I sat silently at my desk, typing away. I awaited the arrival of boss— needless to say I was a little nervous for it.

We hadn't spoken since the elevator. That was five days ago. I guess neither of us knew how to approach it, or maybe neither of us wanted to.

"Psst. Wanna go get coffee?" Sebastian whispered, almost reading my mind.

I got up, walking into the break room. I leaned against the counter, twiddling with my fingers. I didn't know what to feel, guilt or betrayal.

Sebastian looked at me, raising a brow. "What's on your mind? I can tell you're distracted."

I had no answer. I wanted to tell him about Vinnie, but it wasn't the right thing to do. I didn't want to make a big deal out of something that, to be perfectly honest, never had a chance of happening.

"It's nothing. Just a lot of work, you know?" I said, popping a K-Cup into the Keurig. He chuckled, knowing I was full of shit.

"Luna, I know this is about boss. I'm not an idiot."

I bit my lip, turning to him. "Let's just say not everything is meant to be." I said, taking my now filled coffee cup back to my desk.

Boss still wasn't in, which was unheard of, especially at 10am. Normally he'd be in by 8am sharp. And, he hadn't made me aware of a possible absence.

"Because I you what to do, Chase. Now I'm stuck in this fucking predicament because of you, !" We all heard as boss walked in, completely disheveled.

He didn't look the same. His jawline was lined with stubble, and his curly hair was knotted. He wasn't wearing a preen black suit, he only wore a white t-shirt with dress pants.

I looked at Sebastian, furrowing my eyebrows. He shrugged his shoulders, completely unaware of what was going on.

Most workers around here were shocked by boss's yelling, but that was no surprise to Sebastian or I. As his assistants, we see things most don't.

"Ms. Rayne, my office ." He commanded, after slamming the doors to his office.

My eyes widened. Normally, he would call in Sebastian for a frustrating work call like so. Why he was calling me in was a completely mystery.

I got up, eyeing Sebastian the entire time. He looked surprised, biting his lip. He knew I wouldn't know how to take care of this issue.

My hand touched the metal door knob, almost hesitant to open it. I gulped, feeling the cold on my hand. It was intimidating, knowing I could be walking into a full-fledged phone war.

Finally, I opened the door. Boss's eyes immediately shifted to me, a smile appearing on his face.

"You needed me, boss?" I said, pulling the hem of my dress down. I didn't want him getting any ideas.

"I... I just needed to see your face." He said, locking his eyes with mine. I didn't know how to feel, or what to even say.

"Vin- boss, I don't know how I can help you." I said, trying to be as professional as possible.

I watched as a wave of sadness washed over him. If it were even possible, he looked even worse than before I came in here. I felt bad, I knew I was breaking his heart.

He got up, walking over to me, taking my hands in his. "About the other night.." he began before I gestures my hand for him to stop.

"No, boss. No explaining, please. I'd rather not know."

"Why are you so quick to assume the worst of me?" He questioned. The warmth of his hands sent a chill up my back, it was happening again.

I bit my lip. "How would you feel if you saw me calling some other guy baby?"

"I wouldn't feel great, but I'd let you explain." He said.

I knew he was right. He wasn't an irrational person, not quite like how I am. He was right, I just didn't want to admit it out loud.

"This wasn't the first time I had seen you with her, you know."

He let go of my hands. "I thought you didn't see her when she came here..."

I furrowed my eye brows. How could I have not seen her? She was beautiful with her long blonde hair and perfectly shaped body. She made me feel like a cereal box.

"Vinnie... I work right outside of your office. You two made quite the exit." I said, scratching the back of my head.

How he could just think I didn't notice them, shows his ignorance. How could I not have? He made it wildly clear he had a girl in there. Everyone knows his doors show silhouettes.

"I had an eerie feeling that you knew. I just didn't want to believe it." He replied, biting his lip.

I rolled my eyes. "Vinnie, if this is ever going to be anything... I want you. Not you and your side chick, just you." I pleaded, trying to make it clear how important he was to me.

All he did was stare at me, opening his mouth, trying to find the right words. I knew what he was going to say, so I said it for him.

"It can't just be you and me." I said, wiping a lone tear that fell down my face. He looked into my eyes, guilt filling them.

I nodded, tears now pouring down my face. I should've known this would never of worked. We're two completely different people, polar opposites. He doesn't want what I do.

"Got it." I muttered, walking out of his office.

I sat in my chair, grabbing a cardboard box that was next to it, filling it up with my belongings.

"Luna what are you doing?" Vinnie asked, walking out of his office. I gave him a look of disgust, continuing to pack my belongings.

He put his hands over mine, pinning them down on the desk. "I'm leaving, Vinnie. I can't do this anymore."

A tear ran down his face and he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.

"Luna don't do this." He commanded. I rolled my hands out of grasp, grabbing my jacket and box, walking towards the elevator. I pressed the elevator button, tapping my foot anxiously.

Vinnie ran towards me, out of breath. "Why are you doing this?" He questioned.

I shook my head, trying to understand the outwardly idiotic question he just asked.

"Why?" I sneered. "You think it's easy being involved with you? Every fucking day I wake up, and think about you. You're on my mind every five fucking seconds Vinnie, and it's exhausting! I can't just sit here at peace, knowing you're out fucking some other girl after telling me all the things you did."

He wiped my cheek of the tears I hadn't realize were pouring down them. With his right hand, he pushed me closer to him, embracing me in a hug.

"I'm so sorry, Luna."

I nuzzled my head into his neck. "You can't just tell me you can't get enough of me without meaning it."

He sighed, holding me tighter and closer. We both knew the entire office was watching right now, but we didn't care. They all assumed something had happened in the first place.

"Let's take you home." Vinnie said, pushing the elevator button. I nodded, not letting go of him as we walked into it.

Vinnie moved me so he could see my face. "You're not really quitting, right?" He asked, a glimpse of hope in his eyes.

I chuckled. "No, Vinnie. That was just my dramatic side."

"Good. I don't know what I'd do without you here."

I blushed but still felt the stinging in my heart. "Vinnie, I need you to tell me nothing is going on with that other girl." I said, chewing my lip.

He let go of me, my body becoming cold without his touch. I lifted his head with my hand, locking eyes. It was clearly noticeable that he was lost, and it would take time for him to figure this all out.

"It's okay, Vinnie" I began, trying not to cry, "Take your time. But just know, I'll be waiting."

I gave him a light kiss on the cheek, stepping inside the elevator, never losing eye contact until the door closed.

"Hey." Amelia said as I walked into the apartment. I ignored her, walking into my room and slamming the door.

I hadn't spoken to her, either, not since our encounter in the bathroom. At first, I was okay with her texting Jonah, but after thinking about it, I realized that she shouldn't just be let off the hook as though nothing happened.

Because of her, my face is completely scratched up, bruises have formed all over my body, and my self-esteem is at an all-time low. I know she meant no harm, but I can't move on without, at the least, ignoring her for a few days.

"Luna, please talk to me. I thought we were okay?" She said, lightly knocking on the door. I rolled my eyes, continuing to remove my makeup from the long day I just had.

As bad as I wanted to tell her all about my life and Vinnie, I just couldn't.

I got up, opening the door. "Give me time, please." I said gently, shutting and locking the door again.

I just wanted to be alone.

I watched as she walked onto the elevator, trying to smile at me. I knew she couldn't, I had hurt her far too much at this point.

I looked down at the box in my hands, filled with all of her stuff. She had a picture of her and her Mom, hugging. It looked like they were at some sort of party, maybe a wedding. She looked beautiful.

"Fuck me." I muttered in regret, knowing I should have treated her better. She loved me, even if she couldn't admit it. I loved her too, and I only had three encounters with her.

I began to walk back to my office, drawing stares from everyone in the office. "Unless I said you all could take a break, I see no reason why you're all staring at me right now." I spit, watching everyone immediately go back to work.

As I entered my office, I set Luna's box down on her desk, letting out a sigh. I guess she was close enough to see the girl I brought back to the office, how I thought she didn't notice was incredibly stupid of me.

Suddenly, my phone rang, forcing me out of my thoughts. "Yes?" I muttered, not even bothering to check who was calling.

"Mr. Hacker, we need your answer regarding the deal now." My executive, Jordan, said quickly. I knew he was stressed.

I bit my lip. "Fine. Just say yes. I cant think about this right now, Jor."

"Vinnie, are you sure? This is a huge deal." I rolled my eyes, annoyed at his persistence.

"Just tell them yes. I have to go." I said, slamming the phone down on the desk.

There were no words to describe the frustration that was raging within me. When I came into this industry, nobody ever told me how much I would be relied on. I had only been in the industry for three years, yet it feels like I'd been here a lifetime.

I got up and sat on the ledge next to the big windows in my office that showcased the entire city. It was beautiful, yet right now seemed so dark. I wished Luna was here, but I knew she needed time for herself.

Every time I think of her face when she saw me kiss the other girl, it was something I was incapable of forgetting. She looked so... broken. And it was because of me.

Michelle meant nothing to me. She was just a business deal. But how could Luna have known that? I've expected her to know me like a book when we've only been alone three times.

"I'm such a fucking idiot..." I muttered to myself, rubbing my eyes hoping this would all go away.

"An idiot? Why is that?" I heard a rough, hoarse female voice say. I knew for a fact this wasn't Luna, but it was Michelle.

I rolled my eyes getting up, leaning against the ledge. "What do you want, Michelle?"

She strolled over to me, stroking my face with her dry skin. I cringed, shoving her hand off me. She looked at me with a face full of confusion. I refused to lock eyes with her.

"What the hell is up with you?" She spits, crossing her arms.

"Nothing." I mumbled, returning to my desk chair. I didn't want her knowing about Luna, I knew what Michelle was capable of.

Michelle scoffed, slamming her hands on the desk. "So one moment you're thrusting into me, and the next you don't even want to speak?" She sneered, staring daggers at me.

"Just get out." I said calmly, trying not to get angry.

"You can't make me do shit. If you lose me, you lose the deal."

I looked up at her, my eyes going wide. How could she have known? Nobody knew of this except for Jordan and I.

"What kind of bullshit are you spewing?" I said, attempting to act like I had no idea what she was talking about.

She let out an evil chuckle. "You really think I don't know that you're just using me to cop a deal? God, Vinnie, you clearly underestimated me." She said, sitting in the chair in front of my desk.

I licked my lips before biting them, trying to figure out what my next step would be. Blowing this deal would be catastrophic to my company, and I would almost immediately be fired. I couldn't take that chance.

"What do you want?" I said, waving an imaginary white flag. She smirked, licking her lips.

"You." She growled, "And don't think I'm completely obvious to your little Luna."

My eyes widened, how does this bitch know everything?

"If you hurt her so help me god I wi-"

She held her hand up, commanding me to stop. "Silly boy, she won't get hurt. As long as you stay the fuck away from her."

I twiddled with my fingers, feeling weaker than ever. I would do anything to protect Luna, but I couldn't just stop seeing her. She's my colleague, and I couldn't fire her.

"Michelle, she works here." I mocked, furrowing my eyebrows.

"I'm not an idiot. As long as I don't see her around you, or vise versa, she'll stay safe. Got it?" She said, adjusting her tacky push-up bra.

I rolled my eyes. "Got it."
