《The Good Girl Boxer》Chapter 31

"Water is not wet!" I argued over to the other end of the table.

Once again, we were a group divided. Jake, Mason, Tanner and Jordan all believed that water is wet while Logan, Marissa, Tyler and I did not.

"Water is literally wet. Do you get wet when you come out of the water?" Mason tried to argue back with me, but I had a valid point to prove.

"Yes you get wet when you come out of the water, but only because being wet is a sensation. Are you wet underwater?" Beside me Tyler was covering his laugh with a cough. I gave him a side glance that read, Way to be mature.

Logan placed a hand on my leg and leaned in to my ear, "If you want to get wet underwater, you could've just asked me and I would take you to the pool."

My face turned bright red and I choked on my food. "Logan!" I whisper shouted, "You can't say stuff like that in public!"

"Oh right sorry. But saying it in private is okay right? Because I would be saying a lot more than just that." He had a cheesy grin on his face the whole time and shot me a wink. I rolled my eyes and smacked his leg.

"Would you two stop flirting, we are trying to have a very logical argument here." Tanner yelled at his brother from across our table.

"All I'm saying is water isn't wet. Water can make you wet, but it itself isn't wet." I scooped up some of my fried rice with my chopsticks and shoveled it into my mouth.

"Water isn't the only thing that can make you wet." Logan said next to me, loud enough for everyone at our table to hear.

"Logan Adam Wylde!" I scolded whole everyone else laughed at my tomato of a face. I was so embarrassed that my palms started to sweat.

"You know I'm just joking around with you Day." I shot Logan a glare and he just laughed me off, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. "It's good to have you back Day."

I leaned my head onto his shoulder and replayed what he had said earlier,

I love you.

I had been thinking about those three simple words the entire time we were eating.

Did he mean as a best friend loves a best friend? I mean we didn't act like just friends, but we weren't exactly dating either.

What happened with him two weeks ago still had me confused too. What did Logan mean when he said I couldn't loose you too? Who had he lost before? And why didn't he seem shocked to see Cooper alive? It was almost like he already knew Cooper was alive. But if he did, he wouldn't keep that a secret from me right?

I sighed and noticed everyone was already standing up and getting ready to leave. "Hey you okay?" Logan's arm was still wrapped tightly around me as if he loosened his hold, he would loose me forever. "You were staring off into space for a minute."

"Oh. Yeah. I was just thinking about something. Can we go to your house? I have some questions I need to ask you." We headed out into the chilly air and the wind crept under my shirt, coldly sliding across my skin like an ice cube.

"Are you cold?" He asked. "Here have this." He took off his leather jacket and draped it across my shoulders.

"Thanks." I smiled up at him and climbed into his car. I plugged my phone into the aux cord and hit shuffle on one of my Spotify playlists. 'Losin' Control' by Russ came on and I started to sing along.

"She's falling in love now, losing control now,

Fighting the truth, trying to hide

But I think it's alright, girl

Yeah, I think it's alright, girl, ooh

She's falling in love now, losing control now,

Fighting the truth, trying to hide

But I think it's alright, girl

Yeah, I think it's alright, girl, ooh.

She's falling but she doesn't think he'll catch her

'Cause her last relationship was a disaster

Accusations everyday, she didn't know why

All her calls would be ignored, he's on his own time

Should've ended it before it started

All she ever felt was broken hearted

He was cheating on her, trying to flip it back

On her like a victim

Now she all alone and starting over

Now she got baggage on her shoulder

But the new guy really loves her

She loves him, but she doesn't trust herself anymore."

For some reason, singing this song reminded me of my last relationship that ended pretty badly, but looking to my left at Logan concentrating on the road ahead of him, his green eyes narrowing in on the lanes he was about to switch to, the muscles in his forearm flexing as he flipped the blinker, reminded me that everything was going to be okay now.

I smiled to myself and looked out the window at the passing houses wondering what was going on inside.

Maybe a family was watching a movie, or maybe in one house, a daughter was hiding from her abusive dad, or maybe one family was mourning the loss of their son. Just like my family once did.

"What're you thinking about?" I turned my head to see Logan watching me intently.

"Just about what goes on behind closed doors." I gave him a sad smile and he continued to watch me until he had to turn his eyes back to the road.

We pulled into his driveway minutes later and I opened the door tripping as I climbed out. I fell to the ground and scraped my hand against the concrete. It stung a little and was pink.

The door slammed shut and Logan ran to my side. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" He asked.

I looked up at him with a sly smile, "I guess you can say I fell for you." I started laughing and he just shook his head with an amused look and offered me his hand.

"You're a dork." I accepted his hand and disregarded his statement.

When we got inside, I sat on the couch and wrapped a plaid blanket around me. "So you wanted to talk?" Logan handed me a cup of hot chocolate and sat down next to me.

"Uh yeah. I just have a few questions." He gave me a nod to go on. "Okay for starters, around the time we first met, when Tyler hit me, you called him a juvie. Why?"

"Well because he used to be one. He got sent to JD for fighting so when he hit you I just, got protective of you." He looked at his feet and I blushed a little, looking away.

"Okay next question: Two weeks ago, when you saved me from... Yeah, um you said you couldn't loose me too."

Logan clenched his eyes shut and spoke in a low voice, "Eight months ago, my mom and dad died in a car accident."

I sucked in a breath and placed a hand on his arm. "I'm so sorry Logan. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

He grabbed my hand and squeezed it, "No. I haven't talked to anyone about it yet." He exhaled deeply before continuing, "It was a car accident. They were coming home from work one night. It was raining, the roads were slippery and some drunk guy came barreling through a fucking red light and hit them head on. They died instantly." A tear slipped slowly down his cheek. He rubbed it off with the back of his free hand.

"I'm sorry Logan."

He just nodded his head.

"So. What other questions do you have for me?" He asked, returning to his usual self.

"Oh um. When my brother stepped out of the car, you didn't seem surprised to see him alive. In fact when I asked, you said I'd be happy." I saw him stiffen up. "Did you know he was alive Logan?"

Once again, Logan closed his eyes. "I did know."

"How long." My voice was sharp and hard.

He didn't answer.

"How long have you know Logan."

"Since before I met you." I let go of his hand and jumped off the couch.

"You've known since before we even met! How could you do this to me Logan? I poured my heart out to you about how my father blames me for his death, and the whole time you knew he was alive? What the hell Logan. You've been keeping secrets from you while I've been openly honest with you!" I could feel the rage bubbling up inside me.

He shot up off the couch too, "Okay. Sure, you've been so openly honest with me haven't you. Like how you didn't tell me you knew Cooper was alive either. Or how about this. Why is Colton targeting you Daytona? Hm?"

I didn't answer his question because he was right. I had been keeping secrets from him as well.

"That's what I thought." He said and sat back down on the couch.

I yelled out in frustration at the same time a loud clap of thunder boomed in the sky. Caught off guard, I realized for the first time it had been raining the whole time we were talking.

"Look Logan. I've lied a lot. So if I tell you everything. You have to promise to tell me how you know Cooper." I saw pain flash in his eyes before he nodded his head in agreement. I sat back on the couch, wrapping my body back up in the blanket. "In middle school I was a terror. I was Queen of the school and everyone feared me.

"I used to bully kids all the time. The reason Colton is after me is because I told his little sister to commit suicide and she attempted to." I couldn't look Logan in the eyes. The disgust I pictured on his face was enough to keep my head down.

"Anyways, that wasn't the only thing I've done. I used to run with Riverbend's 'elite' group. We tormented kids on both sides. One time, in Freshman year, we bullied a poor kid he even switched schools."

"Wait. What?" Logan leaned forward, tilted my head up and looked me in the eyes.

"I said in Freshman year, we bullied a kid so bad he switched schools." I twiddled with my fingers and looked away from Logan. I couldn't take the intensity of his green eyes shooting into me.

"That was you?" Logan whispered. "You were the girl." His eyes went wide and he pulled back from me. "It was you." He stood up and paced the floor behind the couch, running his hands through his hair.

"Logan, talk to me. What do you mean I was the girl?" I stood up and reached out to him but he shrank back as if my touch physically hurt him.

"I was that kid Daytona. I switched schools because your group beat me up so much I couldn't take it. Why do you think I was so furious when Jared was with you at my party. It's because I was on the receiving end of his fist once and I couldn't sit back and watch someone else endure what I did." He let out a laugh of disbelief.

"Logan?" My voice caught as I watched the muscle in his jaw jump just like I had seen so many times before.

"I don't want to see you again Daytona." His voice was cold and cut me to the bone.

"Listen to me Logan." All different emotions swirled inside me. "I've changed Logan. You have to believe me."

He spun around and faced me, his eyes so dark they were almost black, "Have you though Daytona. Have you really?"

He marched past me up the stairs and slammed his bedroom door. Tears filled my eyes and I ran outside into the pouring rain, not looking where I was going, just trying to get away from the hurt I felt.

I had stopped running awhile ago and was now walking along the sidewalk. It was weird. Everytime Logan and I move further into our relationship, something always tears us apart. Maybe the best thing for both of us was to stay away from each other.

Yeah right.

I loved Logan with every fiber of my being whether I admitted it to him or not. I couldn't live without him. He made me want to be strong. He made me want to fight. And I couldn't give that up because of a few little mistakes I had made in my past.

Gathering up my courage, I turned on my heel and ran back to his house.

Hey guys! So this was just a quick update covering the the whole Logan knows Cooper thing.

I hoped you guys liked it even though it wasn't much.

Love you all! 😘❤️
