《Troubled With Tattoos》024: Faking Pregnancies

"Ya know, you're getting better at this." Austin chirped watching me drive. He had his hands behind his head as he leaned against the window. We had been visiting Cam everyday since, he was due to be released soon.

"You think so?" I blushed as I attempted to keep my eyes on the road. I kept glancing into my mirrors concerned at the fact that the same car has been behind us for a while. I had wondered if he noticed.

"I know so." He smiled. I swear butterflies still swarmed my stomach every time he smiled. I couldn't help but smile back until I remembered we were possibly being followed.

"This car's been behind us since we started," I said worriedly. At first, I thought it was just convenient but now we're in the middle of nowhere and they're still behind us. Austin quickly glanced out the mirror running his hand through his hair.

"Shit," Austin cursed, "Go faster." I pressed harder on the pedal. He sat up straight and kept glancing out the window. I had no idea where I was. I was going seventy-five on a forty-five limit.

"Faster." He said again looking behind us. I couldn't concentrate with him being so close to me and under the pressure of being followed. My heart started to race as I worried.

"I can't," I admitted. I was slightly embarrassed at the fact that I wasn't comfortable going faster.

"Okay, move." My eyes bugged out of my head at his words. Move? As in out of this seat? As I'm driving?

"What? I can't do that, I'm driving!" I panicked. I was nervous and probably looked like an idiot.

"Violet you have no choice. Cash is behind us and we need to lose them." He nearly yelled. I flinched at his tone slowly removing my foot from the pedal. As soon as it was gone it was replaced with his. I flopped over to the passenger seat as the car swerved left. Austin plopped down and controlled his car. I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding as he sped up. He took random turns nearly causing us to flip over on some.

He sped off for what seemed like an eternity but in reality, was maybe ten minutes but when you're being chased each minute felt like hours.

"I think we lost them." He said. I sighed in relief relaxing against the window. The long, narrow, empty road wasn't as empty as we thought.

The sirens blasted from far behind us as Austin slowed down. He did the unthinkable lifting his hoodie up over his head. Part of his shirt lifted up showing his bare skin as he maneuvered his way around the road.

"What are you doing?" I squeezed my eyes shut, even though my eyes were begging me to open them. I didn't forget the fact that he could take off his hoodie in less than a second. He rolled his sweatshirt into a messy ball.

"Put this under your shirt," he said throwing it at me. It landed on my head messing up my hair a bit. I eyed him as I shoved it awkwardly under my shirt. I looked like I had a deformed baby in my stomach.

"Why is your hoodie under my shirt?" I asked.

"You're pregnant, okay? When I give you the signal you gotta make the best labor pain noises ever." He muttered as he pulled to a complete stop. His fingers wrapped around the water bottle that sat in his cup holder. Suddenly he lifted it and before I knew it I had water trickling down my cheeks and my sweatshirt was soaked.

"It'll make it more believable." He smiled innocently at me. I shot him a look that said I'd pay him back for that later. I gulped as the officer hopped out of his patrol car and reached Austins car.

"License and registration please." The officer asked. He had thin-framed glasses that rested on his large nose. His eyes were so brown they looked almost black. My hands were shaking while Austin was calm and collected. How did he do that? He handed the officer his license and registration. Austin gave me a quick glance which I took as the signal. I lay my hand on my damp forehead as if I was sweating and groaned using the other hand to hold my lumpy sweatshirt baby.

"Do you have any idea how fast you were driving?" The officer asked glancing at me. My heart was racing just like Austin's car was just two seconds ago.

"I'm sorry sir, you see my girlfriend's in labor and we need to get to the hospital as soon as possible," Austin said sounding worried. This was the second time this week I was someones fake girlfriend. The officer looked at me as I continued making painful noises, I was so nervous I started to actually sweat.

"Well congratulations, I can escort you if you'd like." He offered.

"Oh no, we will be fine, thank you for the offer that is very kind of you sir," Austin smiled.

"Are you sure, I can get you there much quicker." He said before his walkie talkie beeped.

"Thank you but we'll be fine." Austin bargained. The officer nodded before answering his radio.

"Keep it under ninety!" He smiled walking back to his cruiser. Austin took off slowly at first until the cruiser was out of sight.

"Damn, I can't believe he fell for that. I thought for sure he'd recognize me." He chuckled picking up speed. I smiled pulling the sweatshirt out of my shirt.

"That was possibly the lumpiest baby belly ever." I laughed.

"You sounded like an elephant having an orgasm." he chuckled. I blushed deeply.

"Is that a fat joke?" I fake gasped. He smiled shaking his head.

"Violet, you're one of kind," he said turning onto a familiar road. My phone buzzed from my pocket. I took it out reading the message from Lizzie.

Hey! Any chance you could meet me at the mall?

I typed back a 'yes' along with a 'why,". I waited a few seconds for the next reply.

We're going shopping.

I smiled reading her message. I peeked over at Austin who looked incredibly amazing as usual. The way his jaw set as he was in thought and how his arm veins stuck out like a sore thumb.

"Can you drop me off at the mall? Lizzie wants to go shopping." I asked.

"Sure, I gotta go check up on Camden anyway," he said. I frowned realizing I would much rather visit Cam but I already told Lizzie I would go. He pulled into the mall entrance which was closer than I thought. I didn't want to leave Austin but I wasn't going to ditch Lizzie.

"Thanks. I'll see you later." I said opening up the door to leave. I was about to step out when Austin placed his hand on my thigh.

"Wait," he said. I turned back towards him my heart was fluttering. He moved closer to me, his face just mere inches from mine. Was he going to kiss me finally? Nothing was going to stop us now. I smiled closing my eyes waiting for it. I could only imagine how his lips would feel on mine. I bet there soft and so talented.

But then I felt his lips near my ear, his cheek nearly grazing mine.

"You look cute," he smiled pulling back. I frowned immediately my heart sinking into my chest. I plastered a fake smile on my face saying thank you before I left the car for real this time. Well, at least he called me cute. I couldn't help but still feel slightly disappointed at the fact that we had the perfect chance to kiss and he didn't go for it. Did he not want to kiss me anymore? Did he ever want to? Oh god, I'm so overthinking this.

I walked into the entrance finding Lizzie standing there waiting for me. She was wearing a knee-length skirt with a jean jacket and a scarf.

"That was quick," she said.

"So what are we shopping for?" I asked her as we began to walk.

"Spring formal, duh." She laughed. We walked past a few stores until we arrived at an expensive-looking boutique.

"Let's try here, this is my favorite store. Wait for me, I'm just going to go to the bathroom real quick," she said walking to the closest bathroom. I waited patiently on the bench in front of the store. Camden had entered my mind and I had hoped he was feeling better. I still blamed myself for his injury. I had just sat down when a pair of hands covered my eyes.

"Guess who?" the familiar voice chuckled. I smiled turning my head to see Cam.

"Cam, what are you doing here?" I asked him. He shrugged his injured shoulder and then winced as he sat next to me on the bench.

"Let's see I could sit at Austin's house all lonely or I could have hot woman sympathizing my injuries," he smirked. He wrapped his unhurt arm around my shoulder pulling me close. He was always so warm and inviting.

"Are you alone?" he winked. Didn't Austin say he was going to check on him?

"I'm with Liz, we're going dress shopping," I said.

"There's a 100% off sale at my house." Cam snickered.

"You better go before she sees you." I chuckled. I really didn't want to ruin my day with Liz.

"Yeah you're right, wouldn't want mall security chasing me...again." He groaned standing up.

"Okay, now that's a story I've got to hear," I grinned.

"I'll tell you later when you're in my bed." he winked walking away. That boy is something else. Lizzie came out of the bathroom just in time as he was too far to determine it was even him.

"So how are you and Cash?" I asked her looking through the rack of dresses. Nothing had caught my eye just yet.

"Actually, we're doing pretty good, I was thinking we could go on a double date. You know me, you, Cash and Austin?" she said putting a few dresses over her arm. I couldn't tell her the boys secret and that meant I couldn't tell her about Cash.

"Austin and I aren't dating," I mumbled.

"Still? Girl, you better hop on that on that before Kara does." She put her free hand on her hip.

"I thought we were going in the right direction and then today I thought he was going to kiss me and instead he told me I was cute." I sighed.

"He called you cute, that's good." She sounded as if she was pretending that wasn't friend-zoned at all. She grabbed a few dresses flopping them over her arm.

"Cute is what you call a puppy or a baby." I sighed again. I flicked through the racks of short cocktail dresses.

"Maybe he wants you to make the first move." Lizzie shrugged. Before she told me he was 'incapable of love', I pondered why her mindset suddenly changed.

"Do you lady's need any help with anything?" A worker questioned. She smiled politely as she tugged on the measuring tape around her neck.

"Could we maybe try on a few things?" Lizzie asked.

"Of course, follow me, girls," she said leading us to the dressing rooms. I looked down at my empty hands realizing I hadn't found anything I liked enough to try on. I guess I got too caught up in the Austin talk. Lizzie suggested to make the first move and I debated with myself on whether or not I had enough courage to do so.

"Oh girl, yellow does not go with your skin tone whatsoever, try these." She chuckled handing me a pile of more dresses. I have a pretty pale complexion and I could see why the yellow doesn't go well. I looked down at the pile in my arm filled with every color. White would make me look even paler and orange looks weird on me. I came across a decent pink dress.

I stepped out of the dressing room wearing the pink, one-shoulder strapped dress. It hugged my body but had way too many sequins for me. Lizzie scrunched up her face examining me.

"Next." She sat back down. I rolled my eyes going back into the room, none of these really caught my eye.

"Lizzie, these are hideous!" I called out. I could hear her sighing.

"Try the green one!" She yelled back. The green dress was silky and kind of cute, it would've been cuter if it didn't resemble the color of puke. I walked out of the dressing room wearing the puke dress.

"I look like walking throw up." I stopped talking as soon as I caught sight of a perfect baby blue dress across the store. My legs managed to wander over to the rack it was displayed on. It was pale blue with gems all around the top. It was flowy and simply gorgeous.

I searched the rack to find every number except five. This can't possibly be happening. I can't just fall in love with this dress and not be able to take it home.

"Do you have this dress in a size five?" I asked the worker that was tidying up the racks two aisles over.

"Check the rack in the front of the store." She said while pointing to the rack with the same blue dresses.

Lizzie raced over there and gleamed when she found a size five, as she grabbed the dress so did another teen. Lizzie looked up to find Kara also taking the dress. Soon it became tug of war over the last size 5.

"I saw it first." Kara argued. Lizzie was about the argue but I stopped her. I didn't want her to win this argument. If I got the dress I would just be thinking about Kara the whole time I wore it.

"Liz, its fine we'll find a better one." I said. Lizzie eyed me before releasing her claws. Kara grinned flipping her hair over her shoulder and she stormed off to the cash register.

"I don't want to be caught dead in a dress she likes." I said. I also didn't want to be involved in any more drama.

"I hope you're free tonight because we have plans." She grinned once again.
