《THE FORGOTTEN DAD》CHAPTER 39 - PART 2

"Good evening, Mr. Jeon," Park Chanyeol stood up from his chair once Jungkook stepped into his office. Since the rumour began to wander around Eva, his emotions are all over the place. The voice has to be very clear at all times in order to convey the emotion and guess that's why he came. He was looking for an answer.
These unanswered questions, he can spend his life wallowing in despair, wondering why he was the one who was led towards the road strewn with pain.
Why am I the way I am? There are no real answers. Why was I cruel to you? Why was I awful to you? And so I wait. I wait for time to heal the pain and raise me to my feet once again - so that I can start a new path, my own path, the one that will make me whole again.
"What kind of business you coming today?" Park Chanyeol began to question him, keeping his casual expression with no hint of hesitation.
"Keep your promise, Mr. Park. I already left her but still, he needs to see her daughter," Jungkook spoke in seriousness.
"Do you believe me that she doesn't want to see Eva?" Park Chanyeol told him while looking at him with no smile. Those words were pissing him off. Park Chanyeol was too much and a selfish person by keeping Y/N away from her own daughter.
"I assume you already heard the news. You know, about me and Y/N," Chanyeol's voice took on a more gentle tone and it frustrates Jungkook all over again if it was the reason Chanyeol of not letting her out. Just because that damn news, she decided to ignore their child? If this make sense to you?
"I will be honest with you. I don't believe every bit of nonsense those media rumored about. I been there, I know who the biggest liar in the world is."
"She's already left," Park Chanyeol finally told him the truth.
"What?!" Jungkook surprised.
"She left because of that news," He said again, just as confident as before.
"That was another lie, isn't?" Jungkook spoke in disbelief. He knows Chanyeol lied for a living and for that he refused to believe another word from this guy.
Park Chanyeol stared at him with a pair of hopeless eyes. "If you want honesty look into my eyes, Jungkook."
His honest eyes bored into him as if trying to convince Jungkook he was not lying. However he found it hard to believe. Chanyeol's quivering lower lip begged Jungkook to believe him, his heart told him he would never lie to him anything related to Y/N but his gut convinced him he lies...
"Say it!" Jungkook raised his voice out of sudden. "Say what had happened between you two? What have you done to Y/N?!"
"She doesn't want to be here anymore. She never see me more than a friend, Mr. Jeon. How pathetic was that?" Park Chanyeol tried to hide his nervous by laughing out loud. Little did he know, Jungkook could recognize trembling in his voice?
"Where she is right now?!" Jungkook yelled in anger. Jungkook clutched Chanyeol's collar, so he would know he came to not messing around with him.
And at the same time he realized that feeling of regret he has let the wrong person go.
In the moment, that flash of anger protected me from the pain. I failed myself, and you too. The problem was never you, but me. To be better, my love, I thought of being able to walk alone. Then I can be who I need to be, who I thought you need me to be. Just know that I love you, that my anger was just that, a flash of fire to cover my own weakness...

How he longed to go back and take a different path, but now that was impossible. There was no way back. There was no way to make it right.
"Jungkook, I know you will hate me if I ever tell you this, but I'm really sorry," Chanyeol gasps. He stares at him in silence, his eyes still filled with sadness and pain, making Jungkook slowly released him.
"Everything was my fault," he finally says, sounding betrayed and making Jungkook looked at him in confusion.
"I tried to forget. Leave the past behind. But I couldn't do it when I saw her from the distance, get pressure by the crowd and I immediately saw her pain. My love for her was never conditional or time limited, it has no expiry date, but in my failure to adequately transmit that I failed in the worst possible way. The news about she will be getting married, I knew it was not what she wants. Think about it, it all could need a misunderstanding. It could need all an accident."
Jungkook heard clearly each word Chanyeol exposed to him. His brain stutters for a moment and his eyes take in more light than he expected, every part of him goes on pause while his thoughts catch up. The truth arrives unannounced leaving his mouth hung with lips slightly parted and his eyes were as wide as they could stretch.
"That's how the regret is getting me, it's taking a little bit of my defenses at a time. It comes in waves, what I should have done or said differently, what I shouldn't have done at all. I can't undo it, but can I make it right. I just don't know. All I can do is try. This is not because of Mark and Jennie. Everything happens because of me. I was the reason behind all of this, Mr. Jeon."
Words left him. Knowing Park Chanyeol the one who ruins his marriage a few years ago, his eyes burning with anger. Of course, he wanted to kill him beyond what he had done to him. But right now, the most important isn't him. It was her. Jungkook wants to see her first. He remembered every cruel word he once said to Y/N when she was begging for an apology from him.
Jungkook has been standing there looking at Chanyeol more in sorrow than in anger and he has made up his mind to one thing. That he gotta find her before she leaves.
"Tell me where she is right now!" he asked.
"Far from here," Chanyeol said before handing him a letter.
The letter was looking new and freshly smell, and it was addressed to Jungkook. He knew it was from her. She didn't even say goodbye to Eva. How cruel she is. Or maybe she was too heartbroken with the news she didn't even have any courage to face him. Jungkook knows her too well and he knew this heavy guilt sat on her chest for ever letting her own friend destroy her life.
Jungkook stood and left, leaving the letter behind. He didn't need it; he knew every word she was about to say to him.
༻♡༺
The tears begin flowing just as quickly as they were ceasing. One step. Two steps. Three steps. Y/N was walking towards him in a middle of rain, in a middle of road. Jungkook's heartbeat seemed to echo after finally he found her there. He was looking for her at the airport for hours and seeing her here put him into cry.

Rain and tears mingle on his face, salty tracks blending into the dark sky-fallen trickles. He was staring into the eyes of the girl he loves for song long. It was not too late. Not too late to be honest. Not too late to tell the truth...
"Stay," he said in a small whisper.
Jungkook first told her how he felt. Those drops weren't just magical, they were divine. Each one washed away an unseen pain, a doubt, an angst. For the time their lips were locked together the world itself ceased to exist, blurred and indistinct as a wet painting left out in the torrent that fell from the dark cloud above. When they pulled back his eyes were like every fantasy he'd ever had of her, every moment he had wished could exist between the two of them.
"Stop, Jungkook," she said. "I have to go now."
Slowly, tears began to tip over again from her swollen eyelids, leaving sad, pale trails in her ruined makeup.
"We're staying together," he promised. "You're not getting away from me. Never again."
"Was it another lie?"
"I don't want to lose you." His voice almost a whisper. Seeing his haggard expression, she took his hand and squeezed it, then reluctantly let it go. She could feel the tears again, and she fought them back. "But you don't want to keep me, either, do you?" To that, he had no response.
"I care," he said in a trembling voice. "I care so much that I do not know how to tell you without it seeming inconsequential compared to how I feel. Not after what we have been through together. Even if I am distant at times and seem as if I do not want to be with you, it is only because this scares me, too."
They stared at each other in an odd way, as if it were a silent argument. Their glances battled each other, until tears arose, and they found themselves crying all over again.
"This is all my fault. You're right, Jungkook. I am unworthy for you. I am unworthy for Eva."
"Why did you have to leave?" He sighed, wiping his own tears.
She chuckled beneath the salty tears, "It's payback."
Jungkook quickly grabbed her arm. "Why must we have to be in pain when it's not our fault at all, Y/N? Why you have to be the one who giving up of everything?"
"I put you and Eva in danger just by..."
"By being here? And what's the alternative? Take off? Leave Eva and Jisung behind?" he said, looking away. He just didn't like hearing the thought voiced; it sounded too close to self-pity.
"It will be alright. I'm right beside you, always." He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close, gently rubbing her arm.
"Don't leave me," he whispered. "If I can see pain in your eyes then share with me your tears. If I can see joy in your eyes then share with me your smile. You're too important for me to lose, no one should leave you alone again."
In her embrace, the cold rain felt like it had stopped and the cars became silent in that back ally. "Please don't leave again." The words hardly managed to break out as the sob's she was holding in chocked her voice back. His chin rested on top of her head. His arms clenched her tighter.
"I'll never leave you again. I promise."
Finally he could feel the warmth of her presence as if a soft blanket had been wrapped around his soul, around his heart. It held him and protected him. It sheltered him and he knew he wasn't alone anymore.
She looked him in the eye. "I love you."
And that's just what he needed to hear, that she's his for now and into the future... that there will be a future... one he can survive. He have loved. He have lost and he have changed.
༻♡༺
A letter to my love, Y/N,
I have never been very good at talking. Whenever I try to express the emotions whirling in my soul, my throat tightens blocking me from saying anything. So I will write. I never should have let you go, I realize that now. I chased after things that looked good, or women who were pretty but never truly had a place in my heart. You were always there for me every time I chased after one obsession or another. You quietly stood by my side supporting me. Though I didn't know it at the time, I loved you, you were more than just a best friend to me. I could tell you things easily and you just listened. You always made me laugh. I thought I had my life figured out, but I didn't. Without my knowing from the moment I first saw you real love began to take shape in my heart. I only truly realized it when I saw you at the cafe. You didn't know I was there, but I looked at you then and realized that I loved you. You were so different from the other girls I chased. You cared. Love radiated in your heart spilling out into the lives of all those around you. You weren't just pretty on the outside you had a beauty somewhere deep within.
I have no right to your heart, but am blessed to love you with my own. I have no right to your time, but am honored to share moments. It is for me to do what is best for you, and not seek fulfillment of my own desires at an expense to your wellbeing. It is for me to seek what would make you happy, what would be best for your soul. Just know that when you tell me of your hurt, I hurt too, how can I not?
That you love me like you do is a miracle I treasure every moment of every day; it would be so beautiful if everyone had love like that in their lives. You give me the strength to confront my fears, my angers, my failings and know that I am still worthy of your love. With the strength you give I can know myself with unguarded eyes and realize that, though I am not perfect, I am good enough share love with you. I'm not afraid of my emotions anymore. I am a work in progress, always learning how to use who I am to help others find the love they need and deserve.
No matter how long we were married, we were always lovers first. Life brought so many changes, from youthful teens to newlyweds, from young professionals to parents. There were ups and downs, times of closeness that seared one another forever into each other's souls and times of distance, of near isolation. Yet we always found a way back to being lovers, to passion's first true kiss, to that moment of union that makes lovers so special. And love, no matter what, I am here to keep your heart safe too, to be whatever you and our children need me to be...
"This is your vow?" Kino stole a paper Jungkook holding on before. For a moment, he scanned a long handwritten letter.
"Do you think she will forgive you once she listen to this?" Kino question him after he read the letter.
Jungkook slowly shook his head before taking the letter away from Kino. He then folded the paper and placed it into his pocket.
"My expectation is too high. It's not love because I say it is. It's not love because she is so destroyed at my departure. Attachments can be that strong, but they aren't love. That I loved her meant so much more and those emotions ran so deep for so long. She sacrificed for me, she walked into the storm with nothing but her love, her spirit, her will to protect, only asking for the safety of my child... I said I would go to hell to save this relationship, our child that it sounded like a good deal. I didn't just let her go. I pushed her into it to save myself. And for that I couldn't say this vow in front of her and our child. It would be too shameless for me,"
"Then why you're writing this letter?" Kino asked him.
"Maybe one day. Maybe one day when everything is back to their place, I will give it to her,"
