"Tsukishima!"

Yamaguchi stood in front of his best friend with his hands clenched tightly in fists. He had a defensive stance with one leg further back and his weight evenly distributed between them. His jaw visibly tightened causing his teeth to grind together.

"What the hell? What were you thinking?! Have you gone blind?!"

Tsukishima stood unwavering in front of him in a neutral position. Hands on his pockets, feet shoulder width apart and back in a relaxed slouch.

"Do you realize what you have done? (Y/N) is our friend, your soulmate, and now you've just tossed her aside like a typical Oikawa. You—"

"She's not my soulmate."

Yamaguchi shifted his weight on his back leg and let his arms go slack. He let out an exasperated sigh and shook his head.

"Your connection with her was unlike anything. Are you really just going to throw that away?"

Tsukishima lowered his head with a sigh. The weather wasn't reflecting the situation at all. The sun was blaring down with no clouds to block it's way making Tsukishima overheat under his jacket.

"If she was my soulmate," Tsukishima turned as he spoke, waking in the other direction, "the string wouldn't have snapped."

Tsukishima walked away from his friend, leaving him red with rage and shaking from his clenched muscles.

"It wouldn't have broken if you didn't pull a stunt like that."

It was raining now. A large contrast to what it had been the day before. Strong wind made it colder and harder to control your footing. Lighting and thunder could be seen or heard every few seconds.

(Y/N), unlike most people at this moment, sat on her knees in the middle of a large open field. Lighting struck close enough to where she could see smoke rising from chard grass.

It was grey. Everything was grey and dark as if the sun had set hours ago. It was only just past noon but the dark and heavy clouds blocked out any light (Y/N) would hope see. The trees and the grass seemed to be drained of colour, flowers that she knew to be yellow, blue or purple were grew

She tilted her head to the sky letting the water surround her like an innocent bubble trying to shield her from any pain or sorrow. She felt like a kid in her own world in that moment.

(Y/N) couldn't feel the rain any longer. Her body became numb to the cold and the pins and needles caused by the rain. But she could still feel the warmth of hot tears that bled from her eyes.

"When does the eye of a hurricane come?"

She just wanted some peace.

"Even for a moment."

"What were you thinking? Standing in the middle of a field during a storm. You could've died from the lightning."

Yamaguchi placed a cold cloth on (Y/N)'s forehead as she laid down on her bed. Her temperature was overbearing and probably made her feels worse than she already did.

"That would be preferred in this moment. It would end my pain."

Yamaguchi stared into (Y/N)'s eyes. They on the other hand were unfocused and staring off into space. Yamaguchi reached for her hand that was rested against her stomach and held it tightly.

"Everything will be okay (Y/N). Everything will be just fine."

(Y/N) swallowed down a choke that was about to leave her throat as a year fell down her cheekbone and into the pillow. She turned her head and focused her (E/C) eyes on her friend.

"Yamaguchi, I feel colourblind."

Yamaguchi leaned forward and tilted his head slightly, asking her to continue.

"I feel as though I've been deprived of seeing any colour."

(Y/N) placed her other hand on their clasped ones and looked toward the floor.

"Everything feels so grey."

Tsukishima didn't talk to (Y/N). (Y/N) didn't talk to Tsukishima. Yamaguchi ran back and forth between the two, trying to console her and trying to convince him.

Eventually, after weeks of trying, he gave up, realizing that it couldn't be done and stopped trying. He focused on the one who needed him most. Tsukishima was blue, but not grey.

Yamaguchi say next to (Y/N) on the steps of her porch. Both were zoned out and too tired to do much more. So they sat in the sun quietly until (Y/N) spoke up.

"Have you found them yet?" she asked silently.

"Found who?" Yamaguchi asked back, shifting his arms from behind him to in front supporting his weight on his knees.

"Your soulmate," she asked still staring off into space. "They could be anyone. I just hope they treat you well."

Yamaguchi look at (Y/N)'s side profile, zoning out as he did so.

"Anyone?" he asked.

He looked at (Y/N) as she nodded and tilted her head up to the sky, watching as clouds began to build together and cover the sun. A shadow was cases along the road and made the day seem later than it was.

"Ya, anyone. But I guess it depends on who you prefer." (Y/N) closed her eyes, listening to the start of rainfall as in landing on the uncovered streets and sidewalks.

"(Y/N), is everything still grey?"

Opening her eyes (Y/N) looked out at the soaking roads from the safety of her porch until she stood up and walked to the middle of the road.

Yamaguchi stared at her as she squinted her eyes to stare at the sky.

"I haven't seen a yellow sky. Thick grey walls still surround me and until I see yellow. Everything will always be grey."

In its upwards angle, (Y/N)'s head tilted to look at Yamaguchi sideways. Tears poured out of her (E/C) eyes.

"(Y/N), how are you these days?"

It sounded scripted as it came out of his mouth. As if a ping came out of a phone with that following message.

How are you these days?

(Y/N) frowned and looked back up at the clouds. The thick colour of a rainy day hung over them.

"Grey."

While streets began to flood ever so slightly, (Y/N) seemed to blend in with the atmosphere. Yamaguchi stayed with her through her ups and downs. There where no ups and the rain didn't stop for days.

The forecast said the sun was suppose to be out by the end of the day, likely around sunset. Hopefully shining through the sorrows (Y/N) felt.

It had been weeks.

Yamaguchi held (Y/N) under the umbrella as they sat on the roof of his house waiting for the sun.

The rain had drastically slowed down compared to the strength of it this morning. It soon completely stopped leaving the two to sit under the light grey sky.

Yamaguchi flipped over two lawn chairs, drying them off, and making sure they were good to sit in.

As the two leaned back in the plastic chairs, (Y/N) looked to the skyline where a bit of light was peeling through. As it got brighter, Yamaguchi squinted through it, settling his eyes on (Y/N) who's face was being lightened by the brightness of the sun.

The sky was a dark pink with purple and orange surrounding it.

"Red sky at morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night sailors delight."

(Y/N) stood up from her seat and stalked to the edge of the roof. Her hands pushed her up into the ledge where she sat, soaking in the warms.

Yamaguchi took a seat next to her and stared at the setting sun. It glowed a calm red and the two sat in silence. Admiring the beauty of it all.

The red light reflected off the translucent line, giving it a weak pink hue instead of its invisible grey that it had been for so long.

Their hands felt warm as a weak tug pulled at them. Yamaguchi looked at (Y/N) again. She face was tinted with the slightest shade of pink as she looked at the space between them.

"You said anyone, right?" Yamaguchi asked weakly not taking his eyes off her.

"Ya," she nodded, Her voice a similar tone to his own in that moment. "I guess I did."

Yamaguchi wouldn't turn his eyes anywhere else as they focused on the red his of her cheeks.

"H—hey, (Y/N)?"

"Ya?" she asked, still looking at her hands.

She felt like gagging. Not in a bad way, but the feeling she felt was so overbearing she couldn't handle it. She felt as if she spoke another word bubbles filled with butterflies would pour out instead of words. She felt as if she had been punched in the throat with an iron fist.

"How are you these days?" his words came out rough As he tumbled over his words and luckily not the ledge.

"Grey," she said.

"But after a storm there's a rainbow."

Finally looking up, she met his eyes with such power and feeling it made up for the times she couldn't even bring herself to do so.

"And I think pink is my favorite colour."
