《Fixing the Broken》27//hickeys

We arrive at school and when I say all eyes were on us. I mean every. single. person. in. school. was. staring. at. Noah's. neck.

Including some teachers. We just walked in ignoring them. My first two periods were math and world history. Both were uneventful considering I have neither class with any of my friends besides Kena. They're all in Lunch and English with me though so that'll be eventful.

Another update: Jake got a girlfriend. He hasn't really told us who but he's introducing us to her at lunch so.

I hear the bell ring signaling that it's lunch so me and Kena walk out of World History.

"I'm just going to assume you're the one that left three hickeys on Noah's neck because that boy hasn't been as grouchy as usual today and we all know he's in love with you." She says out of the blue. "And he was with all of us last night and me and Mads didn't give it to him." I laugh and just slightly nod.

"Yeah, that might've been me."

"Girl he let you leave THREE hickeys on him?" She exclaims.

"Oh hun, there's more than three."

"Oh my god. You're crazy. You fucking tamed the beast. How? How did you do it?" She asks and I laugh, throwing my head back. I don't notice the person that I walk straight into.

"Oh my gosh- I'm so sorry." I say helping her pick up her things.

"No, no it's my fault." She says quickly.

She looks like she's headed to the cafeteria.

"Do you want to sit with us at lunch?" I ask because she looks kind of nervous. "There's room right Kena?"

"Yeah absolutely! Plus it'll make up for clumsy over here." Kena says jabbing me in the ribs with her elbow sarcastically.

"Oh, I'm supposed to meet my boyfriend and his friends at lunch."

"Oh. Well at least walk with us..." I start.

"Rachel." She finishes

"Right, at least walk with us. I'm Carter and this is Kena." I say with a smile.

"Yeah, I know who you are. Everyone knows who you are."

"Who's your boyfriend?" Kena asks.

"Um, his name is Jake."

My eyes widen.

"Jake like-" Kena says.

"Jake King?" I add.

"Yeah you guys know him?" She asks quietly.

"Well yeah! Congrats girl, you just met two of Jake's friends!" I say.

"I haven't seen you around before... are you new?"

"I moved here last year, and I never really made a lot of friends. Me and Jake had a project together in World History and we became friends at the beginning of the school year. He asked me out a week ago."

"A WEEK?" Kena says.

"HE TOLD US YESTERDAY."

"I CALL FIRST PUNCH!" Kena screams.

Rachel just laughs.

"You guys are fun." She says.

"I like you." I say. "She knows how to speak sarcasm."

"Welcome to the group little duck." Kena says.

We all laugh and walk into the cafeteria.

Jake walks over to us.

"I see you guys have met Rachel." He says and Kena punches him on the shoulder.

"You asked her out a week ago and you didn't tell us til yesterday." I say. "You're lucky I like her otherwise I would hurt you."

Rachel laughs at me and Kena and walks over to Jake who looks like he's about to piss himself.

"Damn are you ashamed of me?" She asks him pouting this time his eyes go wide.

"Of you? Absolutely not. Of the assholes I call friends. Yeah a little." This time I punch him in the shoulder. She laughs. I like her. She can take a joke.

"Asshole," Kena mumbles. I laugh and Rachel joins me while Jake rubs his shoulder.

"Come on!" I say and drag Rachel away from Jake and towards our table.

"Hey guys this is Rachel, Jake's girlfriend." I announce with Jake following behind her like a lost puppy.

They all kind of stare at her before Mads squeals, runs up to her, and hugs her.

"Hey I'm Maddie, but everyone calls me Mads," She says and Rachel laughs.

"Hey!" She replies. Everyone introduces themselves besides Noah who's sitting there eating.

I kick his shin.

"Ow."

"Introduce yourself asshole."

"I'm Noah." He says gruffly nodding at her.

"Sorry. He's socially awkward." I explain to her which makes her laugh and Noah grabs me and pulls me into his lap. He shoves his face into my neck and bits my shoulder.

"Am not."

"He also has the personality of a six year old." I explain again. He huffs into my neck and the whole table laughs. I get off him and sit next to him.

We eat and chat for a while before the questioning glances I keep getting from Kena and Mads annoy me to the point where I stand up.

"Me, Mads, and Kena all have to go work on the project in yearbook." Rachel looks sad. "Rach, come with we can fill you in on stuff." I add quickly.

All the girls stand up quickly and leave the cafeteria. As soon as we're out Kena and Mads start asking me questions.

"Okay what's up with Noah?"

"Are you guys dating?"

"Why does he have three hickeys on his neck."

"Okay what am I missing?" Rach asks.

I lead them all into an empty classroom.

"Okay." I sigh. "Basically me and Noah.. um.. did some stuff when we were getting popcorn last night. And I gave him a bunch of hickeys without realizing it-,"

"Hence, why you said that he has a lot more than three before you literally ran into Rachel." Kena adds.

"Yeah, so basically this morning. He woke me up by kissing me then we were in the bathroom and I was covering my own hickeys that would show and I asked him if he wanted me to cover his. He said no, then he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said he had to ask me romantically. So he asked me out on a date for tonight. Basically we're going to dinner then stargazing." I say. "Oh and because I'm staying at his house, he's picking me up from Mads so I can get ready."

They all squeal.

"You guys already look like you are dating." Rachel says. "I seriously thought you guys were dating already."

"Nope. We've made out a couple times and stuff and at the dinner he confessed his feelings for me when we went outside."

"Ohhh- So THATS what you guys were doing outside for so long." Mads concludes. I nod.

"Well in that case, are you supposed to dress cute or casual?" Kena asks.

"Casual and warm."

"Oh my gosh we should all help you get ready!" Rach says.

"Yes!" Mads exclaims.

"Okay but Rach you'll have to stay after school because there's lacrosse practice we have to go to today." I say.

"Fine with me. I'll just text my mom."

The bell rings and we all head to English.

Noah sits down in the chair next to me.

"How was working on the project?" He asks

"Good. Good." I say looking down at my paper.

"Good." He replies. I can still feel him staring at me but I'm trying to figure out what the hell is supposed to be on the test right now.

After we take the test and leave I'm putting my stuff away in my locker when I feel a presence behind me.

"Carter!" A high pitched annoying voice rings out behind me. I roll my eyes.

"Michelle!" I say in a sarcastic mocking voice.

"I just wanted to let you know that, I think we both understand that Noah's mine now?"

"Why do you say that?"

"Who do you think gave him the hickeys, silly," She exclaims with a giggle.

"Oh- you- oh my god that's so funny." I start laughing so hard because this girl really is desperate. I kinda feel bad for her.

"Why are you laughing?" She says, her voice frustrated.

"Girl you're crazy." I say still laughing but not as hard.

"What are you talking about?"

"You think you can just come over here and claim to have given Noah a bunch of hickeys to get me away from him?" I ask.

"I didn't claim to, I did."

"That's funny. Because it was my name he was saying when I was giving him those hickeys. But whatever you say girlie." I wink at her and push past her.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

I get over to the fields and I loose it again explaining to the girls what happened. And by the end of it we're all dying and the guys are looking at us like we're crazy. Ollie, Noah, Seth, and Dylan come over and we all re-explain the situation and now coach looks like he's concerned for our health. Probably because we all look like dying hyenas. Besides Noah who's standing there looking conflicted. He's laughing but he also looks kind of mad.

"Hey, It's fine. It's not true. I don't care." I whisper to him.

"It still pisses me off that she think she has some sort of claim over us."

"It's whatever. She doesn't and that's all that matter."

He looks me in the eye. The anger that was built up in his eyes softening. He nods his head slightly.

"Boys get down here!" Coach yells.

The boys run down and us girls work on our projects then head to Mads house to get ready.
