《The Good Girl Boxer》Chapter 32

I had been pounding on his door for five minutes now, the rain beating down on me relentlessly. Thunder cracked with another flash of lighting and I shivered. My finger tips were numb now because of the cold air and water, I couldn't feel my nose either. "Logan I know you're in there! Please just open up. I'm not leaving."
I heard footsteps running down the stairs then the door was thrown open by Logan. "What Daytona?"
"Look. I'm sorry for what I did to you. I hate the way I was back then. That's why when we met I was this G.G. who let people walk all over her because I was scared Logan. I was scared of being that girl again.
"But you've got to believe me when I say I've changed. I would never hurt you. Now please, don't make me leave." His face was completely emotionless, then he hung his head and sighed.
"Come inside. You're going to get sick." I ducked under his arm and walked inside, glad to have some safety for a bit.
"Does this mean you forgive me?" I asked with a small smile.
"Not yet."
I frowned. "Okay. I understand. I put you through something traumatizing and now you hate me. But please, please, please, believe me when I say I'm so sorry Logan."
"Daytona. Do you know why I know how to fight?" I shook my head no. "It's not because I'm undefeated at some underground boxing club– those were just rumors. I took self defense classes because I was ready to stand up to those douches, but then my parents transferred me instead."
"Logan," I reached out to touch his arm again and this time he didn't shrink away, "I am so sorry. I hated the girl I used to be so much one night I purposely threw a fight letting someone else beat me to a pulp, then I drowned myself in alcohol. That same night was the night my brother crashed." No matter how much I wanted to cry because I was so angry at myself, I couldn't. I wasn't the victim in this situation. I never was, and finally, thanks to Logan, I see that now.
"You never told me it was because of what you did. You said it was because you couldn't take loosing." He placed his hand on top of mine which had started to tremble.
"Another lie I guess." I stared at the ground, which now had drops of water all over it from my hair. "You know, all the hurt everyone around us faces, is partially because of me. I cause so much hurt and destruction wherever I go."
Then, Logan did something unexpected.
He pulled me into him and kissed me. It was just a small kiss. So small even, that when he pulled away, I hadn't yet kissed him back; then he pulled me in again and latched onto my lips with his. I had to stand on my tip-toes so he wasn't bent over so much, but I kissed him back with all I had.
The mood of the kiss wasn't quite readable, angst, anger, sadness? It was all a jumble I couldn't get a grasp on.
I wrapped my arms around Logan's neck and deepened the kiss, pulling me into him more. His fingers ran through my knotted, wet hair, holding me against him.
His tongue flicked across my bottom lip, and that was all the warning I had before he bit on it, causing a moan to escape me. But unlike those cliche romance novels, he didn't do anything. He just gripped my waist and backed me against the wall. "Not everyone's hurt is because of you Day. I'm sorry I reacted the way I did. It was uncalled for. Forgive me?"

I didn't say anything, I just kissed him again. And again. And again.
I was a hot mess of emotions when he finally pulled away for real. Not because he wanted to though. Tanner had walked down stairs, announced his disgust that we were doing the 'dirty' in the living room, and suggested we get a room.
We laughed him off.
Logan grabbed me a towel and a change of clothes so I could dry myself off from the rain.
Our argument had seemed like eons ago when I walked back downstairs to see Logan sprawled out across the couch watching Netflix.
I sat down next to him, "So." I had no clue what to say.
"So."
"Okay. I'm going to address the elephant in the room." I adjusted myself and turned my whole body to face him. "What are we? Are we friends? Fwb's? What are we Logan?"
For a minute he didn't answer, just started at me. Then a small smile crept up on to his lips, "Well we aren't friends with benefits, but we can if you want to."
I rolled my eyes but smiled a little too. "I'm serious Logan."
He gave me a look of utter disbelief, "So am I. I will gladly be your friend with benefits Daytona." He gave me a goofy smile. "But honestly. What do you want to be?"
What did I want us to be?
I raised my eyebrow at him, "What do you think?"
"Friends with benefits it is." I slapped his arm. "Just kidding, just kidding. Daytona Pierce Lyn, will you do me the wonderful honors of being my girlfriend."
I batted my eyelashes and held both hands over my heart, "Yes!" Then we both fell over in a fit of laughter.
He grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together. "What about Makayla?" I asked.
"What about her?" He asked with a cocky grin on his face.
"You know how you're supposed to be fake dating her. Well how are you going to date me and her at the same time?" I saw his eyes go cloudy.
"I didn't think about that." He dragged his hand down his hands down his face and groaned, then he turned to me, "I'll think of something. I promise you Daytona."
I smiled at him, "Okay."
~~~~🌸~~~~
Monday rolled around finally and I was heading back to school.
I threw on a long sleeve gray shirt, a black skirt, and my over-the-knee black boots and called my outfit good. Then I straightened my hair and put on makeup so I didn't look as dead and scared as I felt. Before I walked downstairs I did a once-over in the mirror to make sure I looked okay, then with a deep breath I headed out the door.
I wanted to take my bike, but I felt safer in my car. It was still raining outside, but not as hard as it was on Saturday, and with the track records of accidents in this type of weather, I stuck with the car.
Plus I spent to much time straightening my hair to have it messed up by the helmet, wind, and rain.
When I pulled into school, I was greeted by the usual looks of envy. Trust me, you don't want to be in my position.
I met Mason and Jake by the stairs in the front of the school, "What's up you two?" I noticed they were holding hands and I was smiling so big I thought my cheeks were going to split.
"Woah. Tone down the smile, you look like a psyco." Mason dragged the corners of my mouth down with his hand.
Chills crept up my spine standing outside. Everytime a car drove by, I thought it was Colton. So the three of us went inside so I felt less exposed. "Are you sure you want to be back at school Daytona? I mean what you went through was horrible. I can't even imagine how you must feel being back so soon."
"Trust me Mason. I've been gone long enough." I spun the lock for my regular locker and grabbed the books I needed out of it and put my charger into it.
"I'm just saying Daytona. If you need me, you know where to find me." The shrill bell rang overhead giving us seven minutes to get to class.
"Thanks Mas. Now go get to class, I'll be fine." I slammed my locker and headed to Physics.
I was not fine.
By the time lunch rolled around, all my nerves we're jumbled together in one gigantic knot. I anxiously was waiting for Charlotte to meet my by the double doors of the cafeteria so she could convince me everything was okay.
And just like that, she was there. "Hey Daytona. You okay? You look a little freaked out."
"I am Char. I'm freaking out. He's in my head. I keep feeling like he's here." I wrapped my arms around my to keep my shaking to a minimum. "Mason was right I should've just stayed at home."
"Hey. Calm down girl. Everything will be okay. You have Mason, Jake, Logan, and I all here with you. Nothing is going to happen. Now let's gets some food in your tiny stomach before you float away doing flips in cheer." She wrapped her arms around me and guided me to the lunch line.
"Thanks Char. You always know what to say." I had stopped shaking and could feel my nerves settling.
"No problem. Just as long as you know I'm the greatest friend ever." She gave me one of her signature grins that she only uses to cheer people up.
"Of course. We haven't hung out much lately. Let's hang out Wednesday after practice. Makayla let's us out early Wednesdays so I'll be done by five." I grabbed a salad and a water and payed for it.
"Cool. I have to meet Ben to get something from him right after school, so I'll be back by the time you're done." She grabbed a slice of pizza and slapped it down on the flimsy styrofoam plate.
"Ben? The jock? The one who looks like he could give the hulk a run for his money?" We headed outside to the courtyard to eat. This time of year, not a lot of people really sat outside to eat, so I do. It's sunny and quiet and I don't have to worry about people really bothering me.
"No not him. The one we met at the race awhile ago." She followed me out as we took our seat across from eachother at the wooden table right in the sunniest part of the yard. The cool wind whipped around us and dark storm clouds we're scattered across the sky, but for this one moment, the sun broke through and shinned down, warming the air around us.
"The sleeze ball? What does he have of yours?" I took a bite of my salad and wiped my mouth with the back of my hand.
"Oh, nothing. He just owes me some money is all." She shrugged her shoulders and picked up her pizza.
"Where are the boys?" She asked, and right on cue, they walked out to join us.
"Sorry we're late ladies. The line for nachos was really long." Jake say opposite of Charlotte and Mason sat next to him while Logan took a seat next to me.
"I can't understand how you eat anything at this school other than salad? The pizza is literally cardboard with red paint and the nachos and grease with a side of stale chips." I shook my head and took another bite of my salad.
"Salad is just rabbit food." Logan said next to me as he picked up and grease and cheese covered chip and took a bite out of it.
"Excuse you?" I tipped my eyebrow up at him and picked up my fork in a very threatening way. "I'll have you know that salad is not rabbit food. There is a big difference between lettuce and grass you moron."
Logan grabbed the fork out of my hand and took a bite of my salad. "Nope. Tastes the same to me."
I smacked his arm and took my fork back sending him glares everytime he looked at me.
"Any plans for this week guys?" Jake asked eating some of his disgusting nachos too.
"Char and I are hanging out Wednesday." I offered up.
"Cool what are we doing?"
"Not we. Just Char and I." Charlotte and I high fived and I stuck my tongue out at Jake who was now currently pouting.
"Are you guys going gossip about hot boys and do makeovers?" Mason squealed in a high pitched voice.
"No. We're probably going to try on laungerie and go clubbing." Charlotte and I laughed as we watched the boys squirm and Logan's face turn bright red.
We were going to do one of those things for sure on Wednesday. It's what we always did when we hung out.
Clubbing, not trying in laungerie.
The laungerie part was a joke between us. When guys asked about girls sleepovers, that's what we always tell them. It's flusters them, and it's priceless.
After the guys finished clearing their throats they turned to both Charlotte and I. "So do you guys really try on laungerie?" Jake asked.
"Oh yeah. It's all black lace too. Very scandulous." She winked at me and I busted out laughing.
"Oh my goodness. You should see your guys faces." I wiped tears from my eyes. Logan rolled his eyes and playfully shoved me.
"It's not our fault the thought of you guys in laungerie gets us hot and bothered." He grumbled.
"You're right. It's not your fault you can't keep it in your pants." I pushed him back.
He turned to my with a smirk and whispered in my ear, "You know I'm going to have that picture in my mind all day. You should do something to help with that."
I gave him a pointed look and hoped my blush wasn't to obvious.
We finished our lunch just joking around and when the bell rang, no one made a move to get up, making an unspoken agreement to just skip our next period, and the next, and the next.
But in the end, I still had to go to cheer practice.
What's up guys!
Here's the latest chapter.
