"Wake up bellhead, breakfast is ready," Wade's voice spoke through the music in my ears, causing me to stir awake. I rubbed my eyes for a second, then looked at Wade with confusion about the nickname. "It's for the ringing in your ears, dumbass. Now get up."
I flipped him off as I stood up, stretching a bit.
I walked with Wade to the dining room, where there was breakfast set out amongst the chairs. "Morning boys!" Steve called, seemingly making eggs on the stove.
It smells so good. I seated myself, staring at the plate in front of me. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. Paradise. I began to eat hungrily.
Shuri came walking over, seating herself next to me. "Morning Peter," She greeted. I smiled back at her, mouth full of eggs and bacon. Shuri laughed, then looked down at my toast. "Don't you want butter on your toast?" She asked me.
I looked down at my food, realizing there was nothing on the toast. I looked back up at Shuri, nodding. She smiled. "Hey Steve! Peter would like some butter please," She called over.
"Oh!" Steve replied, walking over to the fridge and grabbing a butter stick and a small plate to place it on. He also grabbed a butter knife, then walked over to the table and set it down. I looked up at Steve gratefully. "Hm, such a sweet child," Steve hummed to me, ruffling my hair.
"Gay bitch," I heard Wade say under his breath. I glared at him and flicked his knee under the table, causing him to jolt. He glared right back at me and then flicked me in the ear. The sound so close to my ear caused the ringing to increase in volume.

I dropped my fork on my plate, making a clang. I placed both my hands on the ear Wade had flicked, wincing with pain. "You okay, Pete?" Steve called from the kitchen.
"Asshole," Shuri spat. "Mr Rogers, Wade flicked Peter in the ear, obviously causing some sort of ringing to occur."
Wade looked back at me, realizing what he'd done. Surprisingly he seemed... sorry?
"Wade!" Steve scolded. "No more hurting the poor boy!"
Wade's face changed from sorrowful to anger. "You're a pussy," He snapped, standing up from the table and storming away angrily.
Steve shook his head. "You know kids... he's angry all the time because he's grieving," Steve informed all of this. "I contacted distant family... for all of you. He wasn't like this before the whole..." His voice trailed off.
"You contacted family?" Shuri asked him, her accent making me feel happy and warm inside.
"Yes, I called your brother, T'Challa. He said he's still in the hospital for his injuries, but as soon as he's out you may go home with him," Steve assured her.
Shuri smiled brightly. I looked at Steve expectedly.
"Oh, Peter, I couldn't find any family of yours. None of your emergency contacts answered anyways," Steve said sadly. "I'm sorry my boy, but I'm sure we'll find Aunt May soon."
I slammed my fist down on the table, standing up and storming off just as Wade had done. This is so unfair. Why does Shuri get to leave and not me? I've suffered the most injuries, and yet I'm still stuck here.
I entered our room, seeing Wade sitting on his bed. "What do you want, bellhead?" He asked me. I just bit my lip and got into bed, not daring to cry in front of Wade. I pulled the covers over my head and stared at the wall, feeling the tears start to run down my cheeks.
What if Aunt May's dead? I thought to myself, wondering what my life could become.
Although I was very upset, my crying never disturbed the silence.
