"You cannot tell her."

Akaashi looked at at her. "Why not? How do I know that you're her mother? You could be some kind of witch."

She raised her eyebrow in a perfect arch. Mist was still circling around their feet as she spoke. "And being a witch would be what? A bad thing?"

Akaashi was silent.

"The girl you claim to love, my daughter, is a witch," she said. She took a step closer to Akaashi. Though he was taller than her, it felt like she was the one looming over him. "If you think that witches are so horrible than why are you even near my daughter?"

"I never said that being a witch was a horrible thing to be!" He defended. "(Y/N) saved my life, so I owe her mine."

"Is that why you're with her then?" she questioned. Akaashi glared at her. This women is too manipulative and cunning to be (Y/N)'s mother. She was putting words into his mouth that were never there. "Do you think that you owe her something? Sometimes my daughter is too kind hearted for her own good."

Akaashi cautiously took a step back from her. She gave off a threatening aroura, like she was at the top of the food chain. Even if (Y/N) wanted to start a new there, he knew that once he came back to their living space they were going and never looking back.

"She wanted me to go with her," Akaashi said calmly. He knew not to agitate witches, sometimes their emotions controlled their power. Even at her young age, (Y/N) was one of the most experienced witches he'd had even met and it happened to her as well. "She came back for me. Yes, I do owe her my life only because she was the light when everything was dark."

She held her head up high and gave him a smiled. "You choose your words carefully, I can see that."

He nodded and took another step back. Even though at this moment she was showing him some ounce of kindness, he still didn't trust the smiled that was given to him.

Her face turned hard, and her lips curled into a frown. "(Y/N) should have let you to die."

She raised her hand and an ice shard erupted from the tips of her fingers pointing directly at Akaashi's heart.

(Y/N) woke up to find Akaashi not there. There was a dent in the bed, meaning to he did go to sleep and the bed was still warm, so he couldn't have been gone for long. (Y/N) furrowed her eyebrows. Normally, she would be the one to wake up first and would turn to see him still sleeping.

She slowly got out of bed and went to the bathroom, a bucket of water was sitting on the counter. (Y/N) reached for the water to wash her face, but once her finger tip hit the top of the water, it turned to ice.

(Y/N) flinched back. This had never happened before. She had always had complete control over her powers...until she came here —to this village.

She wanted to leave.

Not being able to control her ice powers was never a problem, and she didn't want it to become one. She could accidentally hurt someone; she could hurt Akaashi.

(Y/N) stepped out of the bathroom and looked around the main room. Everything was still in it's bags except Akaashi's armor which laid on the floor beside their bed. She frowned at the sight. Why would he go without his armor? Without it his almost completely vulnerable.

(Y/N) took comfort in the fact that he did bring his sword though

At least he's not a complete idiot.

She packed the armor tightly into one of their bags and took them both outside to the stable where their horse was. She laid out food and water that she found in the shed next to the stable and woke up the horse.

"Sorry buddy, "she said rubbing the horse's mane. "We're going to travel for just a little longer."

The horse neighed and began drinking the water.

"Leaving so soon?" a voice asked from behind her.

(Y/N) turned and saw the old woman's grandson. He was in the same clothing as he was yesterday and a small smiled played on his lips.

"Unfortunately," (Y/N) said. She wanted to get out of this village quickly, but she didn't want to show any disrespect for the people who gave them shelter. She bowed forward slightly. "Thank you for showing Akaashi and I such great hospitality."

The boy tilted his head slightly to her. "Anytime. Do you need me to look after your horse while you and your friend prepare for your journey. I can make sure he eats and is ready for travel."

(Y/N) smiled at him. "Yes, please. He seemed to have forgotten that we were leaving early in the morning and wandered off somewhere. I better find him before something bad happens."

"Take your time," he said. He walked up to your horse and started petting it. "The morning stroll will leave soon if you want to wait."

(Y/N) smiled at him. "Perhaps, we'll see."

(Y/N) wondered on the path that lead through the forest to the well. She spotted Akaashi in moments and was about to yell for him to come over, but then she spotted her. A woman was standing very close to Akaashi.

Her smiled faded. She looked exactly like she had when (Y/N)'s father and her left. Her hair was cut the same way, everything about her features were the same, but her eyes were cold.

(Y/N) cautiously made her way closer to them trying not to make a sound, but it was hard with sticks and twigs scattered everywhere on the ground.

Akaashi kept stepping away from the woman who was wearing your mother's face.

"Sometimes my daughter is too kind hearted for her own good," the woman said.

(Y/N) flinched. Her voice even sounded the same. The same voice that sang to you when you had nightmares, the same voice that say 'I love you' everyday.

"She wanted me to go with her. She came back for me. Yes, I do owe her my life only because she was the light when everything was dark."

The woman held her head high. "You choose your words carefully, I can see that." She stepped forward. "She should have let you die."

She raised her hand.

Time froze. (Y/N) knew that gesture too well. She knew it was a sign of attack among witches.

Just as an ice shard left the witch's hand, (Y/N) raises hers. She could feel emotions flood through her body to her fingertips.

Fear, when she knew that Akaashi's life was in her hands.

Anger, when she saw her mother's face on someone who was the opposite for everything her mother stood for. Kindness and love.

And pain, knowing that ending this would result to the feeling of losing her mother again.

A long icicle shot for the fingertips of (Y/N)'s hand. The woman was closer to Akaashi, but (Y/N) was faster. Both of the icicles collide and shattered on impact. Pieces of ice fell to the ground around Akaashi's feet.

"(Y/N)," Akaashi and the woman said at the same time.

Akaashi sped to her side and placed himself between (Y/N) and the women. "Stay away from her."

The women ignored Akaashi and only looked over at her. "(Y/N), it's your mom. I'm sorry that I left you when you were young. Your father and I were having trouble and wanted to keep you out of it. I'm so sorry."

She took a step forward toward (Y/N), but Akaashi pushed her back. "Stay away from her. Even if you are her mother."

"(Y/N)," she said, once again ignoring Akaashi's attempts to keep (Y/N) away from her.

(Y/N) put a hand on Akaashi's shoulder and gently pushed him out of the away. Now he was only covering a bit her away from the women instead of fully covering her.

"You are not my mother," (Y/N) said. Tears were threatening to fall from her eyes, but her voice was cold as ice. It was exactly like losing her mother again. "My mother was kind and good, she would not hurt a fly. You my wear my mother's face, but you will never be my mother."

The woman flinched at her harsh words.

"And my father and mother loved each other until their final breath."

The woman screamed and thrusted her hand out in front of her. Small shards of ice came flying out of her fingertips. (Y/N) shoved Akaashi out of the way and raised her hand. A glowing force surrounded her hand, shimmering in the light. As fast as the ice shards came they passed through the force and turned into harmless snow.

(Y/N) pushed her hand outwards and the force moved from her hand to the woman, still sending ice shards. The force reached her fingertips and passed through the rest of her body. The woman's arm fell to her side. She fell on her knees and slowly disintegrated into snow. The wind picked up and carried the snow away.

"My goodness," a girl said. She was no more than ten years old.

(Y/N) turned around and saw the few people who lived in the village standing there. Their eyes were widened with shock and the mouths unhinged.

She turned to where she was pushed Akaashi down and lent him a hand. He gladly took it and gave her the same look as the villagers had.

"Remind me to never anger you," he smiled.

(Y/N) turned to face the rest of the villagers. She expected them to start shouting at her and tell her that she was a monster. But their eyes read nothing but some sort of happiness.

The girl who spoke raised her hand, her palm facing the sky. A diamond shape crystal of ice hovered over her hand. She closed it and it was gone.

They were witches. A whole village of witches.

(Y/N) blinked at them and turned to face Akaashi. "We should go. That thing was probably a shapeshifter or something that wants power. They can take other witches powers away if their vulnerable enough."

Akaashi looked at the new information, and then looked towards the villagers that formed a semi-circle around the two of you. They were looking at (Y/N) with wonder in their eyes. "We could stay."

(Y/N) raised her eyebrows.

"Listen to me," he said. "We found a village with people just like you. You would never have to hide who you are and never fear using your powers. They can teach you how to use you powers, control them."

(Y/N) thought for a moment. A village where she won't have to hide herself because mostly everyone was like her. Different. "Will you stay with me?"

"I'd go anywhere with you," he laughed. "You are the one who keeps me alive."
