"I love......... Bokuto" you said letting the name roll off your tongue.
"Nope try again" Tanaka said closing your eyes again.
"Pst stop it" you said swatting his hand away. "What's wrong with Bokuto?" you asked confused.
"I mean nothing really but I just don't get it" Tanaka said slightly annoyed.
"I feel like anyone other than Daichi you wont understand" you said laughing and shaking your head.
"We warned you" Noya said shrugging.
"I guess that's fair but can you maybe put that aside for now and help me figure out how to tell him?" you asked.
"Do I have to?" Tanaka asked pretending to be serious.
"Yes unless you don't want to be my friend anymore, I'm sure Saeko would be happy to replace you" you offered knowing it would trigger him.
"Okay fine I'll help" he muttered under his breath and crossing his arms.
"Do you have any ideas?" Noya asked.
"Well Bo is so energetic and spontaneous so I was trying to think of something fitting. We already got matching tattoos so that's out though" you rubbed your chin thinking as you spoke.
"Tattoo's? WAIT YOU GOT A TATTOO??????" Noya yelled his eyes opening wide in surprise.
"Oh yea I sort of forgot to tell you guys" you said laughing, you pulled up your sleeve revealing the tattoo.
"How did you get this?" Noya said grabbing your arm and yanking it towards him.
"Bo's relative is a tattoo artist so he hooked us up as a favor" you explained.
"That's badass!" Tanaka exclaimed.
"Anyways back to ideas!" you said pulling your sleeve back down.
"Okay what about......... yea I've got nothing" Noya shrugged.
"I've got an idea, hold on" you grabbed your phone and quickly called one of the first names listed.
"Hello?" a sleepy voice said after a few rings.
"Hi Akaashi, I'm so sorry to bother you but I needed your help for a minute" you said feeling bad for waking him haven forgotten the time.
"Anything Darling" he said sounding slightly concerned.
"I need some advice on how to tell Koutarou that I'm in love with him" you said quickly, feeling nervous about admitting your feelings.
"That makes me happy to hear, and I've got the perfect idea. I'll text you the details, now get some sleep Darling, it's very late" he said with a small yawn.
"Okay Keiji, sleep tight good looking" you said playfully and made kissy noises in the phone. He laughed before making one back before hanging up.
"You trying to have his best friend too?" Tanaka teased.
"I can damn sure try" you said with a big laugh.
"Can we go to bed now?" Noya asked yawning.
"Oh yea it's pretty late" you got up and all three of you quickly changed and crawled into bed falling asleep in a tangled mess of arms and legs.

You slept soundly until all three of your morning alarms started going off. Everyone sighed deeply knowing that they hadn't gotten enough sleep. Crawling out of bed you all got dressed and hurried to the school for morning practice. School had been out the last few days but the team still needed to practice due to nationals being only a week away.
Walking into the gym you quickly found your way to the bench beside the court and collapsed onto it with a big yawn. Ukai walked up and stuck a coffee right under your nose making you smile.
"I had a feeling you would need this" he chuckled and tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
"Oh thank goodness, you are an angel" you said taking a big sip of the coffee.
"First time I've been described that way but cant say I don't like it" he smirked.
He walked away back to the court to train the guys, you decided to spend the first few minutes only watching. Once you finished the coffee you made your way over and started fixing arm placements on the guys who weren't so good at receiving. They then worked on serves and spikes which you also helped instruct on. You were watching Asahi when a hand was gently placed on your lower back, looking up you came face to face with Daichi.
"I'm glad you're here, you really had me worried the last few days." He said the concern evident in his voice. His thumb gently stroked your lower back which was oddly relaxing.
"Yea I know, I'm sorry. I needed to get away for a few days but I should've let everyone know." You apologized.
"Needed away huh? Is everything okay?" his hand left your back and gently stroked your face.
"Yea I've just had a lot on my mind is all" you said trying to shrug off the guilt you now felt by his worry.
"Anything I can help with?" he asked.
"Can you maybe come over after practice so we can talk?" you asked hoping he wouldn't ask more for fear of you breaking down.
"Yea sure" he said only hesitating for a second, he held a straight face but you could tell he knew something was off. It was his turn to serve so he walked away leaving you with a gut full of sadness. He was oddly quiet the rest of the practice and didn't even scold his underclassmen when they started goofing off before it was time to leave. When Ukai finally released everyone you waited outside the door for him to come out of the club room. He had a smile on his face when he reached for your hand but it didn't seem as sincere.
Neither of you talked the whole way to your house and it killed you inside. Once inside you went to the kitchen to get both of you something to drink but froze with your hand on the fridge handle not knowing if you could do this. You had admitted you loved Bokuto and knew that he was who you wanted to be with but the thought of telling Daichi was breaking you inside. The tears started to slip out before you could stop them and soft sobs quickly made things worse.

A strong pair of arms wrapped around your middle and he rested his head on your shoulder, holding you as you fell apart. He didn't say a word just held you from behind until you stopped crying so hard. He turned you around and used his jacket sleeve to dry your tear-stained cheeks.
"I really hate to see you cry" he said softly.
"I know, I just really thought I could do this but then seeing your worry today just made it hurt so much more inside knowing what I have to do" you mumbled out.
"Would it help if I said I'll love you no matter what you say? That I won't hate you or hurt you no matter how hurt I am" he asked, his thumb gently stroked your cheek and his eyes even though looking at you weren't looking you directly in the eyes. You could see he was trying to hide how hurt he was and it made you break even more inside.
"No...... that just shows how amazing you are and makes this impossible" you said letting out another sob. He grabbed you and pulled you tightly into his chest and gently stroked your hair.
"I need you to say it...... say it so I can let you go please" he pleaded, his voice muffled in your hair.
"i....... I can't choose you...... I'm so sorry Daichi" you whispered out before crying hard into his chest again. He squeezed you tight and you could feel the top of your hair grow damp from the tears he was trying to hide by not letting you see his face.
"Thank you baby" he said his voice slightly cracking. He used one hand to reach up and wipe his face before you could see him. When you stopped crying again he released you and dried your face with his sleeve also.
"I really hope you meant what you said about not hating me...... I couldn't bare that" you confessed.
"I don't hate you, I doubt I could no matter what you did. Things might just be bit different for a while, I'll still come over when the team does and I hope that we can still talk freely like we always have though" he explained, he took your hands in his and stroked the back of them.
"If you need time or if I can do something to make it easier for you please tell me. I don't want to hurt you anymore and I don't want to fully lose you. I know its selfish for me to say this, but I really do like you a lot, out of everyone I have to tell you were the one that I just didn't think I could." You explained.
"I know baby, thank you for being brave and telling me the truth rather than avoiding me. When you didn't respond for days I really thought I did something wrong, it wasn't till Kuroo called that I knew you were ignoring everyone" he explained.
"I swear all this had nothing to do with why I didn't respond, I just took a last minute trip out of town" you said trying to reassure him.
"I don't like you leaving like that all alone" he said sounding worried again.
"I wasn't alone" you said unsure of how he would react.
"Oh, did you go with who you decided to choose out of us?" he asked.
"Is it worse if I say no....." you asked feeling worse by the second.
"You are something else" he said shaking his head and laughing.
He stopped laughing after a moment and his face became serious again but still soft as he looked at you. You could feel the struggle you both felt in the moment but you didn't know what to say. He looked liked he was debating something inside himself but you quickly found out the answer when he stepped forward and pulled you into his chest once more. This time his hand cupped your cheek and he brought his lips to yours in one last kiss. It was a simple kiss but it was filled with so much love and hurt that tears started spilling from your eyes again. He pulled back after a minute and rested his forehead against yours.
"I need to go" he said under his breath. He stepped around you and walked out the front door without saying another word. You didn't turn to watch him leave knowing that it would only hurt more. When his feet hit the sidewalk he took off in a run, letting his tears fall freely, running until his legs wouldn't hold him up anymore and then he collapsed into the grass feeling the weight of the love he lost. He laid there in the grass, an arm over his eyes and he cried.
You felt slightly numb after he left and spent the rest of the day laying in bed. The day passed by in a haze after that, the only thing bringing you out of your depression being a small ding coming from your phone. You reached for it and unlocked the screen to see a message from Akaashi, he had texted you the plan he thought of. It was perfect and even with the days events you smiled at the thought of seeing Bo's face when you told him that you love him.
