Madeline's POV- New Years Eve 2017
I closed my eyes as I applied a nice amount of setting spray onto my face. Cody and I were going to welcome the New Year at a gala happening at the hotel we were currently staying at. We had spent Christmas in Los Angeles with my family and his and then flown to Paris where we were going to be welcoming the New Year. We would spend a few days in Chandler before heading back to Toronto for the semester.
"I should go shower"
"You should" I replied.
The bed squeaked a bit as Cody got out of it.
"Are you almost done?"
"I just need to curl my hair" I answered.
I looked at him and he smiled.
"You look beautiful"
"I haven't even finished changing" I noted.
"You always look stunning"
I rolled my eyes and reached for my curling iron.
"Go shower" I told him.
He laughed and a few seconds later I heard the bathroom door close. While he was in the shower, I managed to curl my hair. Just as I was adding the last sprays of hairspray onto my hair, Cody walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist.
"I changed my mind, I want to welcome the New Year with you in bed"
He wiggled his eyebrows at me before kissing my cheek.
"Is your lipstick transfer proof?"
"Why don't you find out?" I asked.
Instead, he reached over with his hand and gently pressed his finger against my bottom lip.
"Ehh"
I laughed as he leaned in and pecked my lips. When he pulled away, I reached over and wiped his mouth.
"I'm going to change now"
Cody looked great in a fitted suit, with or without a tie.
"Are you going to watch me struggle with this tie or are you going to help?"
"I'll help" I answered.
I stood up and fixed his tie for him. As I did that, he scrolled through his Insta.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you. Chris and Andi had their reveal brunch"
I looked at his phone and smiled at the picture he was showing me,
"That is the cutest cake ever" I noted.

: 😳 Wait, what?
: OMG!
"It looks like I was the only guy on the team that knew she was pregnant"
"You and Logan Forsythe, Ally his wife was with Andi when she took a bunch of pregnancy tests" I told him.
"Way to ruin my moment babe"
I smiled.
"So did they post pictures already?" I asked.
"I'm scrolling, I'm scrolling"
"Well I want to see too," I said.
His finger stopped scrolling and he looked at me.
"A boy"
"A boy" I repeated.
He nodded.
"Let me see" I told him.

: Congrats man!
You sneaky man
"You should probably change"
I looked at Cody and smiled.
"You can't tell me that kind of information and expect me to go back to what I was doing before" I stated.
He chuckled.
"We could go with my suggestion"
I shook my head.
"No, this dress is too beautiful and needs to be shown off" I told him.
"You're right"
He wrapped his arms around my waist and grinned.
"But I'm just warning you that once we are back I am going to take you on that bad"

"As long as you don't rip my dressed" I reasoned.
"No promises there"
I raised an eyebrow.
"Of course I'm going to be careful. It was an expensive dress...that you did not let me pay for"
He kissed my cheek before letting me go.
"Alright, time for you to change"
I made my way across the room and took the dress off the hanger. My current attire consisted of a pair of spanks and my bra, which explains why Cody could not keep his hands to himself. After unzipping the dress, I pulled it up my body.
"Do you mind helping me zip it up?" I asked Cody.
He looked at my face and slowly nodded.
"Yeah"
I lifted my arm so he could zip up the dress.
"What monster puts a zipper on the side?"
I smiled and reached for the hair pomade I had bought a few days ago.
"Let me fix that hair of yours," I told him.
Cody had thick black slightly wavy hair. At the moment he had let it grown out more than usual so it was a bit crazy. The pomade would help tame his mane.
"You'd look even more handsome if you let me comb your hair back" I noted.
He looked at me.
"Guess I'm looking less handsome tonight"
The look of horror that struck his face when I put 'too much' pomade on his hair.
"Maddy"
I laughed.
"I promise you that it will not be slick back" I stated.
He slowly nodded and let me fix his hair. By the time I finished fixing his hair, it looked like a slightly tamed version of his usual natural hairstyle.
"It's shoe time"
I took a seat on the edge of the bed and slipped on the pair of heels on.
"So are you wearing red under your tight shorts?"
I smiled.
"I'm not" I replied.
He raised an eyebrow and helped me stand up.
"Why not?"
"Because wearing red underwear to start the New Year would insinuate that I want to find love, and I already found love" I answered.
The goofy smile that formed on his face was adorable.
"So what color are your panties?"
I winked at him as I grabbed my clutch and phone.
"Guess you'll find out later" I told him.
"You can't tell me those things and leave!"
I laughed and walked towards the door.
"I just did" I called out.
We made our way out of the room and towards the elevator that took us down to the ground floor where the dinner gala was. Dinner was really yummy, we both had the chicken confit which was chicken with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes.
"I think I just ate a snail"
"What do you mean you think you ate a snail?" I wondered.
He reached for my champagne glass and took a giant gulp. I smiled as he scrunched up his nose and shuddered. Cody had literally been gone for a couple of minutes because he needed to use the bathroom.
"It was offered to me, I couldn't say no"
Thankfully dessert was served so Cody got to scarf down chocolate cake.
"We should go dance"
"You want to dance?" I asked.
He nodded.
"I already looked a fool tonight, there's no reason to be embarrassed about it anymore"
Cody claimed to not know how to dance, but he was actually a pretty good dancer.
"Ok," I said agreeing.
He stood up and stretched out his hand. I took his hand and let him pull me up. Once we were on the dance floor, Maroon 5's What Lovers Do began playing. Cody grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. His rhythm came to him just as the song ended. He pulled me closer to him as Imagine Dragon's Every Night began playing and looked down at me as he sang along to the song.

"I'm the colorless sunrise
That's never good enough
I'm the wind that's in your hair
That ruffles you up
If you could find a reason
You could let me know
I won't blame you
I'll just turn and go"
He twirled me and then pulled me back against him.
"I'm coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night
Coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night
My mind is made up
Nothing can change that
I'm coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night"
I smiled and accepted the kiss he leaned in for.
"Searching to find myself
All I find is you
I can hardly stand myself
So what am I to you?
If you could find a reason
You could let me know
I won't blame you
I'll just turn and go"
I closed my eyes as Cody leaned his head against mine and allowed my body to sway along to the music.
"I'm coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night
Coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night
My mind is made up
Nothing can change that
I'm coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night"
In just a week I would be back to Toronto for the semester and our long distance relationship would continue. It honestly sucked, but something Cody told me last night made me realize everything was going to be ok. He told me, 'It will all be worth it in the end. Sure we won't see each other for a bit, but we have a lifetime to make it up'
"No matter, no matter
No matter what we're facing
It don't matter, it don't matter
'Cause the reason that I'm here
Is the same through all these years
Not changing, not changing
Anything at all"
It's crazy how someone can change your life in a matter of months. Meeting Cody was honestly a blessing, to think I almost didn't call him. What started off as a simple friendship blossomed into a beautiful relationship.
"I'm coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night
Coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night
My mind is made up
Nothing can change that
I'm coming home to you
Every night, every night, every night, every night"
I opened my eyes as the DJ began speaking,
"There are 5 minutes left until the New Years. Significant others, begin to pair up"
Cody squeezed my hand.
"Let's go outside?"
I nodded and followed him out. Once we were outside, he helped me put on his suit jacket on since it was cold.
"It's crazy how fast the year went"
That's true.
"A little more than 6 months ago, you were graduating from college and now you're about to start your second semester of Grad School"
He was right, a lot could happen in 6 months.
"You didn't think you were going to get called up to the majors" I brought up.
He chuckled.
"Yeah"
"Look at you now though, Mr. NL rookie of the year" I boasted.
He slowly nodded.
"A World Series ring would have been nice"
I reached over and squeezed his bicep.
"Just imagine, if your first year in the majors looked like that then what is to come?" I stated.
"You're right"
I smiled.
"I'm always right" I teased.
He put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him as we heard people yell that there was 1 minute left until the New Year.
"I decided that I'm ripping that dress off you when we get back to our room"
He grinned as I smacked his stomach. We were in public, and a guy was literally across from us. The guy ended up being a photographer hired for the gala, so I'm sure he pretended not to hear what Cody had told me. Once the picture was taken, he excused himself to take pictures of other couples.
"12"
"You do realize he heard you" I told him.
"11, 10, 9"
Cody shrugged.
"8"
I smiled as he wrapped his arms around me.
"7, 6"
"Man, I got lucky"
You sure did Cody, but so did I.
"5,4"
"Guess we both got lucky" I stated.
"3,2"
"I guess we did"
"1"
I laughed as he jumped a bit at the sound of fireworks going off and people cheering for the start of the New Year.
"I love you"
"I guess I love you too" I replied.
He smiled and leaned in. I closed my eyes and enjoyed my first New Years kiss. We both pulled away, and just enjoyed our presence for a couple of minutes. It was Cody who shifted and nudged his nose against mine making me open my eyes.
"My back"
We were angled in a weird position.
"Happy New Years Cody" I told him.
He grinned.
"Happy New Years Madeline"
I accepted another kiss he leaned in for and kissed his cheek as he pulled away.
"We can go to our room, right?"
"Yes, we can" I confirmed.
To my surprise, Cody picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.
"Cody, I swear if you rip this dress I'll" I began saying.
He cut me off,
"You'll do what?"
I smiled as he hissed when I smacked his behind.
"That was slightly arousing"
He then proceeded to pat my behind after we were in the elevator. Thankfully no one was in there, so the silence was not awkward.
"My room key is in my butt pocket"
"Which one?" I asked.
"Find out"
I didn't feel anything when I smacked his right cheek, so I checked the left pocket. There was nothing there.
"You just wanted me to feel you up, didn't you?" I questioned.
"Maybe"
I checked his front pockets and pulled a key out.
"Alright, open the door up for both of us"
I did as told and smiled as I landed on the bed. Cody closed the door and put the do not disturb sign on the other side of the door before making his way over as I took my heels off. By the time he climbed the bed, I had removed his suit jacket off myself. He was pantless and shoeless. He straddled me and leaned down for a kiss. I turned my head as the kiss got heated and he began to get handsy.
"Cody, you better not rip my dress" I warned.
He tugged on the zipper and frowned.
"Babe"
I lifted my arm so he could unzip it again. When it did not work, I tried to unzip it. Maybe Cody was just being impatient. Nope, it was stuck. I sighed and looked up at him.
"Rip it, but be gentle," I told him.
He grinned.
"I'll buy you a new dress"
Thankfully, instead of ripping my dress he tried again. This time it unzipped and once I was out of the dress he tossed it onto the floor. I grabbed him from his tie and connected our mouths while at the same time wrapping my legs around his waist. My hand worked on unbuttoning every button on his shirt and that was when I pulled away so he could take it off.
"You've got too many clothes on, let's take something off"
Before I could react, he tore my bra off of me. This was not the first time he had done something like this.
"Cody" I scolded.
He simply grinned.
"Whoops"
It's a good thing I loved him.

"Fear is only as deep as the mind allows, and the only thing we have to fear is fear itself” -Travelling Poet "It was on a night, ever so dark, that I truly found out what horror was. The way of the profound means nothing, in fact, is not even considered a spec of dust in front of true strength. No mere mortal nor a mere god could achieve such strength, much less rival it. In fact, it wasn't this tyrannical strength I feared so much, it is the one who holds it. For a Change - A Slice of Life LitRPG
Change is constant. Starting over without your own memories? Connected to some System AI? Probably a pretty big change. Join Monday March as she attempts to deal with these changes and many others in a fantasy future with magic, monsters, AIs, and dating. Notes / Expectations: - About the writing style - Almost always First Person past tense (aside from the prologue), Chapters are short by design. Also, I'm not rushing to the conclusion, it's there, I'm in no hurry. - Genres - Fantasy is the most obvious umbrella, Action, Comedy, Romance, Psychological and everything else that makes a character into a comprehensive person will likely crop up, but won't be the main focus, at least not for hundreds of pages - Tags - Dungeon, Gender Bender (closer to gender themes), Post Apocalyptic and a few others might be a valid fit, but anything that doesn't fit most chapters will be set aside tag wise for now. Possible updates in the future if needed. - Content Warnings - While I want to write this story as accessible and friendly, sometimes a narrative gets messy, and sometimes people are naked, or get hurt either physically or mentally. Best to be prepared. As for cussing, well, our main character will avoid it. - Initial posting schedule is once a week, updates to the schedule will be posted here or in chapter notes.

(Re)Install
After his death, Garry, AKA Gaz, is summoned by a nameless goddess to another world and tasked with a very important mission, the main characters sets out to travel around in search of a way to accomplish his objectives and live happily ever after. The catch? The mission is to save the same goddess, who've been sealed away for all eternity in who knows where. Having little to no energy left, she was unable to create a decent blessing, so Gaz is left with a weak body in a savage world that he knows nothing about. Also, did i mention he wasn't reincarnated as a human? Neither as a beast? Well...His actual body might actually not be that bad. As long as he survives the first day, of course.-------------Okay, some of you might know from Insania Online, some don't, so might as well explain it here. This is a Re: (ish) style story, with a Scifi (ish) setting and some fantasy (ish) assets (precision is overrated). This is kind of a side project I will work while I take a break from insania. This is a crazy idea i had thanks to a certain game's trailer, and decided to write it. Even if it starts fairly serious, it will probably have a lot of wacky comedy, so don't say you haven't been warned and don't try to take it too seriously. Really. If you are expecting a dramatic and heavy story, this is very probably not what you want(who knows? I'm just starting it...).
