"Please be my girlfriend!"

"WHAT?!" You spluttered, nearly choking on your lunch.

"Be my girlfriend?" Jungkook stood there with a sheepish smile, rubbing his neck.

You simply stared at your best friend with disbelief, unsure of what to make out of the situation.

Silence settled between the both of you as neither one talk, just simply staring at one another. Finally, Jungkook let out a sigh as he took a seat opposite you and held your hands, a pleading look on his face.

"Please be my girlfriend, (Name). I'm begging you." Jungkook gave you puppy eyes, in hope that you would fall for his charms and accept his proposal.

You snapped out of it, removing your hands from Jungkook's hold. The brown-haired boy tilted his head as you stood up suddenly and pointed a finger at him, giving him an incredulous look.

"Yah! Jeon Jungkook! What's the meaning of this? You can't simply just spring that onto a girl! Besides, shouldn't you tell me you like me first before asking me to be your girlfriend?! Wait, no, that's not important. The important question is, do you even like me?!"

You were breathless by the end of your ranting, your chest heaving up and down. Jungkook gave you a blank stare, your patience running thin waiting for the idiot to answer your question.

Butterflies were fluttering in your stomach, your heart racing a mile per hour. Was your dream finally coming true? For a long time, you had been wishing for the day where Jungkook finally returns your unrequited feelings, asking you to be his girlfriend.

Hence why you were taken back when Jungkook suddenly appeared right in front of you, asking to be his girlfriend because you honestly never expected him to feel the same way as you did.

You and Jungkook met a year back ago when you accidentally bumped into him, causing his books to scatter everywhere. Being the awkward girl that you were, you were a blushing mess as you kept apologizing, picking up his books only to make a bigger mess.

Jungkook had simply let out a chuckle and ruffled your hair, telling you it was alright. That was the start of your friendship.

"HAHAHAHA!"

You snapped out of your reminiscing when you heard Jungkook's familiar laugh, brow furrowing confusion.

"What? Why are you laughing? Do you think this is a funny matter? Playing with a girl's feelings like that?"

Jungkook managed to reign in his laughter, his lips curling into a smirk. He leaned in, his breath fanning across your face as you shuddered, your cheeks a light pink.

Squeezing your eyes shut, you tried to calm down your racing heart, internally panicking at the unexpected situation that you were in. 'What's wrong with this guy?! He's usually not like this! Omo, my heart can't take it!'

"Do you like me, (name)?"

(E/C) orbs widened when you heard Jungkook's question, darting left and right, stammering, "W-Who s-says anything about liking you?! You're so annoying that you'll drive your future girlfriend up the wall! And I'm the last person who wants to be in that position!"

"Then why are you getting so work up, hmm?"

Your jaw hung opened as you stared at Jungkook, his head leaning against his propped-up hand, his smirk widening if that was even possible. You plopped down onto your seat, knowing that Jungkook had a point.

"I still don't like you though. Get that through your thick skull." You pouted.

Chuckling, Jungkook got up from his seat and sat next to you, slinging an arm around your shoulder. "I'm just kidding, (name). Don't be like that."

You pushed his arm off and turned away from him. "That still doesn't give you an excuse to play with my feelings like that even if I don't like you."

The brown-haired boy rolled his eyes at your childishness. "Fine, fine you're right as usual. Happy now?"

You could feel the corners of your mouth twitching, threatening to smile. You tried your best to remain upset, but it was futile when Jungkook began tickling you, your laughter echoing throughout the university yard.

"I give! I give!" You screamed, tears pricking in the corners of your eyes from all the laughing.

Jungkook released you and give you a triumphant smirk, his hands on his hips. "So, does this mean you agree to be my girlfriend?"

You rolled your eyes, turning your attention back to your lunch. "Ya know, if you don't like me, why are you asking me to be your girlfriend? If you're that desperate, I'm sure there're plenty of other girls at the university who will love to be your special one."

"But you're not them!" Jungkook whinnied, pushing his bottom lips out. "Besides, can't you do your best friend a favour?"

You paused, your spoon hovering near your mouth. Jungkook grinned from ear to ear when he knew that he had gotten your attention. You were the type of person that could not resist helping others, even more so if they are close to you.

"So, are you gonna help a friend out or not?" Jungkook asked cheekily.

"You still haven't told me why you want me to be your girlfriend so desperately?" You ignored his question.

Your friend let out a sigh and run his fingers through his hair. You gave him a curious look, wondering what had gotten him so stressed. Both of you remained silent – Jungkook sorting out his thoughts while you resumed eating, waiting patiently.

"My brother's getting married soon."

"And?" You raised one brow at the boy, expecting him to go on but he simply gave you a blank look.

Letting out a sight, you went on. "Look, I'm happy that Jin-Oppa is getting married, but I still don't understand how that's got to do with me being your girlfriend? You need to give me more context."

"Why are you so hard to convince?" Jungkook complained. "Can't you just agree without asking so many questions?"

You gave your best friend a deadpan look, questioning why you were friend with him. "I may be your friend, but I won't go that much of a great length to be your girlfriend. This is no joking matter, Jungkook. We're talking about relationships here."

"Stubborn woman," Jungkook mumbled.

"You wanna say that again?"

Jungkook let out a squeak, taken aback by the black waves rolling off you. "I-I'm just kidding!"

"That's what I thought." You gave the boy a sweet grin. "Now, are you gonna tell me why I've to be your girlfriend?"

"Why are we still friends?" Jungkook rolled his eyes, continuing when he noticed the glare that you sent his way. "Fine. Like I mentioned before, Jin-hyung's getting married over the spring break and naturally as his brother, I've to be there which I'm fine with since we're on break."

"So, what's your problem then?" You questioned, not understanding where this was going.

"My problem is, I may or may not have lied about having a girlfriend to my family which both you and I know is not true." Jungkook finished, rubbing the back of his neck showing his embarrassment.

"You lied to your family?" You repeated.

"Pretty much yea."

"Basically, you want me to be your pretend girlfriend during your brother's wedding, so no one will suspect anything?" You questioned.

A huge grin broke out on Jungkook's face as he hooked an arm around your shoulder, ruffling your hair. "You know me so well! I shall take that as a yes then!"

"But- "

"Since our spring break's starting tomorrow, we'll be leaving tomorrow." Jungkook cut off. "Make sure you've your things pack by tonight. I'll drop by your room at 9 am to pick you up. See you tomorrow!"

With that, your best friend left you standing there stunned.

"But I didn't even say yes." You blankly said, but by then Jungkook was too far to have heard you.

What had you gotten yourself into?!

***

"Wait, let me get this straight. Jungkook asks you to be his pretend girlfriend at his brother's wedding and you agreed, am I right to say that?" Park Ji-Eun, your other best friend, asked with blank eyes.

"Well, not exactly." You replied. "More like it was a one-sided agreement?"

Your sentence coming out as more of a question. You gave Ji-Eun an unsure smile as she raised her brows, still not saying anything. Both of you stared at each other, not saying anything.

The ticking sound of your clock filled the otherwise silent room.

Ji-Eun let out a tired sigh, breaking the silence first. You winced, knowing that you were in for it. Bracing yourself, you prepared for another round of Ji-Eun's lectures.

"You call me here to tell me that Jungkook asked you to be his girlfriend for his brother's wedding, only then to tell me that it's a one-sided agreement?" Ji-Eun asked, her tone hinting that she was not in the mood for any nonsense.

"Yes." You gulped.

"You exactly have one minute to explain yourself."

Jumping to your feet, you began to pace around your room, Ji-Eun's eyes following. "Apparently, Jungkook lied to his family saying that he has a girlfriend without thinking of the consequences. Now that his brother's wedding is coming up, his family wants him to introduce this mysterious girlfriend of his."

You took a deep breath before facing Ji-Eun. "And somehow, as usual, I got drag into his shenanigans."

Ji-Eun's face softened, asking the question that you had been asking yourself since Jungkook agreed to his favour on your behalf. "Are you okay with this arrangement?"

"I don't know, Ji-Eun, I really don't know." You honestly replied, collapsing back-first onto your bed.

You let out a tired sigh, covering your eyes with your arms. Even though Jungkook kinda forced you into doing this, you knew that you would still agree nonetheless since it was not in your nature to turn down a friend who needed help.

However, you were afraid. You feared that being in this fake relationship would make you craved for the actual thing and in doing so, you ended up confessing your feelings to Jungkook which was the last thing you wanted.

In other words, you were afraid of rejection.

Ji-Eun took a seat next to you, combing her fingers through your (h/c) locks as her way of comforting you. "(Name), you know you can always say no. You don't always have to help others. There are times where your needs come first, and this is one of those moments."

"You know that it's impossible, Ji-Eun." You let out a lifeless chuckle.

Ji-Eun sighed, knowing that it was pointless to argue with you once you set your mind onto something. The only thing she could do was to give you words of comfort.

"You're sometimes too kind for your good, do you know that?" You smiled, Ji-Eun returning one of her own before her eyes softened once more. "You'll be fine, alright? Trust me."

"I wish I can believe you."
