking your head. "I can never understand how couples are able to exchange messages without talking."

"It's called years of experience and knowing each other well, both inside and outside," Seokjin replied as he gave Eunha a loving smile.

"Bleh! Too much love!" You pretended to vomit, before dodging Eunha's punch aimed at you while laughing.

The Jeon brothers' eyes met, exchanging knowing grins before shifting their attention back to their respective lovers who were bickering with one another. Breakfast was filled with chatters as everyone ate happily, enjoying each other's company.

You were in the living room on the sofa reading your book when Jungkook stole it from you, causing you to let out a protest as you demanded your best friend to return it. "Jeon Jungkook! I swear to god if you don't return me my book now, I'm gonna shove that very same book up your ass!"

"I'll like to see you try," Jungkook held the book above your head, waving it teasingly. "shortie."

"Oh, now you ask for it." You hissed under your breath as you jumped onto your feet, fooling the brown-haired male into thinking you were going to jump to retrieve the book.

What he did not expect was a punch to his chest. Jungkook gasped at the impact, his body curling in on itself and his fingers loosened their hold on the book.

The book dropped onto the sofa as you bent down to pick it up, giving your friend a triumphant look. "Don't say I didn't warn you."

"You ass." Jungkook wheezed out, glaring at you.

You sat back down and opened the book to where you last read, your eyes not straying from the pages as you asked Jungkook. "So, what do I owe the pleasure of you here besides interrupting my reading time?"

Rolling his eyes, Jungkook replied. "I'm planning to walk around Busan and I thought you may be interested since you never been here. I, being the kind soul that I am, decided to extend the invitation to you, only to be treated unkindly."

You scoffed at his words, snapping the book shut with a thud. Titling your head back to have a better look at the male, you tutted as though scolding a child. "Kind soul my ass. I'll call you a kind soul if you stop stealing my book from me."

With that, you got up from the sofa and made a beeline for the main entrance of the house. Without so much as a glance at Jungkook, you put on your shoes and said. "What are you waiting for – the cows to come home? If not, hurry your ass and put on your shoes."

"Shouldn't I be the one telling you that?" Jungkook protested, but he obeyed your words nonetheless. Grumbling underneath his breath, Jungkook put on his shoes while you waited for him, tapping your foot impatiently against the wooden floors.

Once Jungkook unlocked the door, you rushed out into the open air. Closing your eyes, you took in a lungful of Busan's salty air, a small smile on your face. You were someone who hated being cooped up indoors for a long time, so it was nice to be out and about.

"So, where to first?" You turned to Jungkook, rocking on the balls of your feet.

Jungkook chuckled as he locked the door and pocketed his house keys. Walking up towards you, he ruffled your hair before grabbing your hand. "How does visiting the beach sounds to you?"

You nodded your head eagerly like a bobblehead doll. "Yes!"

Jungkook tightened his hold and intertwined his fingers with yours. You glanced down at both your hands and your cheeks flushed a light pink, the edges of your lips curled up.

You squeezed Jungkook's hand and looked into his brown eyes, seemingly searching for something.

"Everything okay?" Jungkook asked with a quirk of his brow.

You shook your head to reassure him. "Nope, everything's fine."

With that, both of you headed to the beach, hands swinging back and forth between you and him.

Jungkook's house was within walking distance of the beach, so there was no need for driving. Head turning left and right, you took in the liveliness of Busan – its streets bustling with people as they went about their day.

Despite being smaller than Seoul, Busan was also just as busy as the capital city of Korea. It was a lovely day with only a few clouds in sight, drifting lazily in the breeze. The sun was high up in the sky, bathing the earth in its warm rays.

Jungkook watched you with endearment, eyes softening upon seeing the childlike wonderment on your face as you enjoyed the views of the city that he grew up in.

Suddenly, you heard someone calling you and Jungkook's name from across the street.

"(Name)! Jungkook-ah!"

Both of your heads turned in the direction of the voices and saw a familiar pair of faces waving in your direction. With their brightly dyed hairs, they stood out like sore thumbs.

"Hyungs, what are you guys doing here?" Jungkook asked, his tone surprise as Jimin and Taehyung crossed the street and made their way towards the both of you.

"We're on our way to the arcades when Taehyung saw the two of you from across the street," Jimin explained with a smile. "So, we wanted to ask if you guys wanna tag along with us."

You were about to open your mouth and reply when Jungkook beat you to it. "Sorry, (Name) and I am heading for the beach, so we can't join you. How about next time?"

Taehyung's box grin immediately fell from his face and his shoulders drooped. He forced a smile onto his face, but you could tell he was disappointed. "It's alright. I just thought we could spend some time together considering we haven't seen each other since last Christmas and get to know (Name) better at the same time."

You felt guilt coiling around your heart like vines when you saw how eager the silver-haired male had wanted to hang out with his friend, only to be rejected. Honestly, Taehyung reminded you of a kicked puppy who got its toy stolen.

Letting go of Jungkook's hand, you linked arm with Taehyung and gave him the brightest smile. "Jungkook and I'll come along with you and Jimin-oppa to the arcade. We can always go to the beach afterwards!"

Taehyung's face lit up at your words, his eyes sparkling with delight. "Really?!"

You giggled and nodded your head as Taehyung punched a fist into the air, letting out an excited whoop. He really did remind you of a puppy. Together, with linked arms, the two of you walked ahead of Jimin and Jungkook.

Jungkook blinked once, twice before the situation sank in – his friend had just stolen his girlfriend from him!

Immediately, he ran after the cheerful duo, shouting. "Hyung! Come back here with my girlfriend!"

Jimin shook his head and chuckled, before taking off in the direction of the trio.

Look like the trip to the beach had to wait after all.

The arcade was a very dim place with only the colourful lights from the game machines as the guide. It was a lively and noisy place filled with people of all sort of ages – some playing with their friends while others enjoyed the game by themselves.

Jungkook's and Taehyung's eyes were two times their usual sizes as they took in all the different games calling out to them.

Turning to Jimin, you pointed at the duo who were gushing over a game machine that they seemed overly excited about. "Are they always like this?"

"Amongst the seven of us, these two are obsessed with any types of games." The pink-haired mochi chuckled.

Your eyes focused on the two who were already queueing up to exchange coins for tokens so they could play the games.

You shook your head and let out a sigh, mumbling underneath your breath. "This explains so much."

Jimin lifted a brow at your sentence, not understanding. "What do you mean by that?"

You faced Jimin and explained grumbling. "Back at university, Jungkook's always on his laptop, playing video games. One time, he went into a rage and threw his mouse against his door just as I opened it. I nearly got hit in the face by a flying mouse!"

Jimin threw his head back and laughed, the loud noise drowning him out so only you could hear him. "It so typical of him to do that! One time, he nearly threw his computer out of the windows when he was gaming with Tae. He would've done it if Namjoon-hyung had not intervened."

Both of you laughed at the image of a fuming bunny holding his computer over his head, threatening to throw it out of the window while Taehyung laughed in the background, egging the boy on.

"(Name), Jimin! We're about to play a racing game that allows all four players to play! Wanna join us?" Jungkook called out while Taehyung waved his arms around to show where they were at.

Jimin and you exchanged a grin.

Soon, the four of you were competing against each other for first place. You pressed down on your pedal and changed gear, doing a drift as you steered the driving wheel.

You were currently in first place with Jungkook behind you and you were determined to keep it that way. Your eyes lit up when you saw the finishing line within a few meters ahead of your car.

"Come on, I'm almost there." You murmured, pressing down even harder on your pedal.

Just as your car was about to cross the finishing line, Jungkook's car overtook yours and claimed the glory for himself.

"No!" You wailed while Jungkook punched the air, shouting excitedly at his unexpected victory.

"Boohoo! You suck!" Your best friend stuck his tongue out like the child that he was.

You gave your friend the stink eye and crossed your arms, pouting while the brown-haired male continued to tease you.

"And I was so close." You mumbled miserably, still salty at the fact that you were so close to victory.

Jimin whacked Jungkook on the head, causing him to stop his teasing and let out a painful hiss instead. "Stop it or else your girlfriend's gonna leave you for someone else."
