Permanight (Hiatus)

The world of Mecc has fallen into permanent night. Monsters roam the countryside, the sun refuses to rise, and towns and cities alike are falling into disarray. Their only hope is the ancient prophecy, which says a hero of light will emerge to save humanity in their darkest hour... 20 years from now. Too little, too late for those living now. In the midst of the the apocalypse, college student Oscar McAllister finds himself out of a job and out of luck. After accidentally ending up slaying a daemon on his way to get the groceries however, Oscar is haplessly drawn into the world of adventuring and questing, and with the old world falling apart - Oscar becomes one of the many tasked with trying to hold everything together. As he fights however, he is forced to face not just the evil that lurks in the shadows: but the indifference that lurks in people’s hearts. The world is playing a waiting game with human lives, and Oscar is caught right in the middle of it. Note: This is a dark LitRPG story, with dungeons, levelling, and quests in a contemporary setting. Permanight is currently on hiatus while I prepare a rewrite based on the current feedback I've recieved. I'm sorry for the bad news, but I want to bring the world to life in a way that feels real, and at the moment - I'm not entirely convinced that I'm doing that.

The Long Winter has ended. The Great Spirits are waking once more and their influence is already making a mark on the world. Enter Gord. The seventh son of the chief of the Ashwalkers, he's a bit of a disappointment. Not very tall, not very strong, not very fast. His brothers pick up his slack of course, they love him. But even they can't stop the whispers. Troubled by a power he doesn't understand, he finds refuge in the stories his grandfather tells, of apocalyptic wars between spirits and powerful shamans wielding the forces of nature. Of course, those are just stories of an age long past. The spirits are peaceful now, right? The Traveller from Afar

Lucas didn't know what he wanted, but it certainly wasn’t to get dragged into the middle of a another world. Too bad for him the universe had different plans and now he has to deal with the consequences of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. At least it isn't all bad, he gets to finally make use of those cooking lessons he was dragged into. Chapters 1-4 are kind of like a prologue, they are self contained and only give some background information for the rest of the story.*********This is my first attempt trying to write any type of longer form story so I have no idea if any thing I produce will be readable, I've tried to make sure I have a decent level of grammar and there are no spelling mistakes, but if you do find any please let me know. I am also from the home of tea and crumpets (the uk) so if there are some u's and s's your not used to seeing thats probably it. Uh I dont really know what else to put in a story description so just give it a shot and let me know what you think, any pointers would be greatly appeciated.

Alex Dcosta was your typical isekai protagonist who finds himself waking up in another world. He finds himself in the body of a young boy with totally badass powers. But soon his joyful moment last until he realizes in this new magical world, there was no internet and quickly succumbs to despair. He realized the fact that he won't be able to continue to watch his favorite anime series and falls in depression. Just when a mysterious being makes a contract who gives Alex back his smartphone from the earth realm. But there was a catch, to stream his favorite anime he needed internet but there was none in this fantasy world. Hence there was an app installed in the phone itself which had certain quest posted in it. If Alex was able to complete a certain quest from the app, he would be awarded internet data which he can utilize to stream his favorite anime. The difficult the quest, the bigger internet data. Join Alex, a hardcore weeb who transforms and bends this fantasy world to his hobbies. Also for some reason, the gods of that realm were out for Alex’s blood.
