Chapter Ten; The End.
The ground felt nice beneath Eden's feet, she gave herself a nod when she realized she hadn't screwed anything up. But, she had. Something was pulling on the end of her sweater, she looked down to see the same little girl Eden had left with Leo.
'How did you get here?' Eden panicked, she kneeled down so she could be level with her.
'I wanted to come with you. The other man scares me.'
Eden could hear Tina's and Newt's voice along with another one, it was male but it was unfamiliar to Eden.
'Well, if you are going to come with me I would
like to know your name first.' Eden tried to smile, she wanted the child to feel safe.
'Bella.'
'That's a great name.' Eden said standing up, she wrapped her hand around Bella's and they slowly began walking towards the main subway. That's when she heard Mr Graves voice and many others, some she still couldn't place from working at the Ministry for years.
'Can you stay here while I go check if it's safe?' Eden asked, Bella nodded her head and placed herself against the wall. Eden sighed with relief as she slowly approached the opening, she could see Tina talking to a boy while Newt dodged spells from Mr Graves. Eden jumped out with her wand, Newt was the first to notice her.
'Eden?' He said ducking as a white light shit just above him, 'I told you to stay home, it's to dangerous!'
'Credence.' Mr Graves said as Newt ran behind a pillar, 'Come with me, we will never have to hide our abilities any longer.'
'I know what that woman did to you!' Tina yelled, that caught the boy, Credence's attention.
'I tried to stop her, I really did.' She added stepping closer but Credence began shaking. He started screaming as mist overtook him, he flew around the subway, everyone ducked. After a few minutes he came back and collapsed next to a railing.

'Creddy!' A voice echoed through the underground, Bella came trotting into view. Eden's eyes widen and ran to her, she scooped her up into her arms.
'Bella?' The boy frowned, 'You shouldn't be here.'
'What's happening to him?' Bella asked, she looked terrified.
Newt crept back into the picture, 'Credence, we can help you. You will never have to worry about this again, ok? You can be with your family.'
Someone coughed, Eden stared at Madame Picquery as she lead even more Ministry workers through the underground.
'What are you doing?' Eden asked, the woman only glared at Eden more coughing once again. After gaining everyone's attention she stared at the boy. The Ministry raised their wands and the boy flinched before slowly backing up.
'Don't!' Newt yelled, 'You're scaring him.'
'He is a monster.' Picquery glared, 'He has destroyed half of New York City, killed the mayor- he should be dead!'
'He has a family!' Eden cried, 'A little sister who loves him to pieces, you won't do anything to him!'
'Don't hurt him!' Bella wailed trying to free herself from Eden's arms, Eden only held tighter.
Credence took a step forward, the Ministry reacted with such force that even Eden was taken back with surprise. Surprise then turned into shock and grief as where Credence once stood was just flakes of black mist following by the echoes of his scream. Bella broke free from Eden's gaze and charged for what was left of her brother, possible her only family.
Eden watched as the little girl cried, she collapsed onto the cold ground kicking and screaming her brother's name. Eden knew what it was like, losing someone who didn't deserve to go. She did the exact same thing when her mother died, it was like the world died with her. Newt was already there trying to talk to Bella but she tried her best to get away from him, he frowned looking back at Eden.

Eden rushed forward to her while Newt put his focus back onto the Ministry and Mr Graves.
'You lied to me.' Bella sniffed, 'You said you was somewhere safe!'
'I'm sorry.' Eden frowned, 'I didn't know who your brother was, I shouldn't of said that.'
'You liar!'
Bella was only eight but hearing a little girl scream at Eden with all the anger she could muster up made Eden want to cry herself. Eden was so devoted to trying to make Bella feel better she didn't notice Newt take shots at Mr Graves, she didn't notice what had happened until Tina grabbed Eden's shoulder with such force she almost fell backwards.
'What do you want-' Eden began but couldn't finish as she laid eyes on man she once called Mr Graves. He's hands and legs we're tied to his back, two Ministry workers held him back.
'Grindelwald?' Eden said with so much disbelief she forget where she was for a second.
'You're so much like your mother, you know?' He smiled, 'Trying to help people that don't deserve your time.'
'Do not speak about my mother!' Eden yelled, 'You have no right!'
She could feel tears well up in her eyes, she wanted to punch him but she couldn't get herself to move.
'Look where it has gotten you, Eden Rowan.' Grindelwald sneered, 'You were left alone in a world that didn't know what to do with you. Your only friend left as well as your mother! She should've joined me when she had the chance, but she chose otherwise.'
'What?' Eden whispered, 'What are you talking about?'
'All in good time, my dear.' He snickered as he was lifted up off the ground, 'This won't be the last you'll see of me.'
Newt rushed up next to Eden, she felt his arms wrap around her protectively. She couldn't think straight, in her mind it was only the man who killed her mother and herself. What was she waiting for?
'How could you!' Eden cried, 'If you knew her, how could you murder her in cold blood. How could you murder so many people, have you no soul?'
'There is many things you don't know.' Grindelwald said as he was lead deeper into the underground. 'Soon you'll see, you will see that it's all for the greater good.'
Eden screamed charging for him, she pointed her wand at him as she was shoved against the wall. She pushed and kicked, Newt stared back at her, his hands pinning her up against the crumbling wall.
'Eden.' He whispered, 'Don't let him win.'
She whimpered still fighting, she wasn't ready for him to walk away again. This time he hadn't taken anything away from her but it was all the same. Her mother was already gone, she was never coming back.
'He already won.' She said, tears flowing down her cheeks.
Newt sighed, it looked like he was going to cry too. He let go of her, she collapsed into him. He wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug, she clung onto him, tears staining his clothing, she was afraid to let go.
'It's over.' Newt mumbled, 'He's gone, he will get the punishment he deserves.'
She nodded ever so slightly, she was shaking as she clung onto him for dear life.
'I'm sorry.' She whispered, sobbing.
'So am I.' Newt replied, 'And I always will be.'

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.
