《My World is Drowning [Irondad]》Wicked Wizard [4]

It was unbelievable. Only half of New York was destroyed, the other half seemed like nothing even touched it. Avengers Tower was in perfect shape, but if you walked several blocks down, it's just rubbish all over the ground for miles.

It was horrible.

Ironman carried me into the lobby, then set me down. I turned to him, wondering what I should do. His helmet flipped up, revealing Tony Stark. "Strange should be here any minute now," He told me, looking around. "Just... wait here. I gotta go help some more people," Mr Stark said with hesitance. His helmet flipped back over his face and he blasted out of the lobby.

I sighed, looking around the lobby. Then golden sparkle things appeared in the air next to me, expanding into an oval. Doctor Strange hopped out of it, robe and all. I wondered if he wore the robe everywhere he went. "Are you Peter Parker?" I nodded. "Tony told me about you before he brought you here. Go ahead and hop through," He gestured to the portal.

I put a foot in with reluctance, then brought the rest of my body through. We were in some medical place, and by the views through the windows, I could tell we were still in Avengers Tower. Just on a different floor. I turned back towards the Doctor in time to see him close the portal with a wave of his hands.

I swallowed nervously. "Hmm... okay, Tony said there's a chance you have selective mutism. That's not common in teens but I see you've picked that up," Doctor Strange commented, seating me on some sort of medical table. "Steve also added that loud noises hurt you. The body scan showed some lung recovery, and that's normal after drowning." He cleared his throat.

Stephen did a wave of his hands, creating a notepad and pen out of nothing. "Could you please write down something if you have anything more to add?" He asked politely.

I grabbed the pen, writing down one word. "Ringing". I tapped my ear when I showed it to him.

Doctor Strange nodded. "Ah," He said with understanding. "That explains how loud sounds hurt you. Do you still hear ringing?" I nodded, being reminded of the constant hum I hear. "But it's quiet enough so it doesn't hurt you?" I nodded again. "Is it annoying?" I nodded once more.

"Hm," He thought to himself. "You might have to listen to music when you want to fall asleep. I recommend some sad or slow music, since it normally calms the mind." I bit the inside of my cheek. "The ringing might eventually go away, but it very well could last forever."

I was so ungrateful when I had perfect hearing.

I rubbed my eyes, stressed out about Aunt May. I suddenly snatched the notebook off of the table I was sitting on, clicking the pen out and writing down something. I wrote "I don't know where my Aunt May is". I sniffed, sucking up the tears and hoping she was okay.

Stephen read the words. "Tony and his crew are out looking for people, I'm sure they'll find her," He informed me, patting my shoulder awkwardly. I bit my lip, rubbing my face with my palms. Stephen sighed. "No... don't be sad... ugh. Fine. You can stay the night," He groaned.

I looked up at him gratefully.

"Wicked wizard of the west, I've got one more kid down here." I heard Tony's voice, but I wasn't sure where it was coming from. I guess it was Friday, the feminine voice that helped him with stuff. There was a unit about her in science, how she was wired through a whole 93 story building.

Strange sighed and looked at me. "I'll be right back," He assured me, creating a portal and hopping through it. I studied the golden sparks in the air, and a few moments later he dragged a teen that seemed a little older than me through the portal by his wrist.

"You can fucking let go of me," The teen snapped, wrenching his wrist out of Doctor Strange's grasp. He seemed upset.

"Could you please stop being rude and sit down on this table next to Peter?" Doctor Strange snapped.

"Fuck you," The kid snarled, but sat next to me anyways. "You guys are assholes. I was trying to comfort my dying mother and that big metal man piece of shit snatched me up and dragged me over here."

Oh, that's why he was upset. His mother died. This angry phase of his is probably his way of dealing with it.

"You're bleeding everywhere out of your stomach, plus you're blinded in one eye from the bright explosions." Stephen sighed. He clearly didn't want to be dealing with this teen right now.

I stared at him, noticing that his right eye had a small cloud in front of it. That must be his blind eye. I thought to myself.

"I lost everything I had. I don't have a place to go. I'd rather die beside my mom then be living here." The kid was fuming as Doctor Strange ripped his shirt open, revealing a glass shard in his chest.

"That's why you're bleeding," He mumbled to himself. "If you want to, you can stay here with Peter for the night," The doctor offered, nodding towards me.

The teen's head turned my way. "What the fuck are you looking at?" He snapped.

I winced and looked back down at my hands on my lap.

"What, are you a mute or something?" The kid questioned.

"Selective mutism," Strange answered for me, sticking a needle in the boy's chest. The younger didn't even react to it. I guessed it was some sort of numbing medicine.

"Oh yeah?" The teen challenged. "My mom says I have selective listening."

"That's not a medical condition, it just means you're annoying," Doctor Strange informed him as he carefully removed the shard from his body.

The boy rolled his eyes. "I've heard of you, you're like some kind of witch," He told Stephen.

"You're like some kind of annoying kid who won't let me work on him. Sit still!" The doctor ordered in return.

"My name isn't kid, my name is Wade. Wade Wilson," He growled. "And now the readers are going to freak out that I revealed who I am."

I gave him a confused look. Strange didn't even look phased, he had started stitching his wound closed.

Wade sighed. "This is boring," He grumbled. He looked around a little. I noticed that he landed his eyes on some glass vials. The teen reached over and grabbed one.

"Stop moving," Stephen ordered.

"Fuck you," Wade replied, throwing the glass at the ground. It shattered, making a loud noise.

"Sh-shit..." I muttered, the ringing in my ears piercing my skull suddenly. It temporarily deafened me again, when I noticed Wade's lips moving. I scrunched up my face, shutting my eyes and bringing my knees up to my chest to deal with the pain. I covered my ears with my hand again, something that once again did nothing.

Slowly the deafening ringing faded enough to let me hear the second half of Strange's response.

"-so I would suggest not making any loud sounds around him. Also, the pain was so immense that his subconscious took over, that's why he spoke."

Based on Strange's response, I guessed Wade had asked something along the lines of "what the hell is wrong with him" and "he's faking his muteness".

Honestly, I wished I was faking everything.
