《Haikyuu!! AUs (x Reader)》Iwazumi Hajime - Burning Mistletoe

You stood on a flattened land. The sun sent rings of bright red along the horrizon as it fought with the night sky that begun rolling in. You stabbed your sword into the ground and used it as a third leg, supporting your weight and preventing you from falling.
No more than thirty metres in front of you were two giant flags crossing each other as they marked a new barren waste land of another battle. Both banners holding the symbols of the Vermillion and Cobalt kingdoms leaned and pushed against each other as if continuing a battle that had already finished.
The beating of large wings were heard behind you as you turned to face your beautiful Queen as she landed a few steps inform of you. Her blue clothing had bits of silver and white that where seen with immaculate care to portray a woman of the highest order. Her glowing blue wings folded behind her as she held her hand out to you.
"Please, don't force yourself to live through the pain you have suffered through before. (Y/N), my dearest servent, knight to the throne. Please, come back to the castle. It's been days and there is much to discuss."
Your head tilted downwards eyes squinted as red light reflected off your armor and blinded you for a moment. Your hand pulled the sword from the ground and sheathed it, hiding it away.
The Queen held you elbow gently as she guilded you away from the battlefield. Once at the castle, the sun had set long ago, leaving a navy night behind in its wake.
"There as been an arrangement." the Queen spoke.
Your armor had been discarded long ago replaced with common robes of the queens maid, silver trimming being the only indication of higher status.
In the Queens chambers the only light the was being provided was given by a candle on the bedside. The Queen took off her crown and placed it on a flat cushion for it to rest. You began to help her dissrobe and prepare for sleep as she continued talking.

"I will marry the King of the Vermillion Kingdom to bring peace between our two lands and put an end to this never ending war between us. I wish for there to be peace for my people so I will do what I must and I'm sure the King agrees to my sentiment."
You sighed and lifted the covers for her to sink under. Once she did you took a seat in the large chair next to the bed.
"The gods force us to fight. They will never let us resolve it. There is no feud between our two kingdoms but the gods find entertainment in our sorrow. I have fought in battles soon battles for this never ending war and have seen my men die for it, for nothing. For there is never a victory nor is there loss, but we lose too much, we lose the lives of those who carry this kingdom." your sands clenched around your silk robes.
Your back slouched into the back of the chair as your tried not to scream at your ruler out of frustration.
"My Queen. I understand that you wish for the best but the gods will force war soon us whether or not you marry."
Her smile was sweet and gentle. She reached and held your hand with care before pulling it back towards her and under the covers.
~~~
You stood next to the queen as she stood directly in front of the Vermillion King. Next to him, his own servant.
You knew their names and they knew yours and If it were under the same circumstances you normally meet your blade would be drawn.
"Iwazumi, please take (Y/N) and youself to a separate room. I have things that I must discuss in quiet with the Queen."
Once down the hall and separated from your masters, the two of you stood ridged in front of each other.
"I must say. I am surprised they haven't waged war on each other yet." the man laughed causing the feathers in his hair to bounce.
You smiled and shook your head.
"Though strong, they are both much to fragile for that. In my opinion I think they would likely start hitting each other with those wings of theirs."
Conversations continued. On and on until you found yourself not wanting to be separated from the man or at least speak with him even for a moment longer.
But when the two rulers showed at the door. The two men left, leaving you with your last look of Iwazumi being the back of his spiky brown hair, tanned skin, and red feather accented clothing of the Vermillion kingdom.
~~~~
Two nights before the set wedding between the King and Queen of opposing kingdoms, you set sent to the front cares for graveyard watch and protection. The lights from the castle behind you were dim and almost non-existent giving you perfect view of the glowing stars above your head.
A rustling noise from the woods ahead grabbed your attention.
"Show thyself of your spine will be torn from your body for tresspassing on castle grounds."
"My appologies, I didn't think there would be any consequences for visiting a friend." Iwazumi head popped out of a nearby shrub.
"I wished to have your help with something, but if you don't want to join me thanks fine. Just go back to guarding."
He began to duck away again when you called out to him.
"Wait."
~~
The punched in piece of wood was a target as Iwazumi tried again and again to use his fire powers to set in on fire.
"Powers arrent allowed unless used for battle purposes. Even then it's not the best idea, so please sto--"
"Aha!" He cheered looking at the flame before turning to you.
"Now douse the flame."
~~
A wedding.
An arrow.
A murder.
A flame.
You hid with the Queen in her chambers as the two of you saw the flames take down your kingdom. The King had been hit by an arrow during the ceremony. It shot stright through his torso, killing him almost instantly.
Iwazumi couldn't take it. The wings that once bellonged to his king grew from his back as he screamed in horror. Pointing in the direction of you and the Queen, blaming you for his kings murder.
He fled to the kingdom and began to set your world on fire.
The Queen held you tightly to her as she stated at the window.
"I must go." she said. "If I don't he could kill us all."
"My Queen, you-"
"I can stop him. Or at least slow him down."
She flew out the window. You grabbed a cape and ran for the castle's exit where you stood in the steps staring at the towering kingdom. Cobalt and Vermillion streaks in the sky flew around in large circles before colliding.
Your chest felt like it was being ripped open as you stared at the scene in front of you. You cried knowing that the loss of your Queen, your friend was something you could never recover from.
Your back burned as glowing blue wings seemed to grow from the air just above the surface of your cloak.
The gods would never let this war end.
You looked to the sky, hunched over your stomach as you curled up in pain.
Only the bright red light was left for you to see.
Iwazumi would never let himself lose. You knew this. But there was no way for him to win.
You knew that more.

Between the trio's optimistic yet naive ideals, and the SPS's tried-and-true surgical methods, determining the answer which methods can better humanity is a struggle that both parties must resolve in their own ways... Welcome to the 7th revision of my 10+ years ongoing novel trilogy. This revision took out some flawed plot concepts to re-introduce a more down-to-earth, film noir-like ambience, where a battle of wits is what will determine the outcome. It also added instead more in-depth expansion into the lives and mindsets of the characters, especially the heroes (a missing factor in older versions). Third-view limited storytelling was also introduced more prominently over my favoured third-view omnipotent, with each chapters concentrating as much as possible on a single character's point of view instead of head-hopping. So I shall begin uploading the chapters as I finish them; they're edited as much as I can, but there'll most likely be some typos and mistakes. As always, I welcome your comments and critiques, and I hope you enjoy reading that story as much as I did creating it! A parting poem to introduce the story (translated from its original French version): Credit: Les Mots, Mylene Farmer & Seal Firmly, the sky writhes When a mouth begets a death There, I will give my life to hear you To tell you the most tender words When all becomes all alone I'll break my life for a song And to lives that stoop to notice mine I know I will say goodbye But a fraction of this life I would give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives You could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple If one swept the world away One could touch the universe I will tell you how the sun rose high We could with a word become one And for all those words that hurts us There are those that touches us Which illuminates, touches the infinity Even if nothingness exists For a fraction on this life We will give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives We could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple
