«i'm looking for you in my dreams»

"I like you, Yeeun," he spoke to me. His eyes shyly flickered up to meet mines and the corners of his mouth lifted. His hands reached out to me and I felt myself being pulled closer. I sensed that tingly feeling in my stomach once again. That same tingly feeling from when he first held onto me.

Han Seojun what have you done.

My mind replayed our little scenario over and over again. I still couldn't seem to believe what my brain decided to come up with during my slumber. I woke up in awe as I thought back to that vision of Seojun staring sweetly at me with a grin plastered on his face.

"Why did I have a dream about him?" I asked myself. I stared at my ceiling but that image of him smiling once again appeared and my eyes widened. My face turned red as his eyes looked deeply into mines.

I shook my head aggressively and the image of him disappeared. Deep breaths entered in and out of my body. Embarrassed, I slammed my face onto my pillow and closed my eyes.

"Yeeun," my mother burst into my room shouting for me. She had a pair of scissors in one hand and a hair comb in the other, she smiled shyly before speaking to me excitedly, "I've been practicing how to cut hair so let me give you bangs!"

I shrugged, "sure," my mother strolled over to me and sat down on my bed. She grabbed pieces of my hair and began doing whatever she learned on the internet.

She took two strands of my hair and combed them, "you know who I saw yesterday?" I shook my head, "no, who?"

My mother smiled as she cut my hair, "your boyfriend!" she squealed, "Mr. Han told me about you two when I bumped into him at the store," she glanced at me, "so I told to pass by for some food!"

The only thing I could do was sit in silence. My mind wandered off as I began thinking about the amount of embarrassing things my mother told him.

"Why would you do that?" I moved away from her and frowned. She continued to smile, "I want to get to know him. A parent needs to approve of who you're dating," my mother pinched my cheeks and took out a mirror, "you look cute with bangs."

I analyzed my new haircut. My bangs were thick and slightly above my eyebrows. I expected them to come out awful but they appear nice on me. I nodded to my mom and began shooing her out of my room, "thank you but shouldn't you be buying food for dinner?"

She stopped in her tracks, "oh you're right!" My mother looked me over once more and smirked, "he's going to be in awe when he sees you!" I faked a smile as she walked out my room.

I ran to my nightstand and yanked my phone. My fingers aggressively tapped on the screen while I looked for Seojun in my contacts. Once I found his name, I punched the call button and waited for him to pick up.

A few rings went by before I finally heard his voice.

"What," he answered.

"My mom invited you over?" I asked him very loudly.

"She did so I said yes. Did you tell her we were dating?" he questioned me curiously.

I immediately responded, "no Mr. Han told her!"

"Oh," he said, "what a big mouth."

"You should've said no," I told him, "I'll tell her you had to go to a family event last min-"

"No," he cut me off, "I'll go I don't want to be rude."

I sighed, "fine. Just don't embarrass me."

"I won't," he assured me, "I'll bring some boxes of tea for your mom."

I responded very quietly, "okay. I'll see you later."

"Bye," Seojun spoke softly before hanging up.

A few hours went by before it finally came time to head to the kitchen for dinner. My hair appeared wavy. I chose bootcut denim pants and a black off shoulder knitted top. My lips painted with red, eyes shimmered with dark brown eyeshadow and glitter, minimal black eyeliner, and a hint of pink blush on my cheeks. I enjoy doing makeup and might as well go all out with this dinner. I just hope my mother doesn't assume I'm trying to impress Seojun.

I took a quick look at myself in the mirror before heading over to where my mother was. She wore her everyday clothing. A long sleeve sweater with black khakis. She appeared to be happy as she placed three bowls of soybean paste stew and small plates of rice and seasoned spinach on the table.

"Is he almost here?" She asked me.

I shrugged and hummed, "I think so." And then coincidentally my phone began buzzing. I checked my screen and saw his name on it, my finger quickly pressed the green icon.

"Hello?" I said.

"I'm outside," Seojun said to me.

I glanced at my mom, "he's here," I mouthed to her. She nodded and walked to the front door, opening it with a warm smile on her face. I quickly hung up.

"Hi," he greeted my mother. Seojun held onto a plastic bag. I can only assume it's the boxes of tea he told me about. He handed over the bag and smiled, "I brought lemon ginger tea. It's relieves pain and helps with nausea."

She gladly grabbed his little present, "ah, thank you so much Seojun," she stepped to the side, "come in and take a seat."

He grinned from ear to ear and followed her inside. My eyes glowed with nervousness as I saw him walk to where I was standing. I brushed my hair quickly and took a seat. I glanced up at Seojun and he shot me a tiny smile.

He sat in the seat across from me and looked at me once more. My mother gave all of us tiny water bottles and sat down with the rest of us.

She picked up her spoon, "let's eat!"

After about a good three minutes, she began bombarding Seojun and I with questions, "so how long have you two been together?"

My jaw dropped and I glanced at Seojun. He didn't seem to be panicking and responded to her question with a lot of confidence, "two months. I enjoy being around her."

It's been a week.

Seojun smirked at me as my eyes widened in confusion. My mother beamed, "our neighbor said he's seen you walk her home," she rested her hand on the table and nodded, "you're so generous for that."

Seojun gave a cheeky smile, "I don't want her walking by herself. There are too many weird people out there."

My mother swallowed a spoonful of her stew, humming to herself as she tapped my hand, "you two should go to the lantern festival after you and Seojun finish eating,"

I raised my eyebrows, "uh-"

"We'll go," Seojun answered for the both of us.

"It's right next to the house luckily," she said, "just be careful and have fun," the rest of dinner went silent after that.

"Woah," Seojun watched in amazement as a bunch of glowing artwork swam past Cheonggyecheon stream. He looked like an excited little kid with each and every lantern that went by.

"You've never gone to the lantern festival before?" I asked him.

He shook his head as his eyes lit up, "never. This is my first time coming here," Seojun took his phone out and began recording the show in front of us.

I could only stare at him. His happy expressions made me smile and lose focus on the lanterns. For the rest of the show I was only looking at him. Almost as if he was the show.
