both jennie and i went to living room and sat beside each other on the couch.
"did you guys decide on a place to live?" jennie asked, opening the lid of a face mask she just bought.
"yeah." i replied plainly.
"do you like the place?"
"yeah."
to compare this house with jungkook's, it's obviously very different. i'm sure his house is much more comfortable than here.
i suddenly remembered today's important occasion, about me meeting the famous novelist who is also going to be my neighbour soon.
"do you remember moon byul-yi's novel, 'happy now'? you read it too, after seeing me crying while reading it." i asked jennie.
"yeah, i do. why?" she nodded.
i smiled sheepishly.
"hehe, she's my next door neighbour."
"for real?" jennie shocked.
"yep." i nodded happily.
"are you happy? my mom's about to drag me back home." she sighed.
what with the sudden news?
"she wants you to come home?"
"she only let me move out because she knew i was moving in with you. why'd you have to go and get knocked up and stomp all over my freedom?"
huh?
"i'm sooo sorry i got pregnant. why don't you and taehyung just get married then?" i suggested. please stop blaming me, this is all because of you two too.
jennie froze before answering, "am i getting married alone? he hasn't proposed, so how can we get married?"
"you could just propose first. i never thought you'd be so caught up in formalities."
"shut up and lie down. i'm going to put this mask on you."
"don't change the subject, jen. are you not thinking about marriage with taehyung?"
there was a long pause from jennie's side.
"it's not like that. when it comes to taehyung, it's not that easy. i feel myself getting smaller and smaller and my self-esteem just sinking. i feel like i'm not myself when i'm with him." she said, open up a story that she has been hiding for a long time.
i gently patted her back.
"jennie, be confident in yourself. taehyung loves you more than you think. as a close friend, i know this." i reassured her to calm her down.
she looked at me, in the verge of crying.
"chae..."
"don't cry though. you'll make me cry too."
"ah, you look ugly when you cry. so i gotta stop." she sniffled, wiping away her formed tears.
i smiled at her joke.
i'm glad to have jennie as my best friend.
i know we bicker a lot sometimes, but in the end, we still find each other's comfort when something happens.
"so what do you think about your baby's father?" jennie asked after she applied a generous amount of clay mask on my face.
"well, he's good-looking, capable, responsible..he's definitely not lacking in any way." i honestly said while laying down and closing my eyes.
"will you really be all right?"
"what?"
"marrying without love."
my eyes snapped open after hearing what she said.
i slowly sighed.
"i do like him. he's a good man. he's not excessively cold like my mom, and he's not excessively passionate like my dad. that's why i like him. we'll be all right." i told her.
we'll be all right, i guess.
"chae, we'll still be the closest of friends even after you get married, right?"
haha, what kind of question is that?
"well, it's not like we were the closest befo-"
before i could finish my joke, i got a gentle smacked on my head from jennie.
ack!
"then who is you closest friend?" jennie asked furiously.
i sat up from lying down and rubbed the part that was smacked by her earlier.
"ah, i was just kidding." i laughed.
"so we are the closest then?" she asked once again. her face was a bit red this time, feeling embarrass with her action just now.
"maybe?"
jennie abruptly looked at me and shouted, "hey, i'm being serious right now!"
"haha, fine. yes, you are. you happy now?"
i will always remember the times when we both bickering at each other nonstop.
-
today is the day everyone is waiting for, our wedding day.
the atmosphere here is very lively.
i like it here. it feels like everyone here is celebrating us both.
but, these aunts of jungkook in front of me..
"i never knew jungkook had it in him!"
"what are you saying? jungkook was always handsome even as a baby."
"haha, yes. that's right! his tushie was so cute. it's a shame he didn't share it with anyone until now."
"i can't believe you're saying this in front of the bride! stop teasing her!"
"i had no idea he was hiding such a beautiful woman from us!"
"aren't you all curious though? don't you think he plans out all his dates, too? probably in increments of five minutes? like for the dinner and drive home?"
"hehehe, can you share details with your aunties?"
"stop it! how could you ask her that? she's blushing now!"
ah, what are they even talking about? i understood nothing.
i was just sat there, smiling like a fool to ease the awkwardness in me.
they just kept blabbering something that i wished i can escape from it.
"you're not thinking! if he planned everything out, do you think he would've gotten her pregnant before the wedding?"
"this means our jungkook has totally fallen for her. he just jumped in without any planning. isn't that right?"
"yes, yes, that's right! he must've fallen hard! i almost didn't recognise jungkook today because he was grinning so hard."
"yeah, i know! i thought my old eyes were deceiving me, so i took a picture!"
one of the aunts showing a picture of jungkook that she took using her phone.
wow, he is definitely so handsome.
i didn't get to see him yet after we got dressed and ready for the wedding.
i prayed he can come here and save me from his talkative aunts.
the aunt then shoved the phone beside my face to see the compatibility.
"oh, oh! i should've taken some pictures, too! can you send that to me? i want it!"
"our jungkook looks even better in photos. look, look! don't they look good together?"
"hehe, yes. they're quite the match!"
haha, what should i do now?
"ladies, that's enough! come out!"
all the aunts suddenly stopped blabbering and turned around, just to see jungkook's mother getting furious because they were disturbing me.
"but we're not done talking!"
"get out! sorry about that, se-aga!" jungkook's mother shoved them out from the bride's room and apologised to me.
and after they went away, all the other guests were taking turns to see me too.
jungkook's female maternal cousins, my relatives, teachers, students, college friends and other acquaintances are making me so exhausted.
i sighed heavily when the room is empty with people.
the ceremony hasn't even happened yet and i'm already exhausted.
i know i shouldn't be like this because they came here to celebrate and congratulate us. but, i can't help it!
i closed my eyes for a while and leaning on the chair.
my eyes slowly opened when i heard a knock on the door and someone i knew very well entered.
"what the-? taehyung? where were you? you mom stopped by to see me way earlier. jennie went to look for y-" i unbelievably asked and blabbered to him.
he walked towards me and suddenly squeezed me in a friendly hug.
"you're all grown up now..getting married.." taehyung said.
why is he so emotional today?
"hey.." is he trying to make me cry as well?
"it seems only yesterday when you couldn't cry as a little girl.."
"what's wrong with you? why are you acting like my dad? you're talking like you raised me." i jokingly said.
he let me go from a tight hug and said, "live well. you have to be happy. if you're having a hard time, you know what to do, right? just let this oppa right here know."
"oppa? hah, never in my life." i playfully scoffed.
"do you understand me or not?!"
i laughed at his childish behaviour.
"yes, yes. i got you. this is so unlike you. did you secretly cry? i-"
before i could finish, someone interrupted our conversation, "step away from her. i know you're here to congratulate her, but you're standing too close."
he is non other than jeon jungkook!
he stood there and both of them kept glaring at each other.
"i'm actually cutting my congrats short by a lot. if you make her cry, i'll make you regret it." taehyung suddenly said.
"if you touch my wife again, i'll make you regret it." jungkook furiously replied.
what the-?
what is these two even doing right now?
they just can't stop breaking the eye contact.
but taehyung suddenly cleared his throat and held out his hand.
"i hope you make chaeyoung happy, jungkook."
"the first step is marriage."
"i'll go find my seat now. see you in the hall!"
"ah, okay."
with that, taehyung left both jungkook and i alone in this room and closed the door shut.
"shouldn't you be greeting the guests?" i asked jungkook.
gosh, he looked so breathtaking.
"i left that to jimin for a little while. how are you holding up?" he asked.
"i'm fine. it's just a bit hectic."
"my aunts and cousins came by, didn't they? i told jimin to block them, but i guess he couldn't hold them back."
i laughed at his statement.
"it was fun. they're all perky and jolly."
yeah, that's the correct words i should use.
jungkook put one of his hand on the chair and leaning closer to me.
"i probably shouldn't kiss you now, right?"
"what?" i'm definitely is a blushing mess right now.
"wedding are terrible. i feel like my patience is being tested. they keep hiding my bride from me.."
i smiled.
"are you grumbling?"
"yes, i don't like that i have to sneak around to see my bride."
he moved closer and kiss me on the cheek.
huh?!
"just hold on for a little bit longer. i told them to shorten the ceremony as much as possible."
he is the one who should hold on for a little bit longer, not me!
"by the way, you look so beautiful today." he whispered.
i smiled, looking at him shyly.
ah, he is making my heart flutter again.
is he blushing too?
suddenly, someone knocked on the door and before jungkook and i could see who entered the room, a pink-haired woman ran towards jungkook and hugged him tightly.
"oppa, it's been a long time! did you miss me?" she called out.
jungkook looked a bit shocked, same goes to me.
"what are you d-?!" he was about to burst and let go from the hug after seeing her face.
"so you're getting married? congrats!" she happily said.
who is she by the way? why did jungkook never mention her before?
"you...chou tzuyu.."
