"You're leaving? Tomorrow??" I swallowed nervously, running my hands through my hair and began to pace the room. "You can't leave... you're... you're my friend!" I exclaimed to her, biting the inside of my cheek.
"I'm sorry Peter, I have to return to my family and culture," Shuri replied. She held her hand out and placed it at the side of my face. "It'll be okay," She assured me. "Harley seems nice. He can keep you company once you start speaking to him."
I nodded, taking deep breaths. "Okay," I replied after swallowing one more time. "Okay," I repeated, rubbing my chest and leaning into her hand. "I'll miss you," I told her with my voice cracking slightly.
Shuri smiled a bit. "I'll miss you too," She answered, her hand going from my cheek to running through my hair. "You'll be okay, bellhead." The way she said the nickname was a lot softer and way less aggressive than Wade, causing it to seem more like a pet name than a tease name. I only liked the word when it was on Shuri's lips.
It caused me to let out a sad laugh. You know... one of those forced laughs that you do in a sad situation. I decided to not spend my last days with her mourning over her leaving, and instead try and cherish them to the very last moment. "Want to go get ice cream?" I asked her after a sniffle. I wasn't crying, I just sometimes start to sniff when I'm sad.
"Sure," She replied with a smile, grabbing onto my hand and leading me out of her room and into the hallway. We began to walk towards the lobby.
Ice cream was a blast. We ended up eating just a bunch of it, since we didn't have lunch. We started to feel sick, and then I threw up in the alleyway on our walk home. Shuri said that I looked like a drunk. We were laughing all the way home, where we decided to prank Wade. We ordered Friday to say creepy stuff around him, and made him think that Friday was a crazy stalker robot.

His reaction was priceless, his shocked and scared face and posture made me laugh so hard. He ended up calling Tony, which is where we had to call it off. Tony came down anyways and gave Shuri and I a big scolding, before calling us to dinner.
That night we ended up eating a full Avengers dinner, literally everyone got back. It was so fun, I learned so much about everybody. It might as well be one of the best nights I had since the attack.
Until Steve brought up the new sleeping arrangements.
"So we've decided that Shuri and Wade are going to stay in the same room, and Peter and Harley are going to stay in a separate room," Steve told all of us.
What? I thought to myself, feeling sick to my stomach. Why? Harley is Wade's friend, why do I have to stay with Harley? Can't I stay with Shuri? I looked down at my plate, feeling sad. I can't even talk to Harley. At least I can talk to Wade.
"Cool," Harley replied, seeming a lot cooler about it. Now Wade and Shuri are going to become a couple and leave me as a third wheel with Harley, who I can't even talk to!! I exhaled deeply, running my fingers through my hair.
"Sweet," Wade answered, taking a bite of his mashed potatoes. I rolled my eyes. He's only happy because he gets to spend Shuri's last night with her. Stupid. I took an aggressive bite of my green beans, refusing to make eye contact with anyone.
Shuri must've noticed, because under the table she grabbed my hand and started rubbing circles on my palm with her thumb. I looked at her gratefully, and she gave a small smile in return.
It's okay, I spent all day with a Shuri anyways. I guess Wade gets a turn. I sighed, but accepted the truth, looking over at Harley. Besides, Harley seems really nice. Maybe I can talk to him soon. I smiled and took a soft bite of my mashed potatoes, happy with the outcome.
