We carry on walking and Benny walks me home.
"So what's the deal with you and Wendy." I ask
"Well a little while ago me and her dated." He says.
My heart sinks a little. I'm not too sure why.
"Oh. How long did you date for?"
"Around 6 months, maybe a little longer."
"Oh."
I stay silent for a while.
"Well this is my house. I'll see you tomorrow" I say to him.
"Bye y/n."
I walk into my room and lay down on my bed. For some reason that really bothered me. Do I like Benny Rodriguez? We're just friends,right? He doesn't like me like that anyway. I go to sleep with that question stuck in my head

I wake up to a banging on my window. It's Benny.
"Get dressed, we're gonna be late." He says to me.
I get changed and leave my house. We run to the sandlot. Everyone has already started playing. Benny and I join in. We all play for a while. I haven't batted for that much so Benny offered the bat to me. I was about to bat but a group of boys on bikes appear and make their way over to us. All the boys walk over.
"Stay behind me y/n." Says Benny as I hand him the bat.
"Who are they?" I ask.
"You'll see" says kenny.
All the boys have the same jackets and hats on. It's clear they all play on the same baseball team
"I heard you guys have a girl on your team?" Says the boy in the middle.
He looks familiar but I can't tell from the distance between us.
"Yeah, so what?" Says Benny.
"Girls can't play." The same boy says.

"Girls can play!" I say moving past Benny.
That's when I realise. I do know him.
"Y/n!?" He says
"Jordan?!" I say in shock.
"You know Philips?" Asks ham.
"Yeah, our moms are best friends so I used to hang out with him." I say to them.
"What are you doing with them?" Philips asks me.
"Playing baseball" I answer
"I thought you quit after what happened."
"Well I decided to play again."
"Why didn't you come play with me?"
"I thought you said that girls can't play baseball." Says ham.
"Yeah but y/n is an exception. She's the best." Says Philips.
"Thank you Jordan" I say.
I can see Benny looking annoyed in the corner of my eye.
"I'm sorry Jordan but I'm already playing on this team." I say to him
"Well if you ever feel like playing just like when we were younger, feel free to come to my pitch." Says Philips before biking off.
