《Haikyuu!! x Male reader one-shots》- Kai Nobuyuki -

Kai gently stepped off the bus as some of the other idiots on the Nekoma volleyball team, not stepped, jumped off the bus. Yamamoto followed suit, and fell flat on his face. What a shame. Kai shook his head at the idiocy as he and Yaku, some of the only sensible people in the volleyball club, walked away. They followed their coach to the Karasuno volleyball gym, but entered the badminton gym instead.
"Uh-" Nekomata muttered.
"Oh! Are you guys the photography club?!" a boy with short, dark blond hair asked.
"Huh?" Yaku asked.
"No, Kazuhiko. They're clearly not from our school, did you even see their uniforms? It says in plain big text "NEKOMA." they're from the cat school, and they have a game with the volleyball team." a boy with (h/l) (h/c) hair said. "I apologize about my teammate here, he's not the brightest match in the pack. You're here for the volleyball team, correct?"
"Uh, yes." Kai answered.
"Great! I'll take you there." he said.
So, Nekomata, Kai, Yaku, and the rest of the Nekoma volleyball team followed the mysterious male to the volleyball gym.
"Here it is! The volleyball gym. Ever since coach Ukai retired, the school moved their gym here because it had a bigger ceiling." the boy said. "Welp, I gotta go back to my team now. See you!"
Before he could leave, Kai grabbed his wrist when nobody was looking.
"Wait, what's your name?" asked the Nekoma volleyball team's vice captain. "Mine is Kai Nobuyuki."
The boy smiled. "(L/n) (Y/n)."
That was the beginning of their bond. The two had a nice talk for a bit before Kuroo called Kai to the gym. Before Kai went back, however, the two traded numbers, and stayed in touch. They really enjoyed each other's company, and the fact that they can rant about each other's team.

"Kai, you will not believe what Kazuhiko did today. Yesterday we were walking down the street, and suddenly he was all pissed. I asked him why he was pissed and apparently he was mad that a dude from another school had girls all over him, including his crush, a girl named Michimiya. I told him it was because he was a pretty boy who was good at volleyball, and this dumbass went 'I'll try volleyball to impress Michimiya'. And he did... except he tried to spike with our badminton net, but went right into the net. I don't even know how that happened. Well, Michimiya, who he invited over to watch, laughed in his face, the coach and I spent the whole practice untangling Kazu from the net, and now the girl's volleyball team thinks we're a joke here in the badminton club."
That was a story that had tightened their bond. They started ranting to each other about the team idiots but also maintaining to ask each other about their hobbies, interests, homework, school and such. They really had a soft spot for each other which they kept to themselves. This turned out to be a crush, and a crush turned into full on love. One long and tiring day for Kai, however, changed their relationship forever.
Kai just came back home at 6 pm after a long, soul deadening, gut wrecking, brain damaging, and tiring day. To say he was craving affection and a complaining buddy could not be more accurate. He wanted, no, needed (Y/n) to shower him with love and kisses while he ranted to him about how god awful his day was. But although he couldn't have the love shower, he could have the rant. He opened his phone to message (Y/n) but said male already messaged him.

(Y/n)
Hey Kai! I'm in Yokohama for a few nights and there's firework festivals!
I was wondering if you want to come over for tonight and watch the festival with me. The festival is in (location) if you wanna come!
Kai
Sure. I'll take the train there, I'll be there in around an hour or so.
So, with that, Kai rushed to take a shower, get dressed, and ran to the station to take the train to Yokohama, and in 48 minutes he arrived to the location that (Y/n) had given him and with a bit of texting he found (Y/n) at a cotton candy stand.
"Hey Kai!" (Y/n) greeted.
"Hey (Y/n)!" Kai greeted back.
With a bit of resting for Kai's breath's sake, he and (Y/n) wandered around the festival, buying snacks and souvenirs alike. Luckily Kai had brought his wallet as well, and didn't leave it in his bedroom with his bags. The two had decided to go up to the hills and enjoyed the firework show there.
"Hm, we're almost graduating, it's crazy." (Y/n) suddenly commented.
"I know, right? It felt like yesterday when we were first years." Kai replied.
"Yeah. Then we'll be off to college and have jobs and a family..." (Y/n) laughed. "Speaking of which, do you think we'll bring our families to meet, and bond and whatnot?"
"Not if we are the family..."
"What does that mean?"
"It means I'm in love with you."
(Y/n) stared in awe at Kai as he confessed his love to him.
"Well, in that case, I love you too."
Kai smiled. Everything seemed to pause for a second as the two's lips met each other's. Suddenly, fireworks exploded in the sky, as if congratulating them for finally stopping pining over each other.
