Marisol's POV- March 2018

"Knock, knock!"

"Come in" I called out.

The door opened and in stepped Lucy. A smile appeared on her pretty face as she raised her arms up.

"Good afternoon!"

Her hair was up in a ponytail and it looked like she had been up for a while. In other words, her hair was not a mess, she was no longer wearing PJs and her eyes did not look puffy.

"Did you go on a run?" I wondered.

She snorted and proceeded to close the door behind her.

"On a Portos run? Yes. A legit run? No"

"Well you're wearing workout clothes" I noted.

Lucy was not one to lounge around in leggings unless she had to

"It's laundry day"

"Girl, same," I told her.

"Foods downstairs,".

"Is dad up?" I asked.

She nodded.

"Yeah, I brought him food too"

"Let me fix my bed before we go down," I said.

"Take your time"

As I did that, she took a seat on the small couch I had in my room.

"So...Cody Bellinger,"

Oh, I see.

"You're just getting straight to the point," I said.

Lucy was pretty straightforward.

"Is Cody, Angel Eyes?"

She was going to find out eventually.

"Yes," I disclosed.

She hummed.

"He stood you up then?"

"Well," I started.

One of her perfect eyebrows raised up.

"It was actually his mom," I told her.

"Explain"

So I told her, everything. Lucy simply just stared at me before commenting.

"What a horrible human being"

To be honest, I just hoped Cody would not get into an argument with his mom over this.

"So did you bump into him?"

She was asking how I was able to reconnect with Cody. Believe it or not, it was pretty hard to bump into an athlete in Los Angeles.

"He's roommates with the guy who Desi is dating" I informed her.

"Who's his roommate?"

"Chris Taylor" I answered.

Her eyes widened a bit

"No fucking way,"

You see, Chris Taylor was Lucy's favorite non-pitcher from the Dodgers.

"Yeah, they've been dating for about 3 weeks," I said.

"So they met during Spring Training?"

"No, apparently they met while he was in LA for FanFest" I answered.

Desi's neighbor was Kike Hernandez, Chris' teammate.

"She deserves to be happy"

"He's smitten over her" I disclosed.

"As one should be"

I laughed and smoothened out the blankets before placing my pillows on the bed.

"You're not letting Cody back in that easily, right?"

She frowned when I said nothing.

"He still stood you up, Mari. Have some respect for yourself"

"His mom made him go on that date," I told her.

"Mari, he is a grown ass man who can make his own decisions. He could have told her no, he didn't have to go"

True.

"He's just as fault as his mom"

I shrugged.

"I'm not telling you to reject the guy. He obviously made a mistake, one he's trying to fix"

She stood up and helped me fluff up my pillows.

"Make him work for it though, you're certainly worth it Marisol"

"My dad doesn't know about this" I disclosed.

She frowned.

"Mari, you tell him everything"

"If he knew, he would not trust Cody" I said.

"You don't trust him, why should your father do it?"

True.

"Lucy, please don't tell him" I begged.

She sighed.

"You will tell him eventually, right?"

"Yes," I confirmed.

"Okay, let's go eat"

As we made our way out of the room and down the stairs, I nudged her.

"So you had lunch with Adrian yesterday" I brought up.

She laughed.

"We're just friends"

They were two incredibly attractive people who happened to both be single.

"Are you sure about that?" I questioned.

She nodded.

"Yeah, I'm sure, Adrian is an attractive guy, I'll admit to that but we don't see each other that way"

What a shame.

"He's actually seeing someone, and she is perfect for him"

"You've met her?" I asked.

"Yeah, he asked if I could keep her company during one of his games"

"And it wasn't awkward?" I questioned.

She smiled.

"Believe it or not Marisol, a guy and a girl can be friends"

Everyone was so certain that Lucy was going to end up with Adrian because of how close those two were. To be honest, I was surprised to learn that they had never kissed or had sex with each other.

"I happen to like being single"

"You deserve to be happy though," I told her.

"Pretty sure you don't need a guy to be happy, Marisol. And I'll have you know that I am the happiest I've been in a long time"

We made our way downstairs and into the kitchen.

"What do you want to drink?" I asked.

"I actually brought us drinks"

I frowned at her.

"Wipe that frown from your face, I got a lot of crap for this""

She gestured at the reusable water bottles next to a box which I will assume had our food.

"You've learned!" I noted.

She smiled.

"It's that or to get scolded by you,"

"Like I told Leo the other day, you're fully capable of washing and carrying your utensils with you," I said.

"Ugh"

"What'd you bring me?" I asked.

"Mango smoothie"

I smiled as she handed me the reusable water bottle

"You really are my bestfriend" I noted as I opened it to reveal that she had asked for whipped cream.

She reached for the box and looked at me.

"So I brought you an Egg and cheese omelet on a crossaint"

"You're the best," I told her.

I had been craving that for a while now.

"Ugh, I love you," I said as she opened the box to reveal that our sandwich croissants had been wrapped not boxed individually in plastic containers.

"I got looks, and I hate you for that"

She still did it, and I was extremely grateful.

"It's the little things" I told her.

"I will never go zero waste Mari"

"And I'm not telling you to, but just this gesture is good enough" I said.

Think about the turles.
