《Haikyuu!! AUs (x Reader)》Nishinoya Yu- The King

“Noya? Are you there?” You whispered.
You were in the middle of the garden of the palace. It was late at night, but that was the only way that Nishinoya would show up.
It wasn't like he couldn't come out in the day though, the sun burned his skin, so he decided to stay out of it because he was a demon.
The air started to feel hot and then in front of you a bright flame burned on the ground and there was a slight rumble of the earth before you saw him.
He smiled at you. “(Y/N), you shouldn't call me that often. I'm about to become crowd king of the underworld. It's dangerous for me to come here now.”
You pouted. “What did you expect than? To me to forget my best friend, the person who you grew up with?”
You slightly cringed at the sound soft 'friends’. It's wasn't like you were best friends, because you were, but you felt like saying friends meant that you could never be more than that. You also knew that most people started out as friends, but it was still tried to say.
At least you could call him a friend.
Nishinoya laughed. “Alright, fine. I'll give you that. Also, the food is way better here.”
You took his hand and dragged him to the fountain at the back of the garden and sat down at the ledge. “Are you nervous?”
“To rule the entire underworld even though I'm only 18, nah,” he said, shaking his head. “I'm not nervous at all. Also, considering that almost everyone in the upper world hates me, I'm completely fine.”
You rolled your eyes. “Not everyone hates you. My dad likes you.”
“That's only because he basic raised me and knows when I take the thrown I would rage war and start killing everyone.”
“Yeah, and when he hands down his crown to me, you know that I wouldn't hate you, you've got a good couple of years of peace,” you said.
It's was quite as neither of you spoke. The sounds of the water flowing and the night winds rustling the leaves made the world feel endless and at peace.
“(Y/N)?” he whispered.
“Yeah?”
“I….I wanted to ask you if-”
On top of the palace the warning bell rung three times, signaling danger or grief. All of the the palace lights turned on cascading from the top to the bottom. Seconds later, the entire village was light with fire lights.
Guards ran out of the back entrance of the palace and started to shout your name.
Nishinoya stepped back and held your hand for a second. “Tell me what happened, yeah?”
You nodded your head and let go of his hand. He took one last look at you and ran off into the darkness of the garden. A small light formed, and you new he went back to the underworld.
You turned around to find one of the guards, but they were already standing in front of you. They didn’t seem angry at you for being out so late, they’ve gotten used to it and put extra security guards around the perimeter at night.

“What’s wrong?”
The guard at the front step forwards and quickly bowed to you before looking in your eyes. “Your majesty….”
You laughed. “You know that you can call me (Y/N). There is no need for formalities.”
The guard nodded, and gave you a tiny small. “Your majesty, something happened.”
You rolled your eyes. You’ve never really like being called ‘your majesty’ because it made you feel superior to them, even though you saw them on equal ground and status no matter their class. Your father always told you that that’s what's going to make you a great queen. “Obviously, you don’t ring the bell for nothing, and by the look on your faces it’s not good.”
The guard swallowed. “(Y/N), your father, the king, died a few minutes ago in his chambers.”
~~~~~
After your father’s funeral, the kingdoms officials,including you, had a meeting. Moments of silence past in the grand hallway. Everyone was looking at you, but all you saw was the highest chair empty at the round table.
“So,” you said, not looking that them, “so I get the crown now? I mean, I am nest in line to the thorn aren't I?”
“I’m sorry you majesty, but you are not of age yet to take the throne,” one of them said.
“That’s only in a couple of weeks, can’t we speed up to process?”
“I’m afraid not.”
You rolled your eyes. “Then what? The kingdom goes without law or rules for a few weeks? It’s what my father would have wanted. He already prepared me for the throne, I know everything that needs to be done and everything that he was planning to do to make this a better place.”
The officials looked grave. “I know, your majesty, but the law of rightful age has been in place longer than you’ve been alive, and we can’t change something like that.”
“Then who’s going to be temporary king.”
“Your uncle.”
You flinched and shook your head. “He's a vile and cruel man.”
“I know, and to be informal, your majesty, it kills to see such a man take the throne of your kind father.”
“Then don’t do it.”
“It’s the law. I have to. Sorry, (Y/N).”
~~~~~
The new king was walking around the palaces what a smug look on his face, and you kind of wanted to slap him. Your father hated his brother because of all the reasons he shouldn’t be king. He only seemed to gain power, start war between lands, and not help others.
You were called into the grade hall, and stood behind the chairs of one of the officials.
Your uncle smiled at you. “(Y/N), my favourite niece.”
“Hello, most hated uncle.”
The new king frowned and his eyes harden. “Watch your mouth, young lady, or you might lose you head. You’re just like your father.”
You smiled at him. “I take that as a compliment, thank you. And what are you doing? Threatening to kill me? You should, then maybe you’ll be changed with wrongful execution and not be king. I would gladly give my life to not see you were my father once stood.”

The officials looked stunned at your words, but it didn’t change the fact that they were trying to hide their laughed with downwards looks and puckered lips.
Your uncle twitched, but didn’t say a word, he only smirked at you. “Since your so opinionated, why don’t you tell me what you think of me attacking the underworld?”
The room moved in shock. “You can’t do that,” you shouted, “you’d be starting a war.”
“That’s kinda the point.”
Your jaw dropped. “But they did nothing, their people did nothing to threaten this kingdom. You’d be endangering the lives of not only their people but mine as well .”
The king glared at you. “Their existence is threatening, and they are not your people, they are mine.” He torn his eyes from you and looked around at the officials. “Gather up the soldiers. We’ve got a war to win.”
~~~~~
The two worlds were at war. Once the rumor, that turned to truth, spread, it was the underworld that attacked first. The soldiers on the battlefield looked reluctant to start the confrontation, but they were following orders.
The village was a sea of smoke and fire. Thousands dead, and thousands more to be dead. The king was ruthless, once the underworld army entered the upper world, he was prepared with soldiers and cannons.
Though major protest, you left the palace to help the people in the village. Putting them on horses, carriages, and anything to get them out of the kingdom to somewhere safe and without war. All of the officials tried to make you leave as well, but what type of future ruler would you be if you left the people when it was their worst moments.
You told them that you were staying until everyone was out of the kingdom, and once that happened, you weren’t leaving. and if weren’t for it, then they could leave.
The underworld army was terrifying. They were really people, but demons. They were dark figures that were twice the size of a person. You’ve encountered may of them, but none of them tried to harm you. Actually, they didn’t harm anyone who wasn’t harming them.
They were making their way slowly to the palace. It looked as if they were only there to kill the king and be gone.
You were really worried about Nishinoya. You’ve haven’t seen him yet, and you didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing. He could still be in the underworld, commanding from there, fighting in the battle, or he could be dead for all you knew.
You were trying to lift a wagon that had fallen upon someone, but to no success. You kept whispering ‘I’m sorry’ every time you tried and failed to save them. Once last time, you pulled on the wagon expecting nothing to happen, but it lifted.
The villager thank you repeatedly before getting on a carriage and leaving with another group of people.
You looked to your side and saw Nishinoya standing there. His clothes were torn and he looked tired. You immediately jumped on him to hug him.
“I thought that you were dead,” you whispered.
He hugged you back tightly. “I could say the same for you. You should leave, it isn’t safe here.”
“I know, that’s why I can’t leave. There are so many people here and I couldn’t just leave without knowing that everyone who was still alive was away from war.”
Nishinoya pulled away from the hug and smiled at you. “Of course you would, your (Y/N), but sometimes it’s okay to save yourself. How do you expect to be the next crown (Queen/King) if you're dead? I’ll tell some of my army to clear out everyone before it becomes too big, but you need to go.”
You nodded, and pulled him into another hug. “I’m sorry that I wasn’t born earlier, none of this would’ve happened if I was born two week earlier.”
“You couldn’t have prevented this, it was fate. Now go,” he said.Nishinoya pulled away and gave you kiss on the forehead. “Be safe. I’ll see you again.”
You looked up from Nishinoya’s face, and past his eyes you saw a person standing on the balcony of the palace, their bow knocked. You stared widen eyed as you saw the arrow release from the bow and fly towards Nishinoya.
You took one last look at Noya, before pushing them out of the way. The arrow buried itself into your chest, and you feel backwards, leaving life.
~~~~~
Nishinoya’s world stopped as he saw you fall. He rushed towards you and held you in his arms. His vision was blurry from the tears that were crawling down his face.
“You shouldn’t have done that,” he whispered. “You’re supposed to be be (Queen/King).”
You smiled at him weakly, blood spilling from the side of your mouth. “So are you. At least I’ll be with my father. And Noya?”
Nishinoya swallowed. “Yeah.”
“Please kill my uncle.”
“I will.”
You sniffed, you breathing getting heavier. “Noya, you know that I really love you right. Not just like friends, but true love.”
Nishinoya shook his head and places his forehead towards yours. “Don’t say those thing because you think your going to die, because you're not. “
You raised your hand and touched his cheek. “I love you.”
Nishinoya felt as you breathing stopped and your body remind motionless.
In the distance, the archer stood on the balcony and knocked another arrow.
Noya’s heart hurt. He never felt pain like this before.
He screamed.
A red wave of energy rushed out his body and everything surrounding him died and the world was silent. He heard as the archer feel from the rooftop, and his own troops dropping from the power.
He stood up, carrying you in his arms, fire, smoke and the dead surrounded him.
“I love you too, (Y/N).”

Recruit - An Infinite Labyrinth prequel
A prequel to The Infinite Labyrinth. The year is 1816. The British Empire is in full swing, under the auspices of King George III. The Infinite Labyrinth has been pouring out its product from beyond our reality and fostered a new industrial revolution. Times are changing, and the people of London are feeling the winds of the revolution while British Professionals push into the Labyrinth. The newly formed Artefact Hunting Company is looking for recruits, and they have new technology to help them. From the slums of London, they aim to recruit a new wave of Professionals. And make Zacharias and the Earl of Carnavon lots of money. So, for Rowan Rivers and a handful of lucky ones, it's time to head into the Labyrinth, and discover what makes it different from England. And what makes THEM different? Recruit is a bunch of chapters I wrote to create to the setting, mood, and game systems of the Infinite Labyrinth. It is NOT a complete story in the classic sense. It's more of a slice of life view of early days of a normal Professional from the Infinite Labyrinth, and it's heavy on info-dump. It's 90% canon - there's probably a bit of a difference between how some characters and common behaviour are portrayed here and how they'll come out in the main story. Set two years before the events that kick-start the main series, it features some of the secondary/peripheral characters of the Infinite Labyrinth and will tell you all about the basic mechanics of the Labyrinth's RPG system. It can be considered a spoiler, as the characters in the Infinite Labyrinth are going to need to figure out all that, on their own. But if you like a much deeper exposition in the mechanics, here it is. The entire prequel is about 80 pages long.
