Bricks and debris were everywhere, police and muggles filled the surrounding area. Sirens and yelling could be heard miles away, Newt, Mercy and the strange woman who was called Tina approached the building.
After leaving the ministry type area, the pair only discovered that the case the man had hit Mercy with was not his. The case he picked up in panic had been Newts, the only difference between the two identical cases were Newts was filled with magical creatures and the muggles was filled with an assortment of delicious looking pastries.
A mother holding her children was yelling, the policemen who had been taking questions was also raising his voice. They bickered back and fourth about how the damage was done by a gas leak or was not, the woman ended up winning her battle as an older looking homeless man took her side.
Tina had stopped to hear what the two had to say, yet she knew the truth. The three of them knew the damage was not done by a gas leak nor anything with explanation. The damage had most likely been done by one of Newts magical creatures who was inhabited in his suitcase, Tina knew the truth and was determined to let Mercy and Newt know.
As Tina turned around to speak with the two, they were gone. They both had escaped into the building as the woman and policemen bickered, what a perfect diversion Mercy thought as she ran into the building by Newts side.
'Who do you think did it?' Asked Mercy as they entered the demolished room. Mercy's mind went blank seeing the damage, broken glass covered the floor with bits of brick and dust filled the air making it difficult to breathe. A giant hole occupied where the bricks once stood, untouched. With a wave of Newts wand the hole began to repair itself and the mess of the room disappeared placing everything back in its natural position to look as it had been untouched. Tina ran through the door stopping, almost tripping over her own two feet. Her brown eyes travelling the room before landing on a panicking Mercy and a calm Newt sat on the edge of a strangers bed quickly closing his case.

'Was it open?'
'A smidge' Newt shrugged locking the case tightly, Mercy sat next to Newt with her head in her hands mumbling different curse words. Newt chuckled wrapping a protective arm around her and pulling her towards him 'it's all going to be fine' he whispered trying to calm the woman down as Tina marched towards the two with a look of anger concealed on her face.
'Is that Niffler thing on the loose again?'
'Might be, yes' Newt mumbled staring down at Mercy, a few seconds later a loud groan was heard from the corner of the room. All three heads shot towards the direction of the noise, Tina walked towards the noise and beneath a pile of broken picture frames was a man hunched on the floor groaning in pain. Mercy joined the other woman to examine the man, he made another loud noise before turning over and coming face to face with two woman.
'Hey! Your the man from the bank, the one who hit me in the face' Mercy shouted, the man flinched continuing to look confused as ever towards Mercy.
'He is hurt! Merlins beard, he's bleeding' Tina exclaimed kneeling beside the man as she reached out to touch the marks on his neck as a hairless creature jumped out from a cabinet onto her baby blue coat, she screamed jumping backwards onto the floor as Newt leaped across the room and grabbed the creature before shoving it back into his case.
'What was that, that thing?' She gasped straightening out her coat and fixing her hat, 'is that what attacked the No-Maj?'
'It's a Murtlap, it's bite is no where near dangerous but may cause some harmful side effects' Newt explained staring at the bite marks, two small holes were on the mans large neck. The man made a weird noise and looked off out the window, Tina coughed glaring at Newt and pointing towards the man.

'Okay, yes that looks like a rather more intense side effect but the first side effect would be flames out of his anus so...' Newt coughed looking at his own shoes to mask the embarrassment of the sentence that had just left his mouth. Tina looked appalled, looking at Newt and Mercy she continued speaking 'how could you let this happen?' She asked kneeling back down to repeatedly ask the Muggle if he was alright.
'We can keep him, if you prefer- until he's better' Newt said looking back up at Tina who whipped back around and glared at Newt, 'we do not keep No-Majs, Mr. Scamander'
'It was just a suggestion' Mercy added in
Tina bent down and yanked the man by his arm trying to pick him up, after five or six tugs the man wouldn't budge but groan in pain some more. Newt ran over and helped Tina place the man back on his feet 'Your the man from the bank' he yelled pointing at Newt 'hello' Newt smiled backing away.
'You had left behind th- the egg' he mumbled feeling his head 'this must be a nightmare'
Tina helped the man sit on the lumpy bed, 'I never went to the bank, I never asked for the loan' he continued to mumble looking around dazed
'This is all one big nightmare!' He concluded loudly as Tina stared from Mercy to Newt and back to the man.
'You and me both'

Candor: The Forgotten House
*** Please read note below *** As a 16-year-old mage from a powerful family, Jayce Candor had known from a young age what his future would hold. As the fourth son in his family the possibility of him becoming the heir to the household was very small. But, with his talent as a mage, his potential accomplishments in the military could lead to titles of nobility and political power. However, on what would otherwise be an unremarkable night, everything he had ever known, the only people he ever cared for, and all of the plans for his future were destroyed. House Candor, one of the six great houses that helped build the Eldoran Empire had been erased from history. By imperial decree, all those bearing the name Candor were hunted down and executed as traitors of the Empire. With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here
