《Haikyuu!! AUs (x Reader)》Sugawara Kōshi - You Belong With Me

You were, in no way, considered popular at school. In high school terms, you're the geek with hipster glasses and a high IQ.
It was about 6:00 pm, and like any proper student, you were studying for upcoming exams that took place in a few weeks. You had a simple chandelier a few feet above the foot of your bed for a light source as you worked on your (Subject) practice sheets.
Out of the corner of your eye you noticed something shift. You peeled your attention away from the work sheets to your window. Your neighbour, Sugawara, had his curtain over to one side of the window.
He was talking on the phone and didn't seem too happy, he looked extremely frustrated.
You pulled out a large notebook and sharpie and wrote something down.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
You're on the phone with your girlfriend
She's upset, she's going off about something that you said'
Cause she doesn't get your humour like I do.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Once he ended the call, he looked out the window to see you holding up your message.
You OK?
He took one of his sharpies from his desk, and opened the notebook that was previously sitting on his bed.
Tired of Drama was his reply.
You flipped the page and wrote a quick reply.
Sorry :(
He shrugged slightly and got up. While you were writing something else, he closed the curtain before he could see your next message. But you still pathetically held up the message anyway.
You sighed, and closed your notebook.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday night.
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like.
And she'll never know your story like I do.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
You took your phone and plugged it into the speakers you had on your desk. You started playing music by (F/B {fave band}) and (F/A {fave artist}).
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
But she wears short skirts / I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain / And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
You started to go through your closet and wearing different styles of clothing. Going from preppy, to extreme nerd, and goth, before changing back into your loose hanging shirt that had 'Junior Jewels' written on the front, along with a few dozen signatures in various colours.

Then you proceeded to dance around your room like a maniac.
You grabbed a hairbrush and started singing along with the music, even acting as though you were performing for an audience by pretending to play different instruments.
In the house next to yours, a boy in his last year of high school moved his bedroom curtain slightly to get a look at you in all your weirdness. Sugawara couldn't help but laugh when you tried to do what looked like the moon walk.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
If you could see/That I'm the one
Who understands you/ Been here all along
So, why can't you see /You belong with me,
You belong with me.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
The next day, you sat on a park bench just outside of your house waiting for the school bus to pick you up. It was slightly windy out, so you had a light sweater on over your uniform, but that didn't stop the wind from blowing your (H/C) hair around.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Walk in the streets with you in your worn out jeans
I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be
Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself,"Hey, isn't this easy?"
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Sugawara stepped out of his house wearing his school uniform. His silver hair blew into his face. He walked over and sat next to you at the bus stop. When you looked at him, he gave you a large smile as if to say hello.
While taking some of your hair that has blown into your face, he makes a quick move to place it back in position. You continue your conversation, and he told you about his volleyball game and you tell him about working with the cheer group for school sports teams. His smile grew bigger as the conversation progresses.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
And you've got a smile
That could light up this whole town / I haven't seen it in a while
Since she brought you down.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
A red sport car pulled up in front of you two, and the girl driving it was Sugawara's girlfriend. His bright smiles dropped slightly when he sees her. She has (Opposite of your colour) hair and enough makeup to paint a mural. She was a cheerleader for Karasuno's football team, but often goes to his games to act as the team's personal cheer squad.

Sugawara smiled slightly at you before entering the obnoxiously red car where the (Opposite of your Colour hair) proceeded to have a quick make out session with him just to irk you. Then she threw Sugawara back in his chair, and shoots you a look before speeding away to school.
You sighed and rolled your eyes.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
You say you're fine I know you better than that.
Hey, what you doing with a girl like that?
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
There was a boys volleyball game coming up tonight, followed by a formal dance tomorrow. You and some other members had to collect the notice makers and the rest of the cheer group members.
It was mayhem in the gym. There were loud cheers and in synch rhythm from the sound makers of your group and the opposing team, but the great beats and cheers were always ruined by the off key, screeching from the 'cheerleader' on Karasuno's bench. You looked to Yachi, Kiyoko, Ukai, and Takeda, only to find out that they had soundproof earmuffs resting on their heads. Lucky them.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
If you could see / That I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along / So, why can't you see
You belong with me.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Karasuno had won the game. The cheer group you had been a part of, was going crazy and the boys on the court were either cheering with their teammates, or sulking in a corner.
Sugawara jogged up to the bench to meet with his girlfriend only to find that she was attempting (and failing) to seduce Tsukishima. The two started to argue and because of the notice, you couldn't make out any words. But by the look on Sugawara face —which was a pissed off and depressed look— it seems they broke it off.
You stood in the stands unable to comfort him.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Oh, I remember you driving to my house
In the middle of the night / I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're 'bout to cry / I know your favourite songs
And you tell me about your dreams / Think I know where you belong
Think I know it's with me
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
It was the day after, the day of the dance, and you were once again at home studying. But it wasn't like you were planning to go anyways.
In the house over, Sugawara was getting ready in a suit and bow tie. He looked over at you, and through the windows he held up a written note.
You Going Tonight?
No, Studying
Your reply left him slightly upset.
Wish You Were
He grabbed his suit jacket and left his bedroom to go to the school.
You moved the study notes on your bed around to reveal the note that you had failed to show him before.
I love you
And so, you got ready.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Can't you see / That I'm the one
Who understands you? / Been here all along.
So, why can't you see / You belong with me.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
You walked through the entrance that was decorated with a white arch over the double doors. When people saw you in your pale flowing dress, they stopped for a second to see what you looked like without your nerdy glasses. Truth be told, you looked hot.
But when Sugawara saw you, he didn't hesitate to approach you in the middle of the dance floor.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Standing by and waiting at your backdoor.
All this time how could you not know, baby?
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Before he got to you, his ex attempted to attract him, but was brushed off to the side.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
You belong with me.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
He stood in front of you as you unfolded the paper that you had held tightly in your hand.
He did as well, with a piece of paper he took from his suit pocket
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
Have you ever thought just maybe...
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
The two of you took steps to stand closer together and leaned in to gently take your lips with his.
The girl a few metres behind him stormed off shoving people out of her way, but made sure not to wrinkle her showy red dress.
•──────⋅☾ ☼ ☽⋅──────•
You belong with me.
