《Oh Captain My Captain! (Haikyuu)》Chapter 32

It had been a week since the unforgettable camping vacation. Coming back to an empty house had been hard, it made you feel spoiled to say but you missed always having someone to sleep next to. Karasuno had been very busy with training for the spring qualifying rounds, which meant your days and nights were filled with watching them train to exhaustion. The determination these boys had really left you speechless most days.
The day of the qualifiers arrived in the blink of an eye and your nerves were on edge. Everyone seemed more quiet than usual, even Noya was quiet, making your nerves that much worse. Poor Hinata got sick on the bus again, and his knees were shaking.
"You okay Hinata? You look like you're about to be sick again" you said raising your hands and taking a step back from him.
"Just thinking about Hinata's puke makes me want to puke myself" Yamaguchi said covering his mouth.
"Me too, I've got a lot of anxiety now" Asahi added.
"Okay encouraging speech time" you said clapping your hands together, everyone stopped talking and looked towards you. "I know there are a lot of nerves after having lost last time, training camp was also a bit of a wake up call." You said with a shrug, everyone's shoulders slightly drooped further. "That being said all of you improved beyond measure, I am seriously proud of you. I 100% believe you are going to win this, I'll be screaming for you from the stands so do your best! Now I know its cliché but everyone put your hands in" you reached your hand out, slowly the guys got up adding their hand on top of yours.
"You too Tsukki-poo" you said teasing him with a smile, he rolled his eyes but added his hand to the mix "Okay on three! One, two, three" you called out.
"Karasuno!!!!" everyone cheered together and threw their hands in the air.
Everyone gathered and started to enter the gym, you followed them out but knew before the game you would need to make your way up to the stands. A few guys from the other team were on the other side of the net, talking rather rudely.
"Shaved heads are seriously lame dude, do you have lice or something?" one called out, clearly making fun of Tanaka. Deciding to do something shocking you walked over and grabbed Tanaka's head, pulling it down to your mouth you licked it and flipped off the guys on the other team. Tanaka's ears turned a bright red, you realized his face was practically shoved into your breasts.
"Oops sorry Tanaka" you said releasing your hold on his head. The guys on the other team looked terrified, their cheeks were a slight pink though which made you laugh.

"What the hell was that!" Tanaka whisper shouted.
"They were making fun of your sexy shaved head and I simply couldn't allow that" you said laughing.
He looked deep in thought for a second "Ill allow it" he then turned and went up to spike a ball. "TAKE THAT DAMNIT" he shouted as he slammed the ball down onto the opponents side, the already terrified boys looked even more terrified.
"I think my work here is done" you said cheerfully and started to make your way off the court.
"Hey Beautiful wait a second" Daichi called out to catch your attention. "I need a good luck kiss" he said with a half smile.
"You don't need it but ill gladly give you one" you said flashing him a smile. He pulled you into his arms, pressing his lips to yours. When he pulled back from the kiss, he planted a small peck on the tip of your nose.
"Just what I needed" he chuckled.
"Want me to lick your head too?" you joked.
"In front of all these people? You naughty girl" he teased, Your cheeks flushed red at his words. He turned you back towards the way you were originally headed and gave your butt a pat.
You made your way up into the stands and stood at the railing with Yachi to watch the game unfold. Unfortunately only one Manager was allowed down on the court so Yachi was stuck up in the stands.
"Good to see you coach, here to see your grandson?" a random man asked from beside you. An older man, came stomping up with two boys in tow.
"Grandson?" Yachi asked.
"I don't know, he doesn't look familiar to me" you whispered back to her.
The sound of a horn went off bringing your attention back to the court. The game was ready to begin and Asahi was up to serve first. He gracefully threw the ball into the air, with a big jump he slammed his palm against the ball sending it flying over the net. It hit the opponent's side in the blink of an eye, no one even moved a muscle.
"They did it!!" Yachi yelled, Asahi had gotten a service ace as a first point and you could see the confidence in the team grow.
The first set was over in a flash, Hinata scoring the final point with his amazing quick attack. Pulling your notebook from your bag, you quickly jotted some notes about everyone's form, and ideas for future games.
"That might work against a team like this, but not a stronger team" the older man said, pointing to the notes you had just written.

"And how would you know that old man?" you said with a smirk.
"Old man huh? You must hang around my grandson too much" he chuckled. "I'm Ukai Ikkei" he said extending his hand to you.
"Ukai?" you said shaking his hand "So you are coach's grandfather?" you asked.
"Yes, and by the looks of you, you must be the infamous y/n" he said with a squinted eyed smile.
"That would be me, but how did you know that?" you questioned.
"I've heard a lot about you" he stated.
"That's never good!" you said awkwardly rubbing the back of your neck. He let out a deep hearty laugh at your reaction, catching Ukai's attention.
His attention was pulled from the game as he watched you and his grandfather laugh together. Seeing how well you got along with the old man, he was hit with an odd sense of infatuation. He didn't understand the tingle of feelings he had towards you in that moment, he forcefully pulled his eyes away, trying to focus back on the game. He noticed his attention wasn't the only one momentarily stolen from the game.
The second set was just like the first, the team had brought their A game so you no longer had any nerves. You continued to take notes and the older Ukai pointed out some things you had missed. He taught you a lot about the game also, as much as you had learned from watching the guys practice, it wasn't a game that you really knew enough about. When the final horn went off signaling that Karasuno had won, you cheered loud with Yachi. The team gathered up near Ukai, but his attention was up on you once again.
"L/N" he yelled out, you looked towards his voice and locked eyes. He signaled for you to come down to him, closing your notebook you turned towards the older Ukai.
"Thank you for the advice, it was very nice to meet you." you said flashing him a bright smile.
"You as well young lady, I look forward to seeing you again" he said with a slight bow of his head.
"You too Old Man" you called out as you ran off to join the team, Yachi close on your heels.
When you got down to the court, the guys had already been dismissed to drink water and rest until the second game. You strolled up beside Ukai, waiting for him to finish talking to Kiyoko. He turned towards you, his face slightly softening.
"Lets go take a break" he said walking past you, he paused at the doors of the gym waiting for you. You jogged to catch up to him and followed him outside, he sat on a small bench near a tree, dusting the spot next to him for you to sit.
"So what did you think of the old man?" he asked after you sat down.
"I really like him, he taught me several things I didn't know and pointed out a few ways to improve that I really hadn't thought of" you explained.
"He really needs to mind his own business, but I like that you got along" he mumbled out.
"What was that?" you asked teasing him. "You like that I get along with your family? Is that why you were staring at me? Here I was thinking you were jealous" you teased further.
"I WASN'T STARING AT YOU! You were just being noisy so it was distracting" he grumpily said with a slight blush, he pulled the pack of cigarettes from his pocket.
"Yea okay Keishin. Killing your lungs really shouldn't be considered taking a break by the way" you joked, He shook his head at your words and lit the cigarette anyway.
"I've got to have someway to calm down with all the stress you and this team give me" he said rubbing at his forehead.
"I could help with that stress" you said lightly placing your hand on his thigh. His cheeks turned a bright pink and his eyes shot open in surprise. You tried hard to keep a straight face but started laughing hysterically at his reaction. "You make this too easy for me" you said still laughing.
His face turned back to a scowl and he took a long drag of his cigarette. He looked to you and grabbed your chin in between his fingers, the breath caught in your throat and your laughing instantly stopped. He used his thumb to gently pull your mouth open, he leaned his face in. His lips lightly grazed yours, pursing his lips he blew the smoke into your mouth. Your thighs clenched together in excitement, the smoke tasted terrible and burned your nose, but having his lips so close made your body tremble.
He released your chin and stood to his feet "Tease me all you want y/n, but I'm not the only one who wants this" he said motioning between the two of you. He took another drag and dropped the cigarette to the ground stomping it out. "and one day you'll be ready for this and I'll be waiting" he said as he walked away leaving you speechless.

Lone: The Wanderer [Dropped Version (includes original draft of the rewrite's first volume)]
Nine-to-five. The daily grind. Life. Painful years of school. Working as a slave for some undeserving corporate big-wig. The monotonous life of unemployment. We all experience this in one way or another, and we can all conclude one thing: it's dull. Such a fact rings true even for the fabled Lone Immortus, a powerful nine-tailed Golden Foxkin. However, what would you do if your monotony was suddenly ground to a halt and you were thrown out of your comfort zone along with a young girl forgotten by time? Perhaps you might have done things differently, been more organised, immediately died, gained control of the world in a matter of days, but this is Lone's tale, not yours. Watching two insecure people struggle to survive and find their place in an unfamiliar land just might be enjoyable to witness. Who knows? One thing's for certain: it won't be an easy path for them to tread, and what could possibly be more entertaining than watching people endure hardships and grow? I know of at least eight gods that would answer with, 'Absolutely nothing.' I wonder, after seeing this journey from start to finish, how would you answer? [Goal of 2 chapters per week, the only exceptions being announced breaks or emergencies] A/N: This story is in the middle of a rewrite, so please forgive any noticeable plot holes and wonky chapter numbers.
