I sat in my office, sipping on my now luke-warm coffee. It was only 9am, but it felt as though it was 11pm, and I was about to pass out of exhaustion.
This job I impulsively took was exhausting. But I needed money, so anything would've done the trick.
If I'm honest, I don't even know what this job fully entails. My boss is extremely secretive, almost as though he's part of a gang, or some kind of dangerous group.
I never bother to ask, mostly because I know he won't tell me. Weird enough, I'm also the only woman walking in this office. The rest are all guys.
"Ms. Rayne, boss is requesting you in his office immediately." My co-worker, Sebastian, said through the phone speaker. I took a deep breath, getting up from my chair.
The clicks of my heels against the white marble floor could be heard throughout the entire office. I couldn't help but feel noticed.
As I approached boss's office, my hands began to sweat, becoming clammy. My heart was pounding, but I wasn't sure why. I knocked on the door lightly, standing properly, as I knew he could see my silhouette.
"Come in." He spoke strongly.
I opened the door, immediately feeling his eyes on me. To say I felt confident was a lie. I couldn't help but feel completely and utterly overpowered by this man.
He sat in a black chair, his legs crossed. He was dressed in an all-black suit, his mop of curly hair resting on his forehead. He had a tiny chain necklace on, with various rings on his fingers.
He looked... .
"You needed me, boss?" I questioned. None of us ever called boss by his actual name, which was Vinnie.
He stood up from his chair, lining the edge of the desk with his fingers.
"Ms. Rayne, you have done an outstanding job here..." he began, inching closer to me by the second, "I just wanted to recognize this. Make it known youre... valued here."
I squinted my eyes, trying to pick apart the smolder on his face. This was the first time I had ever talked to boss, apart from the interview.
"Thank you, boss. It means more than you know." I said, turning around before a hand landed on my waist.
I looked down, seeing boss's hand gripping me. He pulled, spinning me around, my chest hitting his. Our faces inches away from one another.
He looked down at me, a devilish look playing in his eyes. Licking his lips, he took a deep breath, still concentrating on me.
"I-is there anything else you need, boss?"
He said nothing, yet was saying everything. His hand still lay on my waist, creating a warmth I had never quite felt before.
Suddenly, he leaned into my ear, his hot breath sending chills around my body.

"That's all. You're dismissed." He whispered, pulling away slowly, removing his hand from my waist.
I nodded, turning around, finally being able to walk out of the room. I shut the door behind me, slowly walking back towards my desk. I couldn't stop thinking about what just happened.
My mind was in a haze, making it impossible for me to do any sort of work. My associates had their eyes peeled on me. It was as though everybody knew what just happened.
I sipped my coffee, collecting my thoughts, and readjusting my posture. I couldn't act like anything happened, or like I cared.
Getting involved with my boss most certainly isn't on my agenda. Not only is it against my morals, but it would give me a reputation that nobody ever wants.
To be truthful, Vinnie was the man of my dreams. Whether or not he's my boss, he's still a fine piece of ass.
"Luna, what the hell just happened in there?" Sebastian whispered from his desk that was across from mine.
I rolled my eyes. "Nothing. Don't believe whatever it is you heard."
"Oh come on, Luna. I saw the look on your face when you walked out. Something must've happened."
"Nothing happened, Sebastian. Even if it did, it would mean nothing to me." I whispered angrily.
Sebastian held his hands up in surrender, knowing he should stop prying. I pursed my lips, continuing to perform my to-do tasks that boss gave me earlier this morning.

I had been getting looks from everyone around the office all day. It was unsettling, to say the least.
Finally, lunch time rolled around, and I was able to sit in my car alone. Normally I have lunch with Sebastian, but being in the break-room wasn't appealing to me at the moment.
I couldn't stop thinking about what my run-in with boss meant. As much as I denied it being anything, as the day went on, I realized it was something.
Boss hadn't come out of his office all day, either. This was unusual, as he normally does a morning walk around to make sure we're all doing our work.
To everyone, his walk-arounds are the most petrifying parts of our day. You'd better hope boss doesn't find you doing something other than work.
I checked the clock, 12:15pm. Lunch was over, and it was time for me to go back.
I got out of the car, smoothing my pants and fixing my hair. I threw my salad in the garbage and walked back into the building.
Pressing the elevator button to go up, I felt myself becoming extremely nervous. I had never felt like this coming into work. My confidence has always been the best part about me.
Finally, the elevator dinged, it's doors opening for me to enter. I stepped in, pressing for floor 20.

I looked at myself in the reflection. I'll admit, I looked good. My black pencil skirt lined my curves perfectly, and the black off the shoulder shirt I was wearing fit my boobs perfectly. The black stilettos pulled the outfit together, though.
I slid my hands over my head, smoothing out the hairs leading to my mid-ponytail.
Just then, the doors opened, and I was finally back to the office. I walked to my desk, sitting down in the, at best, comfortable chair.
"Where were you for lunch?" Sebastian whispered. I looked up at him, pursing my lips. I didn't want to tell him he was upsetting me.
"I just needed to eat alone in my car. One of those days." I whispered back, shrugging my shoulders. Sebastian gave me a thumbs up, getting back to his work.
I looked at boss's door, seeing a silhouette of a women. I bit my lip, tapping my fingers on the desk. I shouldn't be bothered, but I was.
"Psst." I said, looking at Sebastian. He looked up, raising a brow.
Sebastian shrugged, he didn't know who the mystery woman was either. Boss must have brought her in during our lunch, so nobody could see.
I rolled my eyes, typing away at my computer. Boss's room was soundproof, so it was impossible for anyone to hear his meetings. At this moment, I cursed those sound proof walls.
"Bothered much?" One of my co-workers, Jordan, muttered as he walked by.
I kept my focus on my computer. "Couldn't care less." He chuckled, walking back to his desk.
I had one run-in with boss, and everybody was acting as though we were married. To say I was annoyed wasn't even the half of it.
Suddenly, the door opened. I kept my eyes pierced on the computer, I was afraid to move a single bone.
Out walked a woman, preen and put-together. She had long blonde hair, and from what I could see, one hell of an ass. Behind her came boss, leaning his hand on her back as he escorted her out.
The entire office went silent, and everybody's eyes were peeled on me. I kept my eyes locked on my computer, acting like I didn't even acknowledge what was going on.
"It was great seeing you." Boss said, giving her a kiss on the cheek before she got into the elevator.
We all heard the elevator doors close, and the footsteps of boss returning to his office. He walked around my co-workers desks, doing his daily walk-around that he hadn't today.
I looked up, faced with Sebastians eyes. I could tell he was nervous, and wondering how I was feeling.
I looked back down, cursing myself internally for today's events. I should've gotten out of that office the minute I had the chance to.
"Ms. Rayne, did you contact Marty's Cigar and Co for me like I asked for you to?" Boss said, leaning on the side of my desk.
I hadn't even noticed he was there, but as soon as he spoke it was as though my heart fell out of my ass and I forgot how to speak like a human.
"Yes, boss. They requested you call them whenever you get the chance to do so." I shaking said, but still holding my ground.
I handed him the pink sticky note with the information on it, our hands lightly grazing one another's. Chills were sent down my spine like earlier.
He smiled, showing off his perfectly straight teeth. "Ms. Rayne, meet me in my office before you leave for the day." He said before walking back into his office.
I gulped, knowing damn well everyone's eyes were on me. Fuck.
I got up, looking at Sebastian, signaling for him to follow me. He nodded, watching me walk to the break room.
"What the hell was that, Luna?" He said almost immediately as he walked into the room. My hands rested on my head, and I couldn't help but panic entirely.
I took a deep breath. "I don't know! What could he possibly want from me?"
Sebastian chuckled, sitting down in one of the chairs.
"You. Obviously he wants you."
"Bullshit. You saw the way he was with that woman, there's no shot. Maybe he's just buttering me up for when he fires me." I spoke angrily, walking back and forth in a panic.
Sebastian stood up, placing his hands on both of my shoulders, causing me to stop.
"Luna. Stop freaking out. Behind that smolder boss puts on, he's a nice guy. Just see what happens before you over think." He said, walking out of the break room and back to his desk, gathering his belongings.
I walked back to my own desk, getting looks from everyone I passed. I checked the clock, 5pm, it was time to leave.
I waited until everybody left the office, which took about fifteen minutes. Finally, I stood up, walking to boss's office doors. I grabbed the handle, slowing opening the door.
Almost immediately I was greeted with a pair of lips on mine. My eyes went wide, knowing it was boss's lips.
I didn't know what to do, if I should kiss back. I felt his arms snake around my waist, pushing me lightly against the wall. Finally, I decided to kiss back.
"You have no idea how long I've been yearning to do this, Luna Rayne."
