"Come on," (F/N) said, "it'll be fun."
You shook your head and looked away from him. "No, I want to stay in my bed and never leave."
He sighed. "But it's my birthday and you said that once I turned twenty-one, we would go out drinking. You said that you would help me pick up someone."
"You mean help you sleep with someone," you mumbled into your pillow.
"Come on, please," he begged. "People break up all of the time."
"I've never," you whispered. You turned to face him, your hair was blocking your vision but you could see see his eyes. "I've only ever dated one person, and you know that I've been with him since the beginning of the second year of high school, and I'm 21 now. It's been six year since I've ever thought of another person, beside you and my family."
"But it's my birthday," he pouted. "Why did you have to break up the week of my birthday? How come you couldn't break up later."
"I've been asking myself that too."
He sighed and sat down on your bed, pushing you over to the side a bit. He moved the hair from your face and said, "I don't really know what to say to you because, as you know, I've never held a boyfriend for less than a month. But right now, you are fitting all of the break up scenarios in movies, the one with the messy hair and haven't showered in days. I know you and your are not that type of person."
He stood up and ripped the blanket off of you and pulled you up in a sitting position. "So, get your ass out of bed and take a shower. You better be up and dressed nicely in half an hour, or i'll bring up a bucket of cold water and pour it on your head."

After you came down in a pair of jeans and t-shirt (F/N) shook his head, grabbed your hand, and dragged you upstairs. You sat on the bed as he went through your closet. He eventually picked out a light pink dress that stopped at your mid thigh.
"No."
He looked at the dress and frowned. "Why not? I really like this one."
"It was the dress I wore to our first date."
(F/N) tossed the dress on your floor. He dug around your closet for another couple of minutes, and pulled out a white dress with red designs on it. "How about this one? Red and white is nice, hot."
You shook your head and slumped back into your bed. "First anniversary."
"How about this one?" He pulled out a sleeveless plum dress and held it up to you, closing one eye as his did.
"Third anniversary."
His eye twitched and threw the dress onto the ground. You laughed and sat up cross legged up on your bed. (F/N) turned around and went through your closet once again.
"And this?" he said annoyed. He held up a black dress that hung just above your knee. "What was this dress, huh? The first day you saw him? Or was it the first time you ate a taco together? How about the first time you tripped and he helped you up?"
You took a closer look at the dress. "Actually, that's my funeral dress."
The annoyed look washed off his face, "Oh, I guess you can't wear this one either."
You shrugged and stood up. Taking the dress from his hand, you held it up to your neck. "No, it's okay. I'm dead inside anyways, so I guess it's fitting."
~~~~~
Once you walked into the bar, both of your IDs checked, (F/N) immediately got attention from a few boys and began talking to them, leaving you alone.
You gave him a look of betrayal, before he got completely consumed by the boys in the bar.
You looked around the bar. There wasn't many people there expect for the group of boys that consumed your best friend, and a few smaller grouped scattered around the bar.
Your only friend ditched you to be with hot guys.
You walked up to one of the stools at the bar and sat down, leaning on the countertop. It looked like the bartenders just changed because there was no one behind the counter.
Your leg was shaking up and down and your fingers tapped on the top of the counter. You didn't like to drink alcohol, so it didn't matter if the bartender was there or not. You furrowed your eyebrows when you saw a brown square napkin placed in front of you.
You looked up and saw the bartender. He looked a little older than you, and his hair was short and dark. He had a smile on his face, and he was cleaning the table with the white cloth.
"Do you want something to drink?" he asked.
You shook your head. "I don't like alcohol."
He laughed. "Then why are you here? No offence or anything."
You waved your hand. "It's okay. You see the guy over there?" You turned in your seat and pointed to a group of guys crowded by a table. You pointed to your friend who was the only one wearing a blue blazer.
"The one with the really high hair?" he asked.
You nodded. "He dragged me here because it's his birthday, but ditched me once we entered. So, I'm going to stay here until he leaves with one of those guys over there or gets really drink and I have to drive him back to my place."
"You're a good friend."
"I know."
"I'm Daichi."
"(Y/N)."
He smiled, and got a glass from the stack and flipped it right side up. "Are you sure you don't want something to drink? No alcohol."
"No alcohol?" you questioned, raising an eyebrow. "Are you going to give me a soft drink?"
He shrugged. "Maybe, unless you want something that I just made up."
"I definitely want the drink you made up," you laughed.
Daichi nodded and flipped the glass in his hand, making you laugh at the cliche bartender trick. He started to fill the glass with random non-alcoholic drinks, occasionally stopping and serving other people drinks.
After he was done, we placed a slice of lemon on the rim of the cup and served it to you on the brown square napkin. The overall drink was a dark liquid that had a lemon on the rim and a pink umbrella.
"Do you even know what you put in this?" You asked. You cautious grabbed the drink and put it up to your mouth.
"No," he laughed, "but there is no alcohol in it, so it's safe to drink....maybe."
You took a sip of it.
"How is it?" he asked. His eyes were hopeful and his eyebrows were raised in expectation.
"Oh, it's disgusting."
He laughed and took the drink from your hand. "How about a club soda?"
"Sounds good."
He smiled at you and filled another clean glass with club soda. "I really like your dress."
You took the glass. "Thank you. I wear it when I go to funerals."
Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.
