"Ugh!" I groan, hitting my alarm until it turns off.
"Why does my face hurt so bad?" I said to myself as I got up from bed to get ready for school.
"Oh god" I mumbled when I looked into the mirror.
I looked terrible. I had a huge bruise on my jaw that I will barely be able to cover with concealer, a smaller bruise on my cheek, and some bruises on my ribs.
"Oh well.." I thought and started getting ready for school.
I did my hair and makeup and tried to cover my bruise as best as I could, but that didn't really do anything.
I changed into a big black hoodie, some baggy jeans and my sneakers, then made my way downstairs.
"Morning mom" I said when I entered the kitchen.
"Morning sweetie"
"Are you coming home late again?" I asked and grabbed a muffin to eat on the way to school.
"Yea, so can u pick up Kai today around 5?"
"Sure mom, bye!" I said as I headed out the door to start heading to school.
Luckily when I got to school, nobody was paying any attention to me because they were rushing to class.
As I was walking through the halls I was trying to keep my head down, so not many people notice me and it worked.
First period already started, so when I opened the door to my class everyone turned towards me.
I just put my head down and walked to the back of the class to sit down.
As I was walking someone stuck their foot out in an attempt to trip me, but I saw it and stepped over it.
Everyone was still looking at me, but at least I still had my hood covering most of my face.
"Ms. Stone, no hoods allowed" The teacher said.
"I need it"
"No you don't, now take it off"
"I can't take it off" I replied.
"Detention for disobeying the rules and take it off this second"
"Bu.." I started to say before he cut me off.
"Two detentions! Do you want to make it three?" He said loudly.

"No, but I can't take off my hood"
"Fine! You have a weeks detention! And if you don't take off your hood, I will send you to the principle!" He yelled.
"Fine" I sighed and pulled off my hood.
The gasps throughout the class, could probably be heard all the way from China.
The gossip was already going around about what happened to the nerd. And blah..blah..blah.
"People are so annoying." I thought as I was taking notes on whatever the teacher was talking about.
I honestly don't need to come to school because I have enough credits to graduate, but my parents want me to finish at least junior year in a real school. That's why I'm in senior classes and am going to graduate with them.
*RING* *RING*
Finally the bell rang! I got up and headed to PE. I changed in the bathrooms like before and headed to the gym.
I kept my hood on though. When I got to class the teacher just started taking role, so I sat in the back and waited.
"TODAY WE ARE DOING SELF DEFENSE LESSONS" My PE teacher said.
"I AM GOING TO HAVE EVERYONE SPAR WITH SOMEONE OF THE OPPOSITE GENDER BECAUSE IT IS A BETTER WAY TO TEST EVERYONES STRENGTH, WE NEED TWO VOLUNTEERS"
"HOW ABOUT MR. GONZALEZ, SINCE HE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE STRONGEST "
"Ya right!" I thought and snorted quietly.
"DO YOU NOT AGREE? MS. STONE" My teacher said, he probably heard me snort.
"Oh.. Um"
"WHY DON'T YOU COME SPAR WITH RYDER?" He said and I just looked at a smirking Ryder in the middle of the gym.
"u-um.. No t-thank y-you" I fake stuttered because I really don't want to fight Ryder.. I may not be able to hold back my anger if he punches hard.
"OH NO, COME DOWN AND SPAR WITH HIM SINCE YOU DON'T BELIEVE HE IS ONE OF THE STRONGEST" he said smirking.
"Oh god. Do all the teachers hate me or something?" I thought as I walked to the middle.
Ok Ana, stay focused and don't get to angry or else our secret could be ruined.

"OKAY, SO JUST TRY TO PUNCH AND THE OTHERS BLOCK THEN A HEADLOCK. WHOEVER STAYS DOWN FOR TEN SECONDS LOSES. NOW GET READY!" He said as we both got into a fighting stance.
*RING*
He blew the whistle and right away I felt a punch in my already throbbing jaw making me hiss in pain and fall.
"Ok that's it, I'm not going easy." I think to myself as he tries to get me into a headlock.
I grab his arm before it reaches me and twist it behind his back, then shove him forward so that I can get into a good fighting stance and he does the same.
Ryder didn't look too shocked, but that's probably because I beat him up before when he pulled me into a dark classroom.
He throws a right hook but I easily block it and throw an upper cut to his jaw.
When I look at him all I see are mixed emotions. He seems shocked, impressed, then angry.
He makes another move to punch me but I quickly grab his arm and put him in a headlock.
He gets out of it better than I thought he could and punches me right in my bruised ribs making me stumble, but I quickly gain my balance again.
He threw a left hook when I stumbled and I tried to block it, but wasn't fast enough.
Then before he can make another move on me I try to jab him, but he blocks and pulls me into a headlock.
I was in that for about four seconds before I did a back flip making him lose his grip on me and fall to the ground, while I landed on my feet.
I went on top of him and put him into a headlock.
"10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1.. AND ANASTASIA WON! OKAY, SO NOW EVERYONE IM GOING TO PARTNER YOU UP!"
He announced all of the partners and told me and Ryder that we would be partners.
Once everyone found their partner they all went to the center of the gym to spar.
I looked over at Ryder and saw that he was studying me.
*RING*
Right when the whistle was blown the coach yelled, "GO".
Ryder and I got into position and started circling each other, it seemed like he was almost putting the pieces together and can't let that happen.
I threw a left hook to his side to distract him. I don't think it worked well, but at least it hurt a bit, because he hissed in pain.
"How did you learn to fight nerd?" He asked rubbing his jaw.
"I told you before, I took self defense lessons."
"I don't think that's where you learned everything." He said.
"That's because it's not."
"Then where?" He asked trying to punch me, but I easily dodged it.
"My dad was in the military, he also showed me how to fight." I said trying to uppercut him, but he blocked and jabbed me in my stomach.
"There's something off about you"
"No there's not" I said as I got him in a headlock.
"I don't believe you're a nerd." He says as he flipped us around getting me into a headlock.
"Well I am." I said as I got out and got him back into one.
"...3..2..1.. I won" I whispered into his ear as I let him go.
"I know you are hiding something.." He said close to my ear, but I cut him off before he could finish his sentence.
"No I'm not" I replied
".. And I plan on finding out what it is." He finished and started to walk away.
When he was leaving I looked around the gym and noticed that nobody was sparing, but was staring at me and him.
"Oh god, the whole school knows I can fight now. This is bad, really bad." I thought and left the gym because class was dismissed.

While the first two protagonists appear in quite the beginning, the third will take his time, taking some stroll in the Districts of Arkanoth while we focus on the story of the hunter. But that does not lessen his importance in the story a bit, trust me. What about these three heroes, you say? Well, they all have their own issues, from their character to their torments, and as the story progresses they will have to come clean with their past (character development is to be expected) and will find their reason for fighting, braving all odds. I draw my inspiration from mythology, more precisely Aztec mythology. I want to stay true to a certain extent about it and all the relations between the gods and their role, however I will still change some things to my liking, so do not expect for all of the mythology to be respected to the letter. Finally! I have to say English is a foreign langage for me, so I might not choose the best words or straight-up miswrite something, if it bothers your experience, just tell me in the comments and I'll look into it! It is also my first time writing a book, so some parts might seem sloppy, but I hope I will be able to improve throughout this journey so as to give the most enjoyable reading experience to you. // Who might enjoy this story: Firstly, if you like deep lore and stories in which past plays a big role, you will like how everything unravels to show the hidden truths of the world. However if you do not appreciate not instantly understanding what's happening or who - or even what - this person might be, then you might not appreciate the story. There will be disturbing and gore descriptions, so if you're sensitive, don't like reading about someone being beheaded and such, you should probably pass this one. There is strong langage, although I won't abuse it, I won't be lying saying no insults will appear. Finally, the heroes will not always win, they will sometime lose battles, be it important ones or unimportant, and they will, most of the time, not come out unscathed from those. // Time Schedule : once every two sundays at 7:pm Ps : feel free to tell me if something is bad, or feel wrong with the book, it really helps me. I've written till' chapter 4 (in my mother tongue, so I'll still have to translate), however I'll make some minor and major changes, thus it will take some time to post them.
