《Gone Boy》5

They did it. After four months of torture Izuku Midoriya had begun the healing process and was in relatively stable condition. Nonetheless, no one was even allowed in the room other than the doctors.

It was too risky.

Even though the boy was in stable condition, he had still yet to wake up. And that in itself was worrisome.

Classes were not the same at 1-A. Not in the least bit. Not even Bakugo was as rowdy as usual. Uraraka stopped eating as much, her bubbly personality dulled. Sato stopped sitting up in class and every day Aizawa would see him lying on the desk, arms wrapped around his head.... Kaminari had stopped making as many mistakes on his homework, deciding to drown himself in school. Like an uno reverse card, Iida could not focus enough to think much less work in class. Todoroki looked worse off than his pre-Midoriya era. The heterochromatic boy couldn't even look anyone in the eyes. Mina was slow to react to anything, and walked away from all potential dance battles that had started. To Kirishima, nothing was manly enough. In fact, he didn't feel like he could even be called manly ever again. Everyone in 1-A was mourning in one way or the other.

It isn't like the greenette was dead...just unresponsive.

Practically dead is still not dead. At least that was what Bakugo was telling himself.

He has yet to try and visit his childhood friend for a few reasons.

1) He would probably be told that no visitors were allowed.

2) There would be no point if the nerd wasn't even awake.

3) Guilt. For everything. For holding the nerd back. For telling him to take a swan dive. For pushing him away repeatedly. For rubbing all his easy victories to his friend who fought tooth and nail to be a hero.

4) Katsuki Bakugo was a coward.

But instead of spending time waiting for visitation to finally open up after four months, he spent his time in an attempt to cheer up Inko. Inko had taken a harsh hit from everything.

Her son...

Her only son. The son that she raised since birth. The son she watched endure so many hardships and challenges. The son who said he would be a hero even while quirkless and by golly turned into one. Her amazing son was a hero.

A hero!

The greatest hero. He saved quite a few people. And she had the blessing of being the first one he had saved.

After Hisashi had moved abroad, Inko had become slightly depressed. Her love was cornered into an overseas contract for a company deal and had to go to America.

He was a few weeks into the new country when Inko received news that she was pregnant. And she didn't know how to feel at first. She was happy--they had been trying for a child for a bit now. But she felt overwhelmingly lonely. As if she had nowhere else to turn to for help. So she called her husband when the timezones clashed together and both were awake. She spoke to him and told him all her worries and he told her his own worries. Both parties were taught communication was key to a relationship.

Together they decided to raise the child. Hisashi would come home and call when he could. He would send over more money to pay for expenses and bills.

She was still nervous throughout the whole pregnancy. During this time she was also diagnosed with high-functioning depression, and she worried that this diagnosis would inhibit her ability to be a good parent.

Once her son was born she immediately started a FaceTime with her husband in America. He was due to come home in a couple weeks to be present during the birth but the baby came early.

Hisashi was scared when he answered the FaceTime and saw a bawling Inko inside a hospital room. He had thought the worst--they had lost the baby. But when Inko babbled about the birth going fairly smoothly and holding up their son, Hisashi was ecstatic.

Together they came up with the name Izuku.

And together they had promised they would be perfect parents.

But Inko felt like a failure. And her health was worsening as her son was laying in a hospital bed all alone.

Katsuki Bakugo took it upon himself to see her every time he could. Make sure she took her medicine, ate a decent meal and slept alright.

It takes someone who feels like a failure to see the pain of another who is going through the same emotions.
