《Haikyuu!! AUs (x Reader)》Asahi Azumane- Feathers

Class was boring for the most part, that was somewhat expected since you attended a university for math and science. With it being located in Britain didn't help either since you only had time for school. But the class following was your favourite, and everyone elses in the Academy.
Time travel.
Well, the actual title was much longer. But no one called it that. And in the class, historians such as yourself will work on machines for the professionals who you hope to be in the future.
Your class got to work on the different machines that where scattered around the room. Some were rough around the edges while others where further along. With a sort of cloak that surrounded it giving it the ability to change its appearance to fit with the timeline it was in.
You were just about finished. Your group was attaching final parts and when you were done it would a fully working time machine.
"Last bit. And Done!"
"Same here!"
"Me too."
You walked into the machine flipping some switches as you walked through.
"Hey, Professor! We're finished." you where about to walk out when the door slammed shun in front of you face. Buttons and switches started going of and switching. Lights flickered and screens went static flipping through images from different decades.
The machine shook making you fly from one corner to the other, making your body gain bruises and scratches with every hit. Your heart felt like it slammed on the edge of your ribcage when you landed flat on your back as the ship slammed down.
The lights and switches stopped in a position and projectors either had a black screen or images of your location.
"Computer, where are we?"
You slowly stood up and paced through your machine looking for any faulty craftsmanship.
"You are in London, England."
You nodded and leaned against an empty wall of the main room.

"Computer, when are we?"
It answered immediately, "1916."
"Shit."
You ran to one of the available quarters and looked through the extensive closet.
"Computer, where are the appropriate clothes for this time period?"
"Far left corner."
Shifting through the various clumps of material you managed to pull out a costume that was suitable for going outside.
World War One. You loved reading about it, finding stories of soldiers who saved there friends in battle, or lost their lives tragically.
There was one you remeber standing out. A man who lost his life on the first day of work. Trying and succeeding to save his friends from enemy fire.
"Hmm."
You threw on the dress and looked through specific areas of the main control consoles.
"Computer, what's the exact date?"
"25, May 1916."
"Great."
You picked up a portable controller for the time machine dropping it in a small satchel from the closet and walked out the door.
Streets were busy men walking to the closest docks or stables to set out for war. Few managed to get a car. Women, children and elderly waved to the young man as they left in uniforms. Some walked in the other direction stuffing feathers in the clothing of men who stayed away.
Tapping your chin, you stood in the busy streets of London as you looked at a man with goose feathers falling from his sleeve.
Though he wasn't the one you wanted to find, the man you looked for was in uniform.
"He gets on a boat that sails at 0600 hours. It's currently 0520. The next boat startes taking passengers at 0530. If I want even a chance I have to get on at 0559. Great."
You roamed the streets, making your way to the various battleships that waited to take soilders to war.
~~
You held your small machine in your hand as you stood at the front of the crowd. Your eyes skimmed through the men of many ages as they waved good bye to their loved ones.

Back aft of the ship stood a tall man with broad shoulders carrying a much smaller, but likely nimble, man on his back.
"Bingo."
The horn of the ship roared as it's engine started to pull the ship away from the dock. You pressed a button on you mini machine, keeping your eyes on the to man as you did.

New clothes, courtesy of an officers cabin.
Cigarettes from another, despite you not going to use them.
And a flask filled to the rim with whiskey.
Forget (Y/N) (L/N), you were now Thomas Kingly, soldier of World War One.
But along with a new identity, you had to follow a new role. And within a few days it would be the 1st of July. You dreaded the thought
~~~
It was raining, men sat in places they wished were dry as they got soaked it the rain. A few took It as an opportunity to try and get as clean as they could. Others treated it like a disease, like even a bit of rain would lead them to getting trench foot or the flu.
They were the smart ones.
You listen to the missiles as the shot over in hopes to clear out the enemy. You knew it wouldn't work. You looked at the many rats as they ran through the trenches, taking and spread flees as they went.
It was about 0200 when you downed the last of your whiskey. And you knew that in only a few hours the men you had known for only a couple days could very well be dead.
Asahi Azumane. The man you knew too well slept peacfully on a pile of dirty sandbags as his friend Nishinoya Yu slept on the opposite side of the trench.
It was 0300 and at 0732, Asahi Azumane would be reported MIA and then later dead.
You held your gun a little tighter.
~~~
It was quiet in No Mans Land and the trenches that surrounded it.
3,
You knew just as well as your superior officers that this was a suicide mission. That a bloodbath was the only with that would follow.
2,
You looked beside you at Azumane and Yu as they held their guns ready to go over the top. Your machine was tucked in your sleeve, ready for use.
"You two try your best okay?" you asked despite the knowledge you had.
"We will." they said.
Azumane placed a hand on your shoulder and shook it lightly.
"You do the same."
1.
The whistle blew. The men above you ran up the ladders as you followed.
0730
Your ears ringed as you stayed next to Azumane and Yu. Trying to ensure their safety.
0731
You watched bodies fall as tried to get through to the enemy trenches.
A screetch flew through the air.
0732
You pressed a button.
~~~~
Nishinoya Yu managed to get through the war. He lost a leg from a shell that exploded only a metre away from him. Hard to believe he survived.
Thomas Kingly died on the 1st of July 1916.
Asahi Azumane died on the 1st of July 1916.
~~~~~
"You okay?"
You could have got home days ago.
"No."
"Okay. Are you at least better than a minute ago?"
Asahi layer down on a bed in one of the quarters of your class project.
His eyes slowly opened to look around. They stopped when they landed on you. His brows surround when he realized that both him and you were out of uniform.
"Thomas?"
"The real name's (Y/N) (L/N). And I'm a historian from the future. Nice to meet you Azumane."

Heart of Cultivation
Book one is now available for purchase or download through Kindle Unlimited! Jian was a prodigy, at least until he discovered that his path of cultivation had hit a dead end almost as soon as it began. That was all years ago, though. He has long since resigned himself to his fate and prepared himself for a dull, ordinary, but happy life. Stunted cultivation or no, he's clever enough to carve out his own comfortable niche. Unfortunately, not all of the matters from his past have been settled. When a reckless mistake threatens to cost him everything, Jian will have to prove that he's desperate enough to rise to the occasion. Or that he's capable of avoiding the consequences. This is an affectionate reconstruction of the xianxia genre. I will be deploying the tropes from the genre that I enjoy in a framework that I think makes sense. The story updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes other days.
