《Living a Lie {Anakin Skywalker x Reader}》5

I wake up to someone shaking me.
"(Y/N)! We're about to land!" I open my eyes to Anakin.
I smile, "hi."
"Hi," he tucks a strand hair behind my ear. "We have to get going."
I nod my head in understanding and get up. This is so confusing, last night, I didn't want anything to do with Anakin, and now all I want him to do is hold me. I grab my cloak and put it on. The only things I own is the clothes I am wearing, an extra tunic and trousers, capsules, and my lightsaber. Jedi don't own anything else. Even simple little objects are considered as attachments. It's not fair. It's ridiculous, that's what it is.
Anakin must sense my frustration, "whats wrong?"
"Nothing," I shove the thought aside. "It's not important."
He takes my hand, "okay." It's cold to the touch, but it brings me warmth.
Padmé walks in the room, "we've --"
I jolt away from Anakin.
"Sorry," Padmé frowns. "We've landed."
"Okay," I say and leave the room. I realize I forgot my food capsules. As I'm walking back, I hear Anakin and Padmé talking. I wait outside the door and listen.
"What was that?" She asks.
He sighs, "it was nothing. Me and (Y/N) were just... Talking."
"Your hands?" She asks suspiciously.
Anakin takes a deep breath in, "it doesn't matter, Padmé. You really need to stay out of this. This is not your place." Padmé doesn't respond.
"I'm -- I'm sorry. I'm just confused about her," he says.
"Why?" Padmé asks.
"She does one thing, then says another," he says.
Padmé laughs, "she's a woman, Anakin. What were you expecting?"
"Padmé," Anakin starts, "she's much more. Much, much more." My stomach begins to swirl. I feel sick, yet I feel... Intoxicated. As weird as it sounds, I like it. He begins to walk out so I scurry around the corner. I walk around it towards the room that Anakin is now exiting, to play it off.
"I know you were listening. I could sense you," he says as we pass each other. I stop in my tracks, ashamed. It was wrong of me to listen. I shake it off, and retrieve my capsules.
"Got into an argument about Master Argus?" Padmé asks as I'm about to leave.

I shake my head, "there's no fooling you, M'lady. You have figured out too much." I walk out of the room.
I spot Anakin waiting just before the ramp, "I'm sorry, Anakin. I should've never listened."
"No," he comes closer to me. "(Y/N), I'm glad you heard. I meant what I said. You are more than a person, a woman, to me. You are far greater." We are now inches apart.
I feel heat rush to my cheeks, "not as amazing as you."
Anakin opens his mouth as to say more, but Padmé walks up to us. "Ready?"
"Yes, M'lady," I answer. We take Padmé's bags, and walk down the ramp.
I awe in amazement, "you're home planet... It's so beautiful. Just like my father described it." My hart pangs at the sound of the word father.
"She was once Queen of Naboo, when she was very young," Anakin explains.
Padmé smiles, "I believe I was too young."
"You were an excellent queen, M'lady. I heard they even tried to amend the constitution so you could stay in office longer," I tell Padmé.
Padmé sighed, "I was relieved when my two terms were up. I don't believe I could have pleased my people longer."
"I believe the Republic needs you. I am glad you chose to serve," I tell Padmé.
Anakin nods his head, "(Y/N) is right. You have contributed a lot to the Republic, Padme." She smiles from all the praise.
We walk into the Naboo main building.
I stand by Anakin, while Padmé and many other Naboo politicians discuss the current events. I never had much respect for politics, so I tune them out.
They all stand, and walk. I now choose to listen.
Queen Jamilla walks next to Padmé, while Anakin and I walk behind. "The day we stop believing democracy can work, is the day we lose it," The queen tells Padmé.
Padmé looks at her, "let's pray that day never comes."
"In the mean time," the queen starts, "we must consider your own safety."
"What is your suggestion, Master Jedi," one of the politicians ask us.
Anakin opens his mouth, but Padmé says, "oh Anakin and (Y/N) are not Jedi yet. They're still Padawan learners. But, I was thinking --"

"Hold on a minute," Anakin interrupts her.
I touch his arm. "Anakin!" I whisper-yell.
"Excuse me. I was thinking I would stay in the lake country. Some places there are very isolated," Padmé tells the queen.
Anakin narrows his eyes, "excuse me. M'lady, I am security here."
"And I've lived here all my life. I think it'd be wise if you took my advice," she narrowed her eyes.
"Yes, M'lady," Anakin smiled unconvincingly. He shoots me a she's-being-so-ridiculous look, but I think he had no place to interrupt Padme.
*******
Our speeder arrives outside of Padmé's home. "M'lady, what are we doing here?" I ask her.
She looks back at Anakin and I, "I would like to stay with my family, despite what the Council or Republic says I should do."
"And where will we stay?" Anakin asks.
Padmé hands me a piece of paper with a code on it, "this is the entry code to my family's lake house. Dayson will take you to the lake, then you will continue by boat." She gestures to her driver.
"Yes, M'lady. Be safe," I tell her.
She smiles, "and you as well."
******
"This place is... Breathtaking," I smile at Anakin as we walk along the halls of the home.
He nods, "it is indeed."
"Who would want to leave?" I ask.
Anakin laughs. I look at him, "what?"
"Oh, nothing," he keeps laughing.
"You're making fun of me!" I punch his arm.
He grins, "I just find it amazing how you've never seen something so beautiful. Have you ever looked in the mirror?"
"You're a real charmer, you know that?" I smile.
He smiles with his teeth, "only for you."
******
Anakin and I stand over a railing, looking over into the lake.
"I wonder what it would be like to grow up here. And live here," I look beyond the lake.
Anakin looks at me, "I would never leave. That is, unless you aren't here."
I laugh and look up at him. He easily towers over me with his large frame. "What if we never met?"
The beautiful, vast lake reflects onto Anakin's eyes, "then I would go and find you."
"What if you couldn't" I ask.
He leans closer to me, "then I wouldn't be as charming. Because there is no one worth time to charm."
"Padme?" I lean a little closer too.
"You are all I want. Need," Anakin whispers. Slowly, we lean closer to each other. I breathe in the sweet smell of Anakin's hair. It smelled like the spice my father brought home from Naboo. Then our lips meet. Fireworks went off in my brain. The kiss becomes more passionate. It is perfect. I wanted it to linger on, but then I feel guilty. I place my thumb between our lips to stop him.
"Anakin, we shouldn't have done that," I turn away from him.
He places his hand on my back, "I had to, (Y/N). It was killing me, not being able to know what it felt like."
I shake my head and press my hands into my eyes. How could have I just done that? I was foolish.
"What did you feel?" Anakin asks.
I keep my face in my hands. "Your lips."
"Obviously," Anakin laughs. "But, really. What did you feel?"
"A lot," I sigh. "It was... spectacular."
He takes my hands away from my face, "what did you feel? Towards me. Not the kiss."
I decided I would be honest with him. "I didn't want it to end. All I want is for you and me to stay here forever. But I don't even know you, Anakin. Two days ago we just met, and I already know that I want you. I don't understand these feelings. They scare me."
Anakin looks out onto the lake, "we met five years ago."
"That's not what I meant," I say.
"Why are you scared? I'm... exhilarated," he keeps his eyes on the lake.
I look up at him, "because I don't know if this is real or not. I don't know if you'll feel the same in a day, or a week, or a month, or a year. Or ever."
Anakin takes his eyes off of the lake, and onto me. He blinks a few times before knowing what to say. "I can't promise us a normal life. The Jedi Order took that away from us years ago. But what I can promise you, is my love."
I kiss his cheek and whisper into his ear, "Don't promise someone something if you can't keep it, Anakin," and walk away.
