Everything is dark, but I can faintly hear people talking.

I tried opening my eyes and moving, but I just can't. My body won't let me.

"It's all your fault" I hear a voice say.

"I know! It should've been me! I should've been the one to get shot!" Another voice said.

Shot? Wait.. Who got shot? Oh wait.. I remember now.

"I want you to stay away from my daughter!" I'm guessing my dad said.

"I love her!" The other voice said.

"I don't care! You will not see my daughter! You and your gang are trouble and I don't want you to get my daughter hurt." My dad said.

"I'd never hurt her! I can protect her"

"Like you protected her from getting shot?!" Dad yelled.

"I tried! Okay! I did.." The other voice said.

"I want you gone" dad said to whoever he is arguing with.

"Can I have a minute to at least say goodbye?" The voice asks.

"Fine" my dad says before I hear a door close.

Someone grabbed my hand and put their forehead against it. "Anastasia, I knew you were different when you first talked back to me. I knew you weren't just a nerd. The time I took you on a date, was probably one of the best days of my life. I like you.. I really, really like you. Maybe even more.. Your dad hates me, because we are enemies, but I don't care."

I felt some tears fall onto my hand. "I love you.. But you probably can't hear me.. Goodbye." The guy said and let my hand go.

I tried everything I could to move or make a sound, but even then my body wouldn't move.

I heard people coming and going into my room after that.

A few hours have went by and I heard my parents talking to the doctor when I finally moved my fingers.

"Ana! Ana can you hear me?" Someone asked as I groaned.

I slowly opened my eyes only to close them again because it was too bright.

A few seconds later, I tried again and was able to open my eyes completely.

I saw both of my parents, my little brother, and a doctor.

"Hi Anastasia, I'm doctor Ross. Do you remember what happened?" He asked taking out a pen.

"Yes.." I started to say, but my throat was too dry.

"Oh! Here's some water sweetie." My mom said giving me some water.

I drank almost the whole cup before I spoke again. "Yes, I remember what happened."

"Can you tell us what you remember?" The doctor asked.

"I was walking in an ally to get to my motorcycle when three guys with guns circled me. I knocked one of them out, but the other two grabbed me and tried to rape me. Ryder came and helped me. We fought them off but the other guy I knocked out from earlier aimed a gun at Ryder, so I ran and pushed him out of the way and got myself shot. Now I'm here" I said.

"Okay, we are going to need to do some tests and you can leave in a couple days." The doctor said.

"Thank you" my parents said as he left.

"How long have I been out?" I asked my parents sitting up slightly.

"3 weeks" mom sighed.

"Wow, I didn't think I was out that long." I said, then thought of Ryder because he was there too.

"Is Ryder ok? Where is he?" I asked.

"He's fine and we told him to leave." My dad said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because your not safe with him."

"I'm not safe doing anything else either!" I yelled startling my dad.

"He can't protect you like I can Ana!" He said.

"I don't need protection! I'm not a baby anymore!"

"You do need protection or else you wouldn't have been shot!" He yelled.

"I'm the one who pushed Ryder out of the way! It was going to be him not me! But I CHOSE to save him."

"Did you know that you flatlined for 5 minutes! Your heart stopped beating for 5 damn minutes! They said you were dead and it's a fucking miracle you even woke up!" He yelled.

"Vincent calm down.." My mom said.

"No. Take Kai out of the room."

My mom sighed, but obliged. "It would have been better if he was the one who got shot!" Dad yelled.

"Just because he is your enemy doesn't mean he's a bad person dad!"

"I forbid you from seeing him!"

"You can't do that!!" I yelled.

"I can and I will!" He said and turned about to walk out.

"I HATE YOU" I yelled as the door closed.

I tried to sit up more, but the pain in my stomach was too much.

*KNOCK* *KNOCK*

"Come in" I said to whoever was knocking, but I definitely wasn't expecting to see Kendall.

"Hey.." He said looking down.

"Hey, I'm not going to bite." I said gesturing for him to sit in the chair near me.

He sat down and put his head in his hands, shaking his head. "I'm so sorry"

"It's ok" I said.

"No, it's not ok.. I hurt you and you shouldn't forgive me for what I did." He said looking up.

"Then why don't you explain why you did it and maybe all will be forgiven." I said remembering his talk with Sydnie.

"You won't believe me." He shook his head.

"Try me" I said.

He took a deep breath. "Okay"

So Kendall went on and explained everything to me and why he did what he did. I understand now.

Kendall's dad was working for Sydnie's dad, but he was also going through a rough time.

His dad started drinking and Kendall was always taking care of him. If his dad lost his job, he would lose everything including Kendall.

"I'm so so sorry" Kendall said with tears falling down his cheeks.

"It's ok.. I believe you" I said wiping away his tears.

"Y-you do?"

"I do." I said and he smiled.

"But why? After all I said and did to you.."

"Because I heard your argument with Sydnie at the bottom of the stairs the day I got shot. I didn't know if you were talking about me, but I know now." I said smiling slightly.

"Friends?" He asks looking at me.

"Best friends" I say smiling.

"Hey, what did you mean when you said that you didn't have much time to tell me all of this?" I asked him and his smile turned into a frown.

"I'll tell you later." He said.

"Can't you tell me now?"

"You will find out sooner or later."

"Okay." I sigh.

"I've got to go now, I'll come back later" he says getting up and kissing my forehead.

"Feel better Ana" he says before he walks to the door.

"Bye" I say as the door opens and a nurse walks in, but she isn't my nurse.

"Mr. Hart, are you done? We need to start your chemotherapy." She says looking at Kendall.

I just stare at him in shock as he glances at me with a sad look.

"You have cancer..."
