《Underestimate Me ⇝ anakin skywalker x reader {book 1}》61.

I went in first to check if Obi-Wans distraction was successful in distracting the droids. I ran down the far sides and around the corner.
"It's all clear!" I said, coming back to them.
"Looks like Obi-Wan's distraction worked." Anakin was pleased.
"Close the wall again, hopefully we have some time before they figure out we're in here." I pointed to the slab of concrete we cut out.
They did as I said and we were now all walking towards our pick up point. Anakin and I stayed at the front of the group, I checked behind to see the troopers stayed at least 10 feet behind us.
"Good fighting on the detention level." I smiled at him. I was so happy to see him.
"I did miss my lightsaber." He chuckled. "This whole plan, was it your idea?"
"Mine and Obi-Wan's." I said.
"For a time I thought you guys wouldn't come." He sighed.
"Wouldn't come? Of course, I'd come." I nudged him.
"Yeah, well with how we left things on Onderon and the fact no one has ever broken into the Citadel- ever- I thought-" he was babbling.
"You think too much." I shook my head, "I hated how we left things, too. That's why the moment you were taken on Vanqor I got in my fighter and almost got myself killed following the Separatist fleet." I laughed at my own stupidity.
"Well that's stupid." He looked at me strange.
"Nothing you wouldn't have done." I returned his look.
"I need to stop doing dumb things so you and Ahsoka can stop saying that to me." He laughed.
"Sounds like you learned responsibility." I rose a brow.
"The force knows I've got too much of that." He rolled his eyes. Oh if he only knew what other responsibility he was going to have soon.
I wanted to tell him so bad. I wanted to be so excited about having a family with him. But we haven't been alone since I found out. I can't do that to him yet, we both just need to focus on the mission right now.
We continued our way through the tunnels. The rock like walls were very inconsistent. I hated how at points they were loose and others they were solid. The lava that was a mile below us to catch our fall wasn't comforting at all either.

"Are you okay?" Anakin asked me as we had to jump over a missing section of the trail.
"Yes, I'm alright." I said, recovering from my jump. I held onto my stomach to make sure everything was safe there.
"So, now do you wanna update me on why you let Ahsoka come here?" He said, his voice hostile.
"I didn't let her- ugh!" I smacked myself, "I told her and Caleb specifically that they weren't allowed to come on this one, that it was far too dangerous." I told him.
"Caleb's not here too, is he?" Anakin looked back at me.
"No, he actually listened to me. Ahsoka froze herself in carbon to join us, even after I gave her specific orders not to." I ranted, "And her excuse was that Master Plo assigned her here, but why would he do that without telling me or Obi-Wan! Then she even pulled out the fact that we never follow direct orders." I rolled my eyes.
"She is one of a kind." He shook his head.
"Let's just hope we can get everyone out of here." I said. I looked around at the tunnels and tried to find a more optimistic view of the situation.
"I do have to say, I'm starting to admire these tunnels." I shrugged, Anakin laughed.
"How can you admire such a horrible place?" He asked.
"Well, the design is very well done. It's extremely hard to invade. I think places like these show how effective places like this can be." I said, thinking of the security. Anakin gave me a strange look.
"I guess you have a point. Doesn't make these places any more humane." He said. Then I heard a droid beep, it sounded like one of those floating surveillance clunkers.
"Go ahead, keep following the tunnel, move quietly and slowly." I told Anakin.
"Where are you going?" He grabbed my arm. There was that burning feeling again, it ignited my soul.
"Obi-Wan's not here, so someone has to protect this flank." I said, but he held me too tight.
"Then I'll go." He tried,
"No, no, Anakin. You're the person we're trying to keep safe here, remember?" I pointed out, "Just keep going. I'll catch up." I promised, he groaned. They all shuffled down the path and around the corner. I walked in the opposite direction to destroy anything that might be following us.

Around the corner, I saw a quick glimpse of it. I couldn't let it see me, I jumped up and held myself between two walls. I waited for the droid to slowly be under me, when it did I dropped down and sliced it with my saber.
Then I checked again to see if any other droids were coming this way, Obi-Wan's distraction must've worn off. Another opening to the facility opened up above me, 3 elite droids came out.
I force pushed one into the lava, one "fell" on my lightsaber, and the other one I had a quick struggle with as it kept trying to shoot me. But made up for it when I was able to deflect the shots back to him with my saber.
Then I ran ahead again, soon I caught up them, they got into their own trouble with some super battle droids and elite droids. I was able to cut my way through from behind. They had shields that you could shoot through from one side and not the other, I stole 2 and threw them to the troopers.
They didn't blow up the wall. There was a man made wall behind them, behind it was leading them to the fuel tanks where R2 will meet us for the pick up point.
"Why didn't you blow up the wall?" I asked, a bit of hostility tainted my words.
"Probably because you never told me to!" He said, "I thought it was a dead end!"
"Well it's not." I said, grabbing Fives backpack filled with explosives.
I lined the whole wall with them, I picked out one but it wasn't a wall. It was a droid popper, like the ones we used on Onderon.
I yelled for them to look out as I rolled the popper under all the droids view. They all then we shocked and dismantled when the popper popped.
Then soon after the bomb went off behind me, I was thrown down to the ground. I felt a slight ringing in my ear as Anakin picked me back up. My chest hurt, I had completely ate it and fell on my face. I held my stomach. I started to freak out, I was hoping I didn't hurt the baby.
I thought of my dream. Maybe it felt so real because that's what would happen if I continued doing these things? I wanted to talk to Anakin about this. I wanted to tell Obi-Wan or Mace or Palpatine. Someone I trusted but none of them knew. I couldn't tell them now.
As we walked through the wall and into the fluid pipe we all held our noses. It smelt awful. I hoped this also wouldn't hurt the baby. Other pregnant women must think I'm insane for doing all this. But this was my job, I couldn't risk losing this yet.
My commlink beeped, it was R2.
"R2? Is everything on schedule?" I asked. He beeped back that they had just picked up Obi-Wan and were on their way.
"Got it." I said, "Alright men, who's ready to run?"
I began running with all of them behind me. I ran quickly, I pushed back the fact that I'm holding a child, hey maybe all this activity will help me put off any belly fat gain.
"Almost there! R2 is waiting for us." I said.
We got to the hatch, I jumped up on the ladder to open it.
"Wait, (Y/N)! Be careful! There might be a whole droid army up there!" Anakin yelled, but if was too late. I had already opened the hatch.
I looked out and there was only the ship, Obi-Wan stood on the platform.
"Come on! Let's go!" He yelled at me, then I sensed the blast coming. I ducked my head before it hit me.
"We have trouble! Go fast!" I yelled, jumping out, lightsaber ignited and deflecting as I ran.
Everyone behind me was on the same pace. There must've been 100 behind us. I hopped on, Anakin was behind me followed by the 4 troopers.
"Now R2!" I yelled after the last trooper entered the ship. I tried closing the door but a blast got in, and killed a trooper. I wasn't fast enough.
I backed away as they yelled at their friend to hold on. It was my fault. I wasn't fast enough to save him. I should've told them to not let their guard down. I felt awful. He made it to the end, but not home. Anakin saw my face, the guilt that struck it, and took me out of the cargo hold.
