《The Good Girl Boxer》Chapter 38

It had been four days since the last day of school for the 2018 year and three days since I first started training again.

Yesterday was Christmas and now I'm getting dressed up for Makayla. She still wouldn't tell me what we were doing, but whatever it was 'I had to dress up as sexy as possible' according to Kay.

None of my dresses fit me properly and I didn't want to wear the one Charlotte just got me, so I went out shopping. After three stores and two hours, I found this black bodycon dress that I adored.

Since it's still the middle of winter, I figured my leather jacket would work perfectly with it. I also bought a pair of tights to go under.

"What are we doing Kay. I hate surprises." Makayla stood behind me with a curling iron, curling my long hair into soft waves.

"Yeah, but you'll like this one. I promise you."

"I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for this one." Applying the last bit of makeup I needed I let out a sigh. "If it's something stupid I'm going to slap you."

She let go the last curl and smacked me lightly on the arm. "You wouldn't slap your captain."

I arched my eyebrow.

"Maybe you would." She gulped. "Whatever, get your shoes on. We are running late."

I slipped my over-the-knee boots on to help keep my legs warm.

The thing about being as thin as I was, was I get cold a lot easier.

"Well let's go." I followed her out the door and to her car.

Eighteen songs later, we pulled up to the show house of luxurious houses.

"Where in the hell are we?" I asked stepping out of the car.

"This is my parents second house. It's not used often, but after the split up neither of them wanted the house so I got it." Makayla shrugged her shoulders like it was no big deal.

"Alright. So what are we doing here?" I looked around and stars danced in the sky, illuminating the trees around us.

Nothing seemed to be going on so when I turned to Makayla, the smirk on her face confused me even more.

"Let's just go inside first." She took my arm in hers and led me to the front door of the house. "Right through here."

I put my hand on the door knob and turned, but it waa locked. "Um."

"Oh my bad." She unlocked the door and pushed through. "Welcome to mi segundo casa." Flipping on the lights, I could finally see how beautiful it was.

Marble tile covered the whole floor, the furniture was black leather and a huge chandelier hung from the ceiling. "What are we doing here?" I sighed out.

"Having a party!"

I looked around. "There's no one-"

"Surprise!" Tons of people jumped out from everywhere.

The stairs, behind the couches, coat closet, the kitchen and I think someone fell out of an air vent?

"A surprise party?" I deadpanned. The whole cheer team was here along with the football team, half the basketball team (unfortunately that included Brody Davidson, insert gag here), some students in my classes, and of course my close circle of friends.

"Do you like it?" Makayla was smiling ear to ear, so I put on my best smile.

"I love it! Thanks girl!" I squeezed her tight in a hug.

Going group by group I greeted everyone and thanked them for coming.

"You didn't tell me your birthday was coming up!" Rylan flung herself on my back.

"I don't typically like celebrating it. Plus there was so much going on I just didn't even think about it." I paused for a moment while everything since the beginning of school hit me all at once. "I need a drink. Want one?"

"Yeah! I'll be mingling." She shot me a wink before disappearing in the crowd, no doubt to try to hook up with some guy.

"My head is a mess." I mumbled under my breath.

From somewhere behind me it sounded like my name was called, but when I turned around, it was just a bunch of dancing kids.

Once I was in the kitchen, I grabbed a solo cup and filled it up with beer, downed that, and filled it back up.

On marble island was a group of people doing body shots. Jake happened to be on the outskirts, not participating but watching with interest.

"Jake! Hold this please." I thrusted my cup at him, accidentally sloshing some over the side. I wasn't drunk, not yet, but my head still felt fuzzy. There was so much going on in my life it felt like years ago when I met him.

"Oh Daytona. Um sure? Mind if I ask why though?"

I gestured with my finger to the group of kids doing body shots.

"Alright. But if anyone tries anything-"

"I can handle myself!"

Pushing through the crowd, I saw a guy laying on the island waiting for someone to hop up. "Lemme do it. I need a shot anyways."

The crowd parted like the Red Sea.

"Well you heard the birthday girl!" I had no clue who the voice belonged to, but the lights, music and everyone talking was giving me a splitting headache.

Putting my knee on the counter, I boosted myself up and then straddled the guys legs. His shirt was gone and the salt was right above the waist band of his jeans.

"Let's get this show on the road." I bent down and licked the salt up, took the shit and grabbed the lime out of his mouth.

Everyone cheered around me and I pumped my fist in the air.

Believe it or not, this was the first time I ever did a body shot.

"You could've licked the salt for longer." Nameless boy jumped off the island.

"Don't push your luck." I laid down on the cold marble and turned my head to the side to expose my neck. The salt was placed and I held the lime in my mouth by the rind.

"It's more fun if you close your eyes!" Someone from the crowd shouted.

I shut my eyes tight.

There was movement around me, it sounded like two people shoving another, but one of them eventually walked away.

Suddenly, I was able to feel someone hovering over me. Slowly, the licked the salt off my neck, took the shot, and grabbed the lime out of my mouth, kissing me in the process.

I opened my eyes and freaked out when I saw it was Brody over me.

"Get off me!" I shoved him back, but he didn't budge. All I ended up doing was pushing myself off the island.

I fell backwards and prepared to hit the ground, but I didn't. I had landed in someone's arms.

Icy blue eyes looked down into mine and where his hands held me burnt. "Jordan. You're, uh, here."

"Last time I checked, yeah. I'm here." He set me down with a small smile.

"Your hair. It looks different. Did you cut it?"

"Oh, um yeah. It was getting to long and Marissa was bothering me about it too." He self-consciously ran his hand through his hair. "Does it look bad?"

"No it's looks great. Don't worry about it."

"Thanks. Oh um, happy birthday by the way."

"My birthday is actually in two days, but thanks anyway. Want a drink- shit I forgot to bring Rylan hers." I pushed through the crowd again and found Jake. "Thanks for holding it." I stopped to down about half of it. It tasted a little bit different from before, but it was probably just because I had tequila.

"You're welcome?" Jake gave me a confused look, but shook his head and walked away.

When I reached for the cups, my clumsy self knocked half of them over.

"Oh my gods." I mumbled under my breath, picking them back up.

"Need any help." Jordan had followed me through groups of people and handed me a few cups that had fallen on the ground.

"Yes, thank you. I'm such a mess." I stacked the cups back up into the pile they previously were in.

"No problem. Uh, about the other night,"

"Its all good Jordan. Okay? I forgive you."

Another small smile found it's way to his face. "Really? Thanks Daytona. I really mean it." He banded me the last cup and disappeared further into the house.

"Ah." A sharp pain shot through my head and I grabbed it with both hands, stumbling around. It cleared up within seconds, but my vision almost seemed to be blurred. I blinked several times, but it didn't clear up. All the tension in my body disappeared and I was energetic, but also super tired. It made me feel really loopy.

I must be really out of it or I'm a super light weight drinker, even more than before.

The living room was filled with people dancing, so I danced along with them trying to cut across and find someone I know.

Someone tapped me on my shoulder and I turned around. "Hey Drew! Wassup?!"

"Daytona? You okay?"

"Awe look at that. Captain of the swim team is worried about me. I'm fineee, just enjoying the party." I danced right past him and into the yard where they were playing beer pong. "I'm a champion at this game!"

Mason and Jake were just getting ready to go against Jordan who didn't have a partner.

"I'll be your partner J!" I ran into the corner of the table. "Ow. Stupid effing table."

Jordan looked at Mason who looked at me. Jake kept his eyes on the table. "Daytona. Are you alright? You seem, more energetic."

"And I just saw you five minutes ago and you were acting completely different." Jordan added, steadying me with his hands around my waist.

"I'm just enjoying the party, that's all. After all, it is my party, isn't it. I can have fun if I want to." I picked up the ping-pong ball, aimed it at the back middle cup and sinked it. "Woohoo! Drink up boys."

In the end, Jordan and I won. No thanks to to me though. The first shot was the only one I made, and by the rules that we were playing, whoever made the last shot didn't have to drink what was in the cup.

So yeah.

I'm drunk.

Again.

"You cho purtty Jordan." I sat on one of the empty couches, stroking Jordan's face. "I sleep."

"You sleep?" He asked me, cocking an eyebrow up in inquiry.

"I sleep here." I flopped over and laid my legs on Jordan's lap.

His body shook with a small chuckle, "You can't sleep here. It's your party."

"Uh shush, I can sleep if I want to. 'It's my party and I'll sleep if I want to, sleep if I want to, sleep, sleep, sleep. I'll sleep til my pity partys in flames.'" I yawned and closed my eyes.

"Those aren't the words you know."

"Shush! I sleep now. Night night." I quickly started to fall asleep. How I fell asleep with all this around me, I don't know, but I did.

"Daytona, wakeup. They're getting ready to cut the cake and sing you happy birthday." I'm assuming it was Jordan who whispered in my ear, because when I shot up, he was sitting inches from my face with a goofy grin.

"Cake?" I asked. Still tired, still drunk.

"Yeah come on." He grabbed my hand and pulled me up, but when I stood, I stumbled and almost crumpled to the ground. "Okay here we go. Put your arm around my shoulders." I did as he said and together we stumbled into the kitchen.

"I've got her everyone!" Around the island where I was doing body shots awhile ago, stood almost everyone who was invited and they all stood around a tower of cupcakes. Or, at least it looked like it was made of cupcakes, my vision still wasn't back to normal.

"Cupcakes?" I asked Jordan.

"Yeah, cupcakes. That's what you like. Right?"

I nodded my head and tears filled my eyes for some reason. They were tears of happiness though, and that confused me even more.

"Thank you!" You hugged him with all I had and stumbled into the island. "Thank you all for coming here today, it means so much to me."

Everyone awkwardly looked back and forth. Makayla approached me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "How much have you had to drink tonight?" She whispered to me.

"Two beers." I held up six fingers.

Jordan placed a hand around me. "Okay. We're cutting you off. There is no way you could've gotten this drunk, unless someone-" he trailed off as if having a revelation. "I'll be right back." He let go of my arm and left the kitchen.

"Well, let's dig in!" I grabbed a cupcake and stumbled out of the kitchen after Jordan.

"Jordy! Where are you!?" I couldn't see where he went so I headed to the left and walked through the first door I saw.

It led down to what I assumed was a basement, or maybe even a lower level story.

"Jordy?" I asked. I didn't here anything but continued down anyway. "Jordy are you down here?"

It was pitch black down there and when I got to the bottom I felt around for a light switch. I couldn't find one, but I didn't need to. Someone beat me to it.

"Hello Daytona. It's nice to finally meet you in person, again."

My heart beat sped up and then stopped.

Was it just my vision messing with me? Or was Sophia Derry really standing four feet infront of me?

Dun, dun, dun!

I know you guys already knew it was her, but now Daytona knows too!!!

Okay I REALLY need you guys to answer this question: Hypothetically, if Day didn't end up with Logan, who would be your second best option? Jordan? He's probably mine.

The book is coming to a close, but not to fear, there will be a second one! (And a third one 😉)

So we didn't make the Fiction Awards list, but it's okay! There's always next year. Still holding out for the Wattys though.

I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! If you did, please vote and comment!!!

Love you all!
