➳--★--➳
Once again, the ace found himself staring at your figure, his cheeks were tinted a light pink that was unnoticeable due to its fainting color.
You were a 3rd year, a graduate to be exact. Knowing Futakuchi, he was one of the most troublesome junior you had ever encountered, the other 3rd years would tell you the he doesn't really show too much respect to his seniors and would always get caught arguing with Kamasaki.
But for some reason when he tries to literally roast the hell out of you, he would feel guilty and reluctant at first. So he surprisingly took his sassy attitude much more nicer to you. Which was "unfair" to the other seniors who tried being patient with the ace.
Of course he hated to admit it but he really couldn't sleep, not because of personal issues that he may have but because all night, he couldn't think of anything but your smiling face.
Your [H/C] hair, flowing with grace whenever you walked, [E/C] orbs that took his breath away in a metaphorical way, your [S/C] skin that was soft to touch despite its imperfections it was perfect in his eyes, your figure that swayed, your smile that shined brighter than everything he could've think of.
He loved everything about you, everything. All he could think of is you, at night, at morning, at the afternoon, at midnight, at practice, in class. Every moment, but does he hate it? No, absolutely not.
What he hated was his messed up sleeping schedule that gone from sleeping at night into sleeping at 1am or even late rin the morning.
But despite his easy-going and troublesome personality, he was a intriguing male indeed. So it wasn't a mystery that you've taken a bit of a liking at the wing spiker.
Though again, his personality towards the seniors could be a bit challenging to win him over.
Futakuchi shaked his head to snap himself out of his own thoughts that were already going wild, returning his attention back at practice, not wanting to get scold again like yesterday.
Clearing his throat to stop himself from continuing his fantasies, he walked away after realising it was time for a small break.
Just as he bent down to get his water bottle, he did a mocking grin over to none other than Kamasaki who was literally doing nothing but drink water.
Noticing the stare the wing spiker was giving him, the sandy blonde hair male glared over to his direction, lifting up a brow since he couldn't speak with a bottle on his mouth.
Aone looked over, blinking before realising the two were once again bickering and arguing with one another, though none off their petty fights were taken seriously sometimes. Futakuchi just had a weird habit of provoking his seniors, especially Kamasaki.

The middle blocker huffed, walking over to your direction before shyly tapping your shoulder. Normally he would try and forcibly stop the fight himself but he was too tired to do anything except lay down and sleep.
Glancing over to the huge male, you smiled warmly, his presence never failed to make you safe. Aone simply pointed to the two arguing male's direction, not bothering to speak a word. Knowing you would already catch on what he was trying to imply.
You sighed and shaked your head, but nonetheless smiled at the two volleyball player's immaturity. Excusing your self from Aone who already walked away to sit down just as you did the same.
"Oi, stop that." your statement was enough to stop Futakuchi from roasting Kamasaki with his words, he immediately shut his mouth and gave you a small grin, jogging away. Of course not after giving an annoying expression over to the other male.
The middle blocker blinked, offended that despite being a 3rd year himself, he was still getting disobeyed by his junior.
However, he was also most curious about the sudden mood swing the ace did, Futakuchi went from "Roar" to a "meow" in less than a millisecond, probably the time where you stopped them both.
You smiled proudly, "I'm glad he's listening to his seniors now, that usually never happens." the middle blocker scoffed sarcastically.
"If he did listen, we wouldn't have a argument."
"You mean petty fight?" you let out a small squeak as Kamasaki glared sharply at you, not knowing whether to feel bad he scared you or be irritated at the fact Futakuchi ignored him and listened to you instead.
The middle blocker just shaked his head, eyes rolling along with a heavy sigh escaping his lips. "He looks different," both you and Kamasaki let out a shriek, Aone suddenly popped up in between you two mad began talking without a greeting.
"Aone." you grumbled with a pout which made him mutter a small sheepish apology, but you simply shaked your hand, reassuring him that it was okay.
The giant male hummed, looking over to Futakuchi that was too busy annoying who knows what. "Has he not been sleeping well?"
"Who? Kenji?" you asked, looking over to where his eyes were planted and concentrated at, earning a hum from Aone.
"I never noticed." receiving no reply from neither of two, you averted your gaze back at them. Just to see them both staring at you with a strange expression, earning a raised brow form you.
"Uh..did I say something wrong?" it took all of Kamasaki's patience to not yell and make fun of you for being so unobservant and "stupid" for apparently not noticing what him and the team knew.

But instead of doing that, he simply placed both of his hands on your shoulders, using force to turn your body around, facing the direction where the ace was.
"Examine him," you scrunched up your face in a strange way, looking over to Kamasaki with curiosity labeled in your eyes, making him click his tounge.
"Why?"
"Just do it," he seemed to be getting more irriatted by your constant questions, since it was only a matter of time till their break ends. And you're basically wasting it by making them use their saliva on speaking.
With a hesitant sigh, you looked over to Futakuchi, your eyes squinting in hopes of getting a better view of him before your mouth agape.
Now that you actually paid close attention to him, the dark circles underneath his eyes were close to being visible but stayed unnoticed since it wasn't noticeable with just one glance.
He for one, also gets tired much more easier than before. Running 3 laps around the gym would make him whine and complain on how hard it was.
Normally you would assume he's having a hard time sleeping, kinda close to being an insomniac or constant nightmares always keeps him up awake. But judging by his appreance, it doesn't really look that way, kind of like he stays up all night on purpose and he doesn't even realise it.
With a small hum along with a nod, you turned back to the two middle blocker's who were patiently waiting for you to say something.
"Eyebags?"
"Bingo." Kamasaki snapped his fingers with a cheeky smile, Aone just hummed and nodded in agreement whilst you returned your gaze back to the wing spiker.
Wanting to bring up the topic about him again, you were cut off by the coach's whistle. Indicating their break had already ended, telling them to go back to practice without words needed to be spoken.
Kamasaki groaned lightly, probably annoyed that the quick break was indeed too short, But it's not like he can do anything about it.
The two middle blockers waved you goodbye, jogging away to continue blocking whoever was spiking the ball. Leaving you there wondering if Futakuchi was doing alright when it comes to sleeping, it's not like it's your business knowing it anyways. But the ace was the person you admired and liked. It would be a pity if you didn't atleast show a little care to his lack of sleep.
.
Both school and practice had ended, of course the ace's spikes were sloppy and lazy from time to time. And those actions of his made you even more curious, but despite worrying for the male, you still wanted to respect his privacy since he hasn't talked to it about anyone, surprisingly even Aone.
With a yawn escaping your mouth, you stretched your arms along with a soft grunt. "Good job today, guys." you smiled at the team, some of them giving you a thumbs up and smiles as a small thank you for your words.
Glancing towards the panting ace, you frowned. He looked desperate to come back to bed and fall asleep, probably wishing he doesn't wake up but that's kinda deep so you didn't go that far of assuming what was in his mind.
You just shaked your head, walking over to him before placing a hand on his shoulder, he reacted by glancing at you after a quick flinch of surprise.
"Take care, okay? Don't stress," it wasn't really noticeable, but the fainting pink color on his cheeks were definitely there.
Futakuchi cleared his throat, a smirk plastered on his face as usual, doing his best to act as casual and normal as possible around you.
"Uh yeah thanks, you too." giving him a closed-eye smile, you walked away from him to leave already since you were tired as well.
Waving the team goodbye, you fully left the place, allowing Futakuchi to annoy and provoke all his seniors without being nervous around you.
Kamasaki glanced over to the ace before rolling his eyes in annoyance, "Don't eve—" too late, the petty arguments started once again for probably the 7th time today.
Aone huffed, realising you weren't there anymore and he needed to stop them rather forcibly, like always.
.
Futakuchi let out a soft grunt, tossing and turning from his bed, even when he was in a comfortable and perfect position. He still couldn't sleep, all he knows is that he's blaming you for making him like you so much.
Guess why he couldn't sleep? Right, he was still thinking of none other than you.
Wow what a surprise I totally would've never guessed.
He clicked his tounge in annoyance, a pillow on his face while hugging it before he finally thiught of something.
Reaching over to his phone by the bedside, he scrolled thriugh his contacts, wanting to talk to Aone about his little problem.
Futakuchi
Hey idrc if you aren't awake
Futakuchi
But you're the only person I know who won't make fun of me.
Futakuchi
I want to take Y/n out for a date.
Closing his eyes along with turning off his phone, he let's out a tired sigh, he really wanted to sleep already but he couldn't really bring himself to.
Feeling a buzz from his phone, he opened it up before he dropped it on his face, face gone scarlet, eyes gone wide, mouth agape from surprise and a small squeak escaping.
Y/n
Aw hey that's cute, sure. Saturday at 4?

8 183An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.
8 110Viceroy's Pride
This story could be about the Tellask Empire, ruler of a thousand suns and faced with imminent peril at the hands of the Orakh hordes. It could be about Paltai Amberell, the scion of a noble elven House, fallen upon hard times and seeking to find the key that will restore his family's name and save the Empire itself. It could be the story of his voidship, The Viceroy's Pride, powered by magic and crewed by a team of crack marines as they search for adventure and the solution to the Empire's myriad problems. Instead, this is the story of Daniel Thrush, human electrical engineer, befuddled researcher and survivor of the debacle that was first contact with a spacefaring civilization. Due to a combination of luck, magic, hard work, and more luck he is thrust into the center of events as Earth is shoved onto a much larger stage rife with semi-immortal elves and magical kingdoms that predate the Earthly invention of agriculture. Earth is outnumbered, and we have precisely one wizard. Dan. He's not very good at it, but he's going to have to learn in a hurry or watch everything he knows get torn apart by massive spacefaring empires straight from the pages of a fantasy novel. ---------- Some readers have noted that the MC tends to be weak willed and pushed around a bit. A significant portion of the story is his character growth into not being a pushover (i.e. him being passive is in the early chapters on purpose). I'm just including this caveat/warning to make sure that readers aren't surprised/upset and that they stick with it until he learns to stand up for himself. His arc begins to crystallize around chapters 25-27. If that's too long to wait, I get it, I'm just trying to do my due diligence and warn you that the character development is a bit of a slow burn. This is NOT a harem novel. Nothing against them, just not what it is. --------- Updates Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday Feel free to bother me on our discord- Discord!

8 130Issekai Mockery
The story begins with Alvaro Brad, a genius young man in his teens. Alvaro excels at every subject of his school, chemistry, physics, mathematics and programming are some subjects that he enjoys the most. That seems to be the first impression that people have about him though. Alvaro has another side to him, he is addicted to gambling. Since nothing seems to challenge him anymore, he has taken upon himself to beat luck itself. The only moment he feels any kind of joy is when he takes risks and gambling has given him exactly that. After skipping class to gamble yet again, he sees something on the way to the club. After looking closer he finds a small coin on the ground and as soon as he picks it up he is transported to another world. -Issekai Mockery is exactly as the title suggests, a satire fiction novel making fun of the Issekai genre in subtle and not so subtle ways with the sole purpose of putting a smile on the readers' faces, the novel will feature a lot of Issekai and mmorpg jokes. Don't forget to comment and rate the fiction as I want to listen to some feedback.
